Introduction

We previously had some desks made for HEP 4 and we loved it.

We want to get more of those desks, ideally exact same wood, metal legs, etc. to match with what we have and place them to the outer area to build a working-with-a-laptop area: Hacker Corner.

Custom Manifactured Massive Wooden Desks

The plan is to get one massive wooden panel from Hasan Kulu, then getting the panel cut into for pieces as shown below to get two identical wooden desks along with two smaller extra.

We'll then get some iron profile legs and support manufactured in size to have a very sturdy desk setup.

The process / recipe for four custom made desks:

• Buy massive wooden panel (BC quality, 4cm thickness) from Hasan Kulu
• Cut it into size
• Sand all surfaces
• Soften the edges
• 2 times filler varnish, waiting 2 days in between
• Last layer silk matte varnish
• Make iron profile legs and support edges (2mm profile)
• Hand paint ironware
• Install ironware to desks
• Get it shipped to hackerspace

All of them totaled 30.500₺ six months ago. I expect 15-20% increase in price since then. The cost may change after we decide whether we want to make small desks like last time or not.

Let's budget it with 36000₺ and see how much we can collect from donors. If we let go of the optional small desks, we may save 6000₺ and get everything around 30K₺
