Make the template's gates able to fail, and mint the toolchain - #266
JuliaPackageSpitter.jl was reported as a broken Julia package. Almost none of the damage was authored there — it was authored in hyperpolymath/rsr-template-repo and copied in by the mint. This PR fixes the source.
Template identified by:
gh search repos rsr-template --owner hyperpolymath → hyperpolymath/rsr-template-repo (the only match; rsr-julia-library-template-repo and variants 404)
gh api -X GET search/code -f q='org:hyperpolymath "Juliapackage Reuse Audit"' → 13 files (gh search code has no --owner; the gh api form is the working one)
Full investigation, root-cause per defect, and the estate inventory: docs/reports/compliance/RSR-TEMPLATE-DAMAGE-2026-10-30.adoc.
The defects and the fix
Defect in the child
Cause here
Fix
SPDX gate passed in every non-Rust repo
Mustfile.a2ml globbed *.rs *.res *.gleam, head -20
scripts/check-spdx-headers.sh: extension set derived from the languages the repo declares; fails on a declared language with no files, and on a zero-file match
FROM …:latest passed container-images-pinned
probe asked "is cgr.dev named", not "is every image pinned"
scripts/check-container-pins.sh (64-hex digest per FROM), scripts/pin-container-digests.sh to write them
Julia repo declared python/node/go/rust/java/bun/cargo and no Julia
mise.toml copied from the spine, never rendered
scripts/render-mise.sh (now a mint step) + scripts/check-mise-language.sh
just quality green having run only Pkg.test()
quality: fmt-check lint test + @echo
quality fails on non-zero, and fails when a verb reports N/A for every language
{{PROJECT_NAME}}, {{tier}} in committed files
checker skips Justfile/*.just; mint's token list is fixed
scripts/check-mint-tokens.sh reads the answers out of the recipe, lowercase included; token gate runs before the first write in repo-init
minted Julia libs inherited a Containerfile
overlay can add files, not remove them
archetypes/*/prune.txt + scripts/prune-archetype-modules.sh (now a mint step)
fmt/fmt-check/lint were @echo
nothing wired them for Julia
archetypes/julia-library/overlay/scripts/julia-quality.jl + the provisioning-deed overrides
Also fixed while in here: a missing root LICENSE (license-present failed and every minted link:LICENSE[LICENSE] was dead — there was LICENSE.adoc and LICENSES/, nothing named LICENSE); validate-template.sh referencing an unset SCRIPT_DIR (aborted at Phase 6 under set -u) and demanding CONTRIBUTING.md in a .adoc estate; check-no-placeholders.sh dying silently (exit 1, no output) in any repo with no origin remote — i.e. every fresh mint; and the mint's .in rename covering a hardcoded three-file list instead of the overlay's own files.
Proof the checks can fail
Every gate has a negative fixture. tests/workflows/mint_gates_test.sh — 30/30 controls hold:
PASS SPDX fails on a Julia file with no header
PASS SPDX fails when a declared language has no files
PASS SPDX fails when it matches zero files
PASS SPDX fails on banned-language source (.py)
PASS pin gate fails on a floating :latest
PASS pin gate fails when the pin lives in a build argument
PASS pin gate fails on a truncated digest
PASS mise gate fails on a banned tool
PASS mise gate fails when the language tool is missing
PASS token gate fails on a token with no answer
...
mint gates: 30/30 controls hold
Two of those controls exist because the tests caught bugs in the new gates: check-spdx-headers.sh read git -C ROOT ls-files paths relative to the caller's cwd (so it graded the template's file instead of the fixture's), and check-mint-tokens.sh piped answers into grep -q, whose early exit SIGPIPEs the writer and, under pipefail, turned a match into "unanswerable" — a different one or two tokens on every run of an unchanged tree.
Julia and Rust scaffolds
tests/e2e/language_profiles_mint_test.sh — 27/27 controls hold. Both scaffolds pass SPDX, mise/language, container-pin, token and placeholder gates; the Julia tree renders mise.toml with julia + just, the Rust tree with rust + just, neither declares Python or any other language's tool. Replaying the historical damage makes the same gates red.
