When we renamed init to v1 we stripped the old branding, which left the README with a plain text heading, the sites with no favicon, and mobile, desktop, and the extension with stock Expo, Tauri, and WXT icons. This adds a v1 mark, a lowercase v and a 1 set in Audiowide and stored as vector outlines so nothing loads the font, and applies it everywhere the init branding used to be.

README (light / dark) Favicon (light / dark) App icon
  • README: a <picture> shows a black or white logo depending on GitHub's color scheme.
  • Web, docs, and app: a white-square favicon and a black-square favicon, each selected with prefers-color-scheme, plus a favicon.ico fallback and an apple-touch-icon.png. Docs now sets Starlight's favicon, so the head override that removed the default link is gone.
  • Mobile: light and dark iOS icons, light and dark splash screens, and a black Android adaptive icon. The native assets in ios/ and android/ come from expo prebuild, with only the asset changes kept.
  • Desktop and extension: the icon is replaced, and WXT builds the extension sizes from icon.svg.

Where only one icon is possible (the .ico, the Apple touch icon, Android, desktop, and the extension), the black square with white letters is used because it shows up on both light and dark backgrounds.

Verification

  • bun run check and bun template doctor pass, including build.
  • Built HTML for web and docs links the icons, and dist/ contains them:
    <link rel="icon" href="/favicon.ico" sizes="32x32">
    <link rel="icon" href="/favicon-light.svg" type="image/svg+xml" media="(prefers-color-scheme: light)">
    <link rel="icon" href="/favicon-dark.svg" type="image/svg+xml" media="(prefers-color-scheme: dark)">
    <link rel="apple-touch-icon" href="/apple-touch-icon.png">
  • I compared the rendered mark with the reference image. I didn't run the mobile, desktop, or extension builds on a device.

Merge danger

  • Door: two-way. The change only touches assets and head links.
  • Blast radius: small. It covers branding in every application workspace, so a scaffolded project replaces these files with its own.

Replace the stock icons left behind when init branding was stripped with a
v1 mark set in Audiowide: a README logo, light and dark favicons for web,
docs, and app, and icons for mobile, desktop, and the extension.
