Inject the macOS ACL seam in this cross-platform test
On every non-macOS runner, both calls here force platform: "darwin" but still use the real macOS ACL probe, which executes /bin/ls -lde; GNU ls rejects -e, so the reader returns record-unsafe instead of the expected disabled/pending states. I reproduced this with bun test tests/cli/cli-path-diagnostics.test.ts on Linux. Inject checkAcl: () => true into the reader and pass that result through recordRead to the diagnostics call so this schema test does not depend on host-specific ls behavior.

Handle Node-ignored child signals explicitly
When the Desktop CLI terminates from a signal Node ignores by default, notably SIGPIPE when output is piped to a consumer that closes early, process.kill(process.pid, result.signal) does not terminate this launcher. The unresolved top-level await then makes Node exit normally with status 13 and an unsettled top-level await warning rather than mirroring the child's signal. Special-case signals that cannot be re-raised reliably, for example by mapping them to the conventional 128 + signum exit status or using a helper with default signal dispositions.

`DesktopCliHandoffExit` handling in the launcher, retain signal re-raising and
add a referenced timeout fallback that exits with the conventional

🩺 Stability & Availability | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win
Report a numeric exit code only when the child exited without a signal.
When the child dies from a signal, exit reports code === null and a non-null signal. Line 90 maps code to 1, so DesktopCliHandoffExit returns { code: 1, signal: "SIGTERM" }. bin/ocx.mjs Lines 1042-1046 check signal first and then re-raise it, so the launcher behaves correctly today. The problem is that the reported shape does not distinguish a real exit 1 from a signal death. A second gap: if the parent ignores the re-raised signal (for example, SIGHUP is ignored under nohup), process.kill returns and Line 1048 waits forever. The launcher then hangs instead of exiting.
Proposed fix in bin/ocx.mjs
if (result.signal) {
process.kill(process.pid, result.signal);
+ // If the signal is ignored or handled, still terminate with the conventional code.
+ setTimeout(() => process.exit(128 + (os.constants.signals[result.signal] ?? 0)), 1000).unref?.();
} else {Do not call unref() on this timer. The pending await keeps nothing else alive, so the timer must keep the process alive until it fires.
