Description
Add an option to configure a different wallpaper for each connected monitor.
Currently, users cannot assign unique wallpapers to individual displays through AuroraShell. Multi-monitor setups may benefit from separate backgrounds that better match each monitor’s orientation, resolution, role, or visual arrangement.
Providing per-monitor wallpaper configuration would make desktop personalization more flexible while preserving the existing wallpaper behavior by default.
Expected Behavior
Add per-monitor wallpaper settings that allow users to:
- Select a different wallpaper for each connected monitor.
- Preview or immediately apply wallpaper changes.
- Preserve assignments when monitors are disconnected and reconnected.
- Reset an individual monitor to the default system wallpaper.
- Keep the current shared wallpaper behavior as the default.
Additional Context
This may require integration with GNOME Shell’s background rendering and monitor identification rather than only changing the existing desktop background setting. The implementation scope should account for monitor hotplugging, display reordering, and changes in monitor geometry.
