Summary
Gemini models appear in the OpenCode Zen model list, but requests go through the provider's default protocol. With
openai-chat, Zen returnsModelProtocolUnsupported. Selecting the Google adapter alone also fails: it appends/v1beta/models/..., while Zen serves Gemini at/zen/v1/models/....This patch routes Zen's
gemini-*models through the existing Google adapter and uses Zen's model endpoint. It also preserves Zen's model IDs instead of applying the AI Studio-tieredrenames. This applies whenopencode-zenuses an API key, the default AI Studio mode, and either of Zen's official base URLs:https://opencode.ai/zen/v1orhttps://opencode.ai/inference/v1.Legacy Gemini overrides and Responses-only tool preferences are ignored on read, preserving other providers and accounts and keeping config editing and export working.
This follows the approach in #7099 for OpenCode Go, but covers

Maintainer validation (2026-10-15) at
fbf78532800920a4fd4ddd969225b722490ad7b0, based on currentorigin/dev7640a942b35044c974e534b84d5a8049f4a8ae9a. Every Bun command used freshOPENCODEX_HOME=$(mktemp -d) CODEX_HOME=$(mktemp -d)sandboxes.Resource exception: the maintainer's
bun run test:changed -- --parallel=1waited behind another test run's shared user lock and was cancelled before selection (exit 143). Concurrent backlog worktrees contend for that lock; focused provider, adapter, config, layout and size regressions above completed instead. The full local suite was not run; broader and platform coverage is left to CI. No assertion failures occurred in the completed focused runs. These fixture checks do not claim a maintainer live vendor request.Full cross-platform CI dispatched on
ci/pr-7155, exact SHA above: https://github.com/lidge-jun/opencodex/actions/runs/38712508148 (queued at dispatch; not yet passing evidence).Credential-destination review: the new helper admits only the existing HTTPS OpenCode Zen paths, key auth and AI Studio mode, excluding URL credentials/query/fragment and other hosts/modes. The adapter preserves the Zen model ID and uses its key header; config upgrade warnings contain fixed text. The destination/mode exclusions, strict new-write validation, file-backed upgrade, provider/account preservation, streaming and tool continuations are covered by the focused tests.
Relation to #7099: complementary, not duplicate. Zen uses a
gemini-prefix on/zen/v1or/inference/v1withx-goog-api-key; Go has its own exact-model/destination policy and Bearer authentication. Both reuse the native Google adapter. Their current edits overlap insrc/adapters/google.ts(endpoint selection/auth) andsrc/types/wire.ts(imports/interface); integration must retain both destination helpers, both wire rules, and separate authentication. The sharedgoogleModecapability field is identical. No changes were made to #7099.Author's earlier verification follows (not rerun by the maintainer):
Live requests through the locally patched OCX 2.86.0 passed with Gemini 3.8 Flash: streaming, non-streaming, function calls and follow-up replies. Other Gemini models were checked offline only.
On Windows with Bun 1.4.3: 1,188 targeted tests passed, 6 skipped; type checking, structure/privacy checks and the docs build passed. Four new upgrade cases fail before the follow-up fix and pass after it.
The broader changed-test run timed out after 15 minutes. All 19 files accounting for its 68 failures were rerun individually on the original PR and unmodified
dev, with identical results. Missing-file failures cleared; remaining failures also occur on the baseline. Focused validation is used under the repository's resource exception; the full suite and CI remain pending.Validation commands and results
The original failures comprised 28 cases affected by seven missing README files, 23 symlink permission failures, 15 test/cleanup timeouts, one ACL error and one Anthropic configuration assertion. The assertion reproduces with local fake-IP DNS; three timeout-related scenarios (four cases) pass with
--timeout 30000. Baseline comparison used7640a94and original PR commit1558666, running each of the 19 files separately withbun scripts/test.ts --parallel=1.Checklist
