Android app: download episodes to SD card doesn't work #983

Description

@neurolit

Hi!

I'm using PinePods (server and Android app) and I love it so far. However, on my Fairphone 6 (Android 16), I can't download episodes locally on a SD card ("Failed to start download") :

If I uncheck the "Download episodes to SD card" parameter, downloading locally works flawlessly.

Do you need more information about this?

    Can confirm, I have a Fairphone 5 with and SD card and the Pinepods app has never asked for permissions to access the SD Card.
    This should happen when the "Download episodes to SD card" is selected

    Fixed in #1039 - The app was asking Android for a storage permission that doesn't exist anymore on newer versions, so it always got denied. This was a problem because of the app being forked originally from Anytime Podcast Player and then that component never got updated. It doesn't need that permission for the SD card at all, so it's gone and SD card downloads should work. Will be released officially with the next release coming soon. Let me know after release if there's still issues.
