Opening a Discord server previously replaced the overview, requiring back navigation to switch servers or reach DMs. On wide windows, retain the Discord overview in a 280 pt column beside the selected server's channels and the conversation.

Keep the overview's scroll position, folders, DM expansion, All/Unread filter, and live updates. Switching servers replaces only the channels column and highlights the selected server; choosing a DM hides the channels column and opens the conversation. Message requests return to the home before opening their list.

Show the extra column only when both sidebars, a 392 pt conversation, and any visible right pane fit. Narrow windows retain the existing navigation. Adjust resizing, menu anchors, preview widths, conversation sizing, and visible-row watches for the additional column. Other networks retain their layout. Includes design documentation and a layout regression covering thresholds, hidden sidebars, other modes, and right-pane space.

Based directly on current main, including the newly merged sidebar-cache fix. Independent of #23.

Validation:

  • Layout tests pass after rebasing onto current main.
  • Arch package revision 21 builds; all 19 package patches apply and changed sources match the build tree.
  • Combined package GUI-feature suite: 333 passed, one ignored, with the known older-base update-fixture test excluded. That fixture uses a Linux URL without the archive name required by its assertion.
  • User tested revision 21 and confirmed the layout looks great.
  • git diff --check passes.

Show the Discord home beside the selected server on wide windows. Keep
its list state and updates alive, and return to the home when opening a
DM or message requests. Account for the column in resizing, menus and
conversation widths, with a narrow-window fallback and design docs.

On a wide window the Discord home stays in a fixed 280 pt column and the selected server's channels use the existing sidebar. The home is kept by treating a Discord server as the same network in switch_network, so scroll, folds, and the All/Unread filter survive, and load_home keeps refreshing it. A DM or message requests returns to the Discord home before opening. The column is omitted when the rail, both lists, a 392 pt conversation, and a visible right pane do not fit, and the resize handle measures the channels column from the overview's right edge. macOS, Linux, and Windows are green on 7273953.
