MERGEPositive improvement. The quest documents name a real hang (#4392 on lite-03/04 Worth the complexity. Different approach. FETCH-the-remainder (as #4388 sketched for #4365) is correctly rejected for now: lite-03/04 have no FETCH, and Watch during implementation: the media-layer obligation that This is an automated review, not the maintainer's decision |

Exclude lost datagrams from the every-group guarantee
For a lost datagram, this guarantee is false: the plan later says the publisher counts the datagram as delivered (lines 30-32), so it sends no SUBSCRIBE_DROP and the subscriber receives no Group Stream, waiting for tail grace instead. Scope the goal and README summary to stream groups or change datagram accounting; otherwise the quest's acceptance criterion contradicts its chosen behavior.

Retain demand until the resumed group completes
When the handed-out group is the only reader, this temporary subscription is the only demand keeping the replacement's wire SUBSCRIBE alive. Dropping it as soon as poll_current or poll_finished resolves the lookup sends FIN upstream, and lite::publisher::SubscribeState::Run handles PeerFin by dropping its in-flight group tasks, so the continuation can be canceled before its remaining frames arrive. Keep the subscription until the logical group finishes or errors, otherwise the group-only reader can still lose a mid-group continuation. (Written by GPT-5.6 Sol)

Test every lite version promised by the goal
The goal promises this behavior on every lite version, but the regression matrix covers only lite-03 through lite-06. The current version set also supports lite-01, lite-02, and lite-07; lite-01/02 use the same pre-TRACK path implicated in the root cause, while lite-07 is an explicitly supported wire variant affected by the companion quest. Add those versions to the matrix or narrow the stated guarantee so the quest cannot finish with supported variants unverified. (Written by GPT-5.6 Sol)

Problem
#4392 had no quest. On lite-03/04, the far subscriber's in-flight
read_framehangs after a publisher aborts a track mid-group. It still reproduces onmain.Root cause: after a mid-group failover, the resumed group waits on the new copy's cache but never subscribes to it. Only
recv_groupdoes. #4365 parks at the same line.Approach
New, m1:
resume-latest[S]: moq-lite-03/04: the in-flight group's read_frame stays pending after the publisher aborts the track (05/06 error; recv_group errors on all) #4392 and Origin-routed subscriber hangs in read_frame when a track is aborted mid-group and re-created under the same name #4365. While a resumed group waits on a copy, it subscribes withstart = latest. It ends with an error on a refusal, or if the copy's latest is already past it. No FETCH. The old group isn't aborted eagerly, so long-lived groups like the catalog survive a failover.subscribe-drop[L]: every group in a lite subscription arrives or is named by SUBSCRIBE_DROP, including skipped sequences. Publishers send it on lite-03 through lite-06. lite-07 (still-wip) restores it and removesStream Count. A reliable reset acts as a one-group drop. Datagram groups stay best effort.Aligned:
track-tail-interop: the lite-07 case checks drops instead of the stream count, and requiressubscribe-drop.track-tail-hardening: stream-count references now point atsubscribe-drop.Impact
subscribe-dropchanges the lite-07 wire: SUBSCRIBE_DROP returns and SUBSCRIBE_END losesStream Count. Lite-03 through lite-06 wire is unchanged; publishers start sending a message those versions already define.Alternatives
Stream Countalongside the drops. Rejected as redundant once every sequence is accounted for.Follow-ups
