Summary

#4675's fork does not allow maintainer edits, so its work moved to #5148, stacked on the two carve-outs #5106 and #5107. This points the three quests at those PRs.

Public API: none. Wire: none (quest files only).

stacked on the two carve-outs. Namespace renewal stays draft-17+, as #4675
built it.

Automated review at 69e727bd (quest docs only)

Checked the claims against #5106, #5107, and #5148: all three are open, #5148 says it is stacked on #5106 and #5107 (both merged into its branch), and its diff adds auth::Scope, auth::Request::scope, auth::RequestKind, set_request_token(setup::Token), and TooManyRequestUpdates (0x1b, mirrored in js/net), so the updated Public API line matches. Links resolve.

Automated review by review (OpenAI)

Reviewed commit: 69e727b

One documentation correctness finding below. Pointing the quests at the maintained implementation and its two prerequisites is a sensible, minimal change; keep unfinished acceptance criteria explicit when shortening the checklist.

Verification: inspected the complete three-file diff, surrounding quest text, linked PR metadata, and relevant API/encoding code at #5148's 311a73c. GitHub-only static review; no tests executed and no full behavioral review of the implementation PRs. Rechecked open/non-draft state, head, and existing reviews before publishing.

`token::decode_value`.
#5148 also fixes what a 2026-10-09 read of #4675 found: updates answered out
of order behind a pending renewal, duplicated admission and renewal logic, a
byte-encoded `set_request_token`, three parallel `Option`s on `auth::Request`,

[P2] Keep the encoded-token API requirement open

This replaces the old pre-merge requirement to accept encoded bytes with a claim that #5148 fixes it, but that PR still has set_request_token(&self, token: setup::Token), and its encoder always writes USE_VALUE. Callers still cannot supply the alias forms identified by the removed checklist item. Retain that item as open, or explicitly record a decision to keep the typed, value-only API; describing it as fixed silently loses an unmet acceptance criterion.

Agreed. #5148 still takes setup::Token and encodes only USE_VALUE. Fixed in 3626a4b: the condensed line now lists only what #5148 fixed, and this item stays open under "Still open in #5148", to be fixed or settled by a recorded decision before it merges.

Namespace renewal is draft-17+, since earlier drafts cannot update an

P2 Badge Align the goal with draft-limited namespace renewal

This now limits namespace renewal to draft 17+, but the Goal still says that a PUBLISH_NAMESPACE token is refreshed on every supported draft. For drafts 14 through 16, those requirements conflict, so an implementer cannot tell whether completion excludes namespace renewal or requires behavior that this paragraph says is impossible. Qualify the Goal and the Scope bullet alongside this new limit.

Agreed, and the draft-17+ claim was also wrong: draft-16 section 9.11 lists PUBLISH_NAMESPACE among the requests REQUEST_UPDATE can modify. Fixed in 3626a4b: the Goal names the update per draft (drafts 14 and 15 cannot update a namespace), the Drafts bullet keeps the 2026-10-09 decision with namespace renewal from 16, and #5148's draft-17-only namespace renewal is listed as still open.

Walkthrough

The plan documents now assign the request-token implementation to PR #5148 and identify the PRs that carve out related work. They specify renewal scope by draft number, list issues attributed to PR #5148, and update the described additive API to include auth::Scope and auth::Request::scope.

Priority: ⬇️ Low

Merge Risk: ⚪ Minimal · up to 2423e

The plan keeps the draft-16 renewal and alias-form token gaps explicit. No actionable issue remains in the reviewed documentation changes.

Follow-up review at 3626a4b7 (push 69e727b → 3626a4b, quest/m1/auth/request-token.md only)

The push restates draft coverage (namespace renewal moves from 17+ to 16+, since draft-16 REQUEST_UPDATE covers PUBLISH_NAMESPACE) and splits the #5148 fix list into fixed and still-open items.

Grok review — head 2423e3c2 (first review)

Docs-only quest update repointing the request-token quests at #5106, #5107, and #5148. Checked the claims: all three PRs exist and are open, #5148 says it stacks on #5106 and #5107 and carries #4675 forward with co-author credit, and its diff does add auth::Scope and auth::Request::scope, so the Public API line holds. No blocking issues.
