Manual checks could leave automatic installation waiting for the background updater’s next 60-second tick. This change wakes the update owner after manual commands and when staged updates become idle, retains Install requests made during an in-flight check, and continues completed stages promptly.
Independent candidate Git checkouts download concurrently (at most four), with writes to the same checkout serialized and sibling tasks cancelled on failure. Post-install checks reuse recent availability results; fresh manual checks still bypass that cache. Existing qualification, source protection, rollback and active-work gates remain in force.
Update diagnostics now include bounded recent check timings, server update state, and the browser state visible at the time of copying. Private paths, credentials and chat content remain excluded. Includes 0.20.48 release notes and rebuilt frontend assets.
Validation: 438 frontend tests and reproducible committed-asset builds passed. The full local Python run completed with 4,673 passed and 138 skipped; that run began before the final small receipt/diagnostic adjustments, which were covered by 15 final focused tests. Additional updater coverage includes 445 backend tests and 62 staging/scheduling tests. On isolated Linux, 105 update contracts and 146 capacity/coordination/service contracts passed; all four real systemd restart/readiness scenarios passed.
Released as v0.20.48 from merged commit 278a3ab. Hosted jobs remained queued, so the exact merged candidate was qualified on isolated Linux: verified wheel/source archive and isolated installation probe, 438 frontend tests/build consistency, and 41 real worker-runtime tests. All three matching qualification receipts and original artifact hashes were verified before publication.
