Thank you for creating this issue to explore Tier-2 support! I completely understand and respect your decision to keep official 1st-party Google OAuth separate from community tool integrations in the main UI.
I’d love to contribute user context to your "What to consider" section regarding why developers rely on token import and multi-account workflows:
Why token-based access is widespread for Gemini / Antigravity:
When developers purchase Gemini Pro / Antigravity seats or team slots from distributors and resellers, they are almost exclusively provided an OAuth refresh token rather than interactive Google account credentials (login/password). Without token/clipboard import, there is no way to connect these accounts to OpenCodex.
The bigger picture: Account Pool & Rotation for Antigravity (like in Codex):
Cockpit Tools (jlcodes99/cockpit-tools, 17.3k stars) is widely adopted because it manages pools of multiple accounts (e.g., a group of 4–5 Gemini Pro accounts) and handles quota exhaustion failover.
OpenCodex already has a fantastic, rock-solid Account Pool with automatic rotation for OpenAI/Codex accounts when quotas deplete. Is a similar multi-account pool and quota rotation mechanism on the roadmap for Antigravity as well? Having OpenCodex rotate through a pool of Antigravity accounts when one hits its 5-hour/weekly quota would be a massive workflow improvement.
Ideas for Tier-2 placement without cluttering 1st-party UX:
Instead of modifying the main "Add account" modal, Tier-2 token import can live strictly inside the provider's advanced settings tab with a clear "Community / External Tools" label.
It can support clipboard/file import directly into the local store without giving it 1st-party branding in the initial connection flow.
Both OpenCodex and Cockpit Tools are high-quality open-source projects created by passionate developers for the community. We'd love to help test, implement, or adapt this Tier-2 support in whatever architecture you feel is right for the project.
지금 dev(HEAD 402be7c1f)를 기준으로 보면, “파일이면 가져오기” 자체는 이미 코드와 문서에 있습니다. src/oauth/account-import/types.ts의 ACCOUNT_IMPORT_FORMAT = "cockpit-tools", src/oauth/account-import/google-antigravity-adapter.ts / service.ts / registry.ts, GUI gui/src/components/provider-workspace/ProviderAuthPanel.tsx의 파일 선택 업로드, 그리고 docs-site providers 가이드의 ocx account import google-antigravity --format cockpit-tools 예제가 그 경로입니다.
경로 src/oauth/account-import/* + ProviderAuthPanel.tsx - 파일 JSON import는 이미 존재합니다.
이 이슈를 정책 결정 후 needs-design/wontfix/documentation 중 어떤 상태로 닫거나 유지할지
Thank you for clarifying the roadmap and the distinction between 1st-party official flows and Tier-2 community tools! Also, it’s fantastic news that native multi-account pool rotation for Antigravity is already in active development in #3283 / #2562.
Regarding Tier-2 Cockpit Tools import, I'd like to share why clipboard paste is so important compared to file-only import:
In daily use, importing strictly from files is very tedious. When managing multiple accounts (e.g. 4–5 Antigravity accounts), having to manually save each token/JSON snippet as a file to local disk just to upload it creates a lot of unnecessary friction and file clutter. A 1-click "Paste from clipboard" button solves this instantly in a single second.
Since you prefer not to promote community tools into the primary 1st-level "Add account" modal, keeping it strictly as Tier-2 inside the provider's Accounts / Settings tab (where file import already lived originally) makes total sense!
Here is how clean and non-intrusive it looks when kept strictly within the Accounts tab:
Please feel free to take the code from our branch (feat/cockpit-clipboard-import) and refactor/adapt it however you see fit for Tier-2, or let us know if you'd like a minimal Tier-2 PR scoped exclusively to adding clipboard paste to this tab without touching any 1st-party modals. Even having just clipboard paste on this Tier-2 card would completely solve the friction for users!
Closing this as resolved by what already shipped and what was already decided.
File-based Antigravity import exists on dev today: src/oauth/account-import/ carries a dedicated google-antigravity-adapter.ts alongside the shared parser, registry, and service. The 1st-party
clipboard-paste variant was considered and closed as #3998 / #3999, and this issue's own note records
the position — official 1st-party OAuth stays separate from community tool integrations in the main
UI.
@agentHits — thank you for the detailed context on why token import and multi-account workflows
matter in daily use. It was useful and it is recorded here. The practical answer for now is that file
import works and is supported, and native multi-account pool rotation for Antigravity is being
pursued directly in #3283 / #2562 rather than through a community-tool bridge.
If a Tier-2 support tier is later formalized, that will be a documentation and policy change rather
than an open engineering item, so there is nothing further to track here.
