Summary

  • Add ocx logs history to page the derived request-history index (GET /api/request-history) with provider, model, requested-model, status, conversation, surface, protocol, API-key, profile, fallback, and inclusive --from/--to bounds (epoch milliseconds or ISO datetime). Default --limit is 50 (max 100). --json is the management page; --jsonl emits rows and prints nextCursor on stderr when hasMore is true. Empty matches succeed.
  • Add ocx logs get <request-id> to read one canonical row (GET /api/request-history/{id}). The id is URI-encoded. Missing ids are 404. Distinct from the recent ocx logs ring and from ocx logs explain.
  • Both verbs are also accepted as ocx observe logs history / ocx observe logs get. Capability, skill surface, CLI docs, and structure notes are updated. The undeclared-route ratchet drops the two now-declared paths.

Verification

  • bun test tests/cli/cli-log-history.test.ts — 6 pass
  • bun test tests/cli/cli-capability-operation-workflows.test.ts — pass (includes history/get routing)
  • bun test tests/cli/cli-capabilities.test.ts — 19 pass
  • bun test tests/cli/cli-help-navigation.test.ts tests/test-layout.test.ts tests/test-layout-tooling.test.ts tests/ci-workflows/skill-ocx.test.ts tests/ci-workflows/skill-ocx-generated.test.ts — pass
  • bun run typecheck, bun run structure:check, bun run skill:surface:check, bun run privacy:scan — pass

Checklist

  • Scope stays focused and avoids unrelated cleanup.
  • Docs or release notes were updated when needed.
  • Security-sensitive changes were reviewed for secrets, auth, and unsafe defaults.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Added ocx logs history to browse and filter request history with pagination and resumable cursors. Supports text, JSON, and JSONL output.
    • Added ocx logs get to retrieve a stored request record by ID. Both commands are also available under ocx observe logs.
  • Documentation
    • Updated CLI reference and usage guides with command options, output formats, and examples.

Review readiness checklist

This PR stays in draft until every box below is ticked. Tick all four boxes once the requirements are met:

  • Required local validation passed; commands, results, and any full-suite exception are documented.

  • I pushed my PR to a recent dev commit (at most 10 behind; a maintainer may still ask for the exact tip before merge).

  • I resolved all correct Codex and CodeRabbit findings.

  • My PR is ready for review.

Demo

demo

Add `ocx logs history` to page GET /api/request-history with the index
filters and a resumable cursor, and `ocx logs get` to read one canonical
row by request id. Distinct from the recent ring and from logs explain.
handleObserveCommand already receives the logs subcommand; the extra
observe prefix is dispatch-only and was a usage error in the unit test.
logs history and logs get now declare GET /api/request-history and
GET /api/request-history/{id}, so those keys must leave the shrink-only list.

📝 Walkthrough

The CLI adds logs history for filtered, paginated reads from the request-history index and logs get for retrieving a canonical row by request ID. Both commands are also available under observe logs. Tests and documentation cover these commands and their output.

Changes: Request-history CLI

Layer / File(s) Summary
History and get command implementation
src/cli/capabilities-observe-system.ts, src/cli/capabilities-base.ts, src/cli/log-history.ts, src/cli/observe.ts, src/cli/registry.ts
Registers and dispatches the commands. History validates filters and supports text, JSON, and JSONL output. Get retrieves a row by encoded request ID.

Tests cover filters, pagination, output formats, request encoding, and error codes. The route ratchet and test-layout mappings are updated.
Command documentation and capability references
docs-site/src/content/docs/reference/cli/agents.md, docs-site/src/content/docs/reference/configuration/routing.md, skills/ocx/references/*, structure/cli-management.md, structure/dashboard-and-usage.md

These commands remain mergeable with bounded fixes: a missing request ID can produce a misleading lookup error, and JSONL callers may expect stderr metadata that is not emitted.

Correct the JSONL stderr contract.

Line 41 says that hasMore and nextCursor go to stderr. src/cli/log-history.ts Line 139 prints only nextCursor, and only when both hasMore and a cursor are present. A caller following the declared output contract will wait for a hasMore value that never appears. Describe the actual output here, then regenerate the corresponding text in skills/ocx/references/01_surface_observe-system.md Line 598.

Reject --json when it occupies the request-ID position.

ocx logs get uses the intentional operand-first syntax ocx logs get <request-id> [--json], like ocx logs explain. Do not make ocx logs get --json <request-id> valid. However, ocx logs get --json currently treats --json as the request ID and can issue GET /api/request-history/--json instead of returning the missing-ID usage error.

Landed on dev in 4ed45e9 via #7222 (your change is its own commit in that bundle, and the squash keeps your authorship as Co-authored-by). (This PR targeted main; the change was carried onto dev, which is where feature work lands.) Thank you!
