Floating button doesn’t appear after restart

After restarting the device, the floating lock button doesn’t appear. I have to turn the floating button off and on again to make it show. There is no “Run at startup” permission in the app.

Hi, I’m on a Redmi with Android 14 and HyperOS 1. The app runs after restart but the floating button doesn’t show. I have to turn it off and on again to make the lock icon appear.

Thanks for the details and screenshots. Could you try one more check? I don't have a physical Redmi to test this.

1. On your Redmi, go to Settings → Apps → Permissions → Background autostart and enable it for TapLock.
2. Restart the phone, unlock it, and check whether the floating button appears.
3. If it’s still missing, before toggling the floating button off and on, does TapLock’s home-screen widget or Quick Settings tile still lock the phone?

That last check will help me tell whether TapLock’s accessibility service is running but the button isn’t showing.

Actually, I deleted some system apps like Security and others, so I can’t see the Autostart menu right now. The reason I can use this app now is because I uninstalled the Security app. It was turning off the accessibility access every time after restart. After removing them, I haven’t had any auto-start problems. Many apps like Equalizer and Quick Ball (a floating button app) still run fine on boot. I just want the floating button because it’s quicker to lock the screen. I’ll share the Quick Ball link below as well. Thanks for looking into this, and feel free to close the issue if there’s no fix.

Could you try the widget or Quick Settings tile immediately after a reboot, before opening TapLock or toggling the floating button? Does it lock the phone while the button is missing? Also, if you then open TapLock without touching the switch, does the button appear, or only after switching it off and on?

I tried it. The widget and Quick Settings tile work correctly after a reboot and can lock the phone. However, the floating button does not appear when I open TapLock. I have to turn the switch off and on again for the floating button to show up.

I've tried to replicate as much as I could locally with emulator + Pixel 7 as I don't have a Redmi and I did find a bug but I'm not sure if it'll fix it for you. Play store just approved my last update so I'll do a new one again asap if you'd like to try it again.

It’s working now! I tried setting the app battery usage to Unrestricted, and it’s working perfectly. I never change this setting for any apps, so I didn’t know it was needed. Sorry for wasting your time!
