feat: enable users to choose to bind competitive companion to 127.0.0.1 or 0.0.0.0 - #387
Added a setting to choose whether the Competitive Companion server accepts connections only from this computer (127.0.0.1) or from the local network (0.0.0.0). The setting defaults to local-network connections.
Changing the address or port restarts the server to apply the new configuration. The selected address is shown in the server’s startup information.
After a restart, the server stops automatically if no VS Code clients reconnect within five seconds.

The companion extension now exposes a bind-address setting and passes the selected address to the router. The router validates the address, binds the listener to it, and restarts when the configured address or port changes.
Changes: Router bind-address configuration
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Bind-address setting and contract packages/core/src/protocol.ts, packages/vscode-ext/package.json, packages/vscode-ext/package.nls.json, packages/vscode-ext/package.nls.zh.json
RouterConfig now requires bindAddress, typed as either 0.0.0.0 or 127.0.0.1. The extension adds a machine-scoped setting that defaults to 0.0.0.0, with English and Chinese descriptions.
The extension passes the configured address to the router with -a, logs the address, and sends setting changes through updateConfig.
Router validation and listener packages/vscode-router/src/config.ts, packages/vscode-router/src/index.ts
The router requires --bind-address and rejects values outside the two supported addresses. It uses the configured address as the listener hostname and restarts when the running address or port differs from configuration. Restart and shutdown checks account for an active restart and connected clients.

langningchen/cph-ng#384: The issue reports that the service binds to 0.0.0.0 instead of loopback. This change adds 127.0.0.1 as a configurable bind address.
Merge Risk: Low · previous review 4883d
Changing the bind address or port now restarts the companion listener correctly. In the rare case where VS Code exits before reconnecting after a restart, the router process can stay running and hold its port. This is a bounded follow-up and should not block the merge.

The extension sends a bind-address change without a port. This condition therefore never calls restartServer(), even though updateConfig changes the stored address. In particular, selecting 127.0.0.1 leaves an existing 0.0.0.0 listener accessible from the network. Trigger the restart for either address or port changes.

Review comment at @packages/vscode-router/src/index.ts at line 238:
Update the restart condition in updateConfig so restartServer() runs when either
the bind address or port changes. Preserve the existing behavior for port
changes and ensure address-only updates, including selecting 127.0.0.1, restart
the listener.

- Line 49: Update the listener restart flow around the `currentRunningPort` and
`currentRunningBindAddress` comparison to suppress last-client shutdown while a
restart is in progress, so Socket.IO disconnects do not trigger `stopServer()`
and exit the router. Await `io.close()` to finish before starting the
replacement listener.
- Line 197: Update the listener hostname binding using config.bindAddress so it
preserves the previous dual-stack default or otherwise supports IPv6
connections, including clients connecting through ::1, without dropping existing
IPv4 access.
