As mentioned above, going beyond a, b, c, .. would be helpful for users...

I agree that that would be helpful, but the problem is that in many of these scenarios different models have vastly different narratives (techno-optimistic, sufficiency, post-growth, different SSP baselines, etc.). By definition we allow the teams a lot of freedom on what the scenario entails.
I have requested tems to give me information on the narratives, and in my own processing of thier results I have a "metadata" tab, where i give such an explanation. Is it possible to upload such information to the explorer?

Yes, you could add a "meta" sheet to your submission, with a model-scenario index and a column that could be "Narrative" and a description for each scenario.
But it would be more useful to the audience to come up with descriptive scenario names and rename the scenarios before uploading.

OK, im not sure how to proceed on this one. Ive collected >20 scenarios (and expect more), almost all with different scneario narratives - often with small differences between the models. For the purposes of Sustainability-MIP i really dont want to have unique scenario names as that will make my analysis a nightmare. I really prefer to have a standardised scenario name, with metadata containing key narratrive information.

I fear that this is going be very confusing for users when Variant a is "high energy effiency" for one model but "full CCS" in a different model - very few people will look at the meta-indicators to figure out the details. So if you make the effort of short descriptions anyway, you might as well put the short descriptions in the scenario name.
You could implement a "wildcard" in the scenario-name-definition like
- Baseline [*]:so any text between the square brackets would be accepted at submission.
But I will also not stop you from going forward with a, b, c - say the word and I merge this PR.

OK you convinced me. Made appropriate changes.
