Include PaginationItem. Focus on the nav landmark and its label (1.3.1), aria-current="page" (4.1.2), the names of the items (getItemAriaLabel), the target size (2.5.8) and the contrast of the selected item (1.4.11).
Scope
Add axe tests and fixtures in test/regressions/a11y/fixtures/.
Write Pagination/accessibility.md.
Enroll it in the CSS-dependent suite (1.4.10, 1.4.4, 1.4.12).
Run pnpm a11y:scorecard.
Manual tests
Write each check in the report as numbered Manual testing steps, as in Button/accessibility.md. pnpm a11y:scorecard then adds them to manual-testing.md. For screen-reader steps, use NVDA with Chrome and VoiceOver with Safari.
1.3.1 — With a screen reader, list the landmarks. Pagination shows as a navigation landmark with the name "pagination navigation".
4.1.2 — Press Tab to the items. Each item announces its name, for example "Go to page 3". The current page announces "current page".
2.4.3 — After a page change, focus stays on the item that was pressed, or moves to a logical place.
1.4.1, 1.4.11 — In grayscale and with the text variant, the current page stays distinguishable. Its indicator is at least 3:1.
2.5.8 — Measure the items on size="small". Each is at least 24 × 24 CSS px, or it has enough spacing.
1.4.10 — At 320 CSS px width, the items wrap and no item is lost.
