Entity Config files defines all the settings on a per entity basis for how data is stored in the local caching layer. They are just json dictionaries saved to a file.
They define:
Which fields to store
Shotgun filters to further limit whats cached
How they're created
The easiest way to create the entity configs is by using the create-entity-configs tool
$ shotgunCache create-entity-configs Asset Shot
This will automatically create the json files containing your entity configs.
By default, this includes all the available fields from Shotgun for each entity.
Customizing Cached Fields
You can limit which fields are cached by removing unnecessary fields from the generated entity config files.
Just open the json file in a text editor and delete the dictionary entries under the fields key for fields you don't want to cache.