Estate inventory
111 repositories surveyed with scripts/survey-template-damage.sh (shallow clone, same gates — not a grep):

Org-wide code search: 1536 files carrying {{PROJECT_NAME}}, 175 mise.toml files mentioning Python, 421 Containerfiles with a :latest.
The 55 fully-damaged repositories are listed in the report. They are inventoried, not modified: a template PR that also rewrites 111 repos is unreviewable. The report ends with the mechanical migration for them.
Not proven here
just repo-init was not run end to end: the recipe needs rustc, nickel and uuidgen, none of which this environment has, and the available installers were outside estate provenance. Verified instead: the recipe body parses (just --show repo-init | bash -n), and the e2e test reproduces its overlay → prune → substitute → rename → render ordering. The real-mint job (tests/e2e/use_template_mint_test.sh) is where that gap closes.
The nickel/contractile probes I changed (must.k9.ncl, trust.k9.ncl) were not executed — the scripts they call are tested, the contractile plumbing is not.
New CI job
.github/workflows/quality.yml gains mint-gates: the four gates plus both test suites. No new action — actions/checkout at its existing pin, so actions.lock expectations are unchanged.
Closes the report that no workflow ran just quality at all (it can't be wired as-is: it needs the repo's own toolchain, which is why the job runs the gates instead).
Summary by CodeRabbit
New Features
Added Julia library and Rust CLI project templates with language-specific tooling, sample code, tests, and options to omit modules from generated projects.
Generated projects now validate license headers, container image pins, toolchain configuration, and unanswered template tokens before completion.
Added support for either LICENSE or LICENSE.adoc, and clarified project naming placeholders.
Added the Mozilla Public License 2.0 and tools to check or pin container image digests.
Bug Fixes
Quality checks now fail when a check does not run, and repository initialization handles missing Git remote information.
Template validation recognizes alternate license and contribution-guide formats.
Chores
Added automated checks for template gates and generated Julia and Rust projects.
Reported from JuliaPackageSpitter.jl, traced to this repository: a Julia
package with a nine-runtime mise.toml (Python among them), a Containerfile of
two floating :latest stages and TODO comments, unfilled {{TOKEN}}s in committed
files, an SPDX gate that passed without reading a file, and `just quality`
printing "All quality checks passed!" having run only Pkg.test().
Every one of those is a template defect copied into the child, so they are fixed
at the source.
Gates (scripts/), each with a failing input exercised by
tests/workflows/mint_gates_test.sh (30 controls):
check-spdx-headers.sh extension set derived from declared languages;
fails on a declared language with no files, on a
zero-file match, and on banned-language source
check-mise-language.sh declared toolchain must be the one the languages
need; banned tools are findings anywhere
check-container-pins.sh every FROM needs a 64-hex @sha256 digest
check-mint-tokens.sh answers read out of repo-init, not copied; a minted
tree with no generator has no answer for anything
render-mise.sh mise.toml is rendered, not inherited
pin-container-digests.sh writes the pins; refuses a placeholder digest
prune-archetype-modules.sh archetype prune.txt, so a library ships no image
survey-template-damage.sh runs the gates against real repositories
Mint (build/just/repo-init.just): token gate before the first write, overlay
file list recorded so only its own .in names are resolved, prune step, rendered
mise.toml, and four gates against the child before handoff.
Archetypes: julia-library gains scripts/julia-quality.jl plus the provisioning
deed that wires fmt/fmt-check/lint to it; rust-cli is new. Both prune
build/container/.
Also: quality fails when a verb reports N/A for every language; Mustfile and
Trustfile probes delegate to the scripts instead of globbing; a root LICENSE so
license-present and link:LICENSE resolve; validate-template.sh's unset
SCRIPT_DIR and .md-only CONTRIBUTING check; check-no-placeholders.sh's silent
death in a repo with no origin remote; PLACEHOLDERS.adoc separates the human
name, the identifier and the forge slug.

Changes: Repository minting and validation
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Gate contracts and implementations .machine_readable/contractiles/*, scripts/check-*.sh, scripts/survey-template-damage.sh
Adds or updates checks for license presence, SPDX headers, language-matched mise tools, pinned container images, and unanswered mint tokens. The survey script runs gates against cloned repositories.
Mint utilities and orchestration scripts/pin-container-digests.sh, scripts/prune-archetype-modules.sh, scripts/render-mise.sh, build/just/repo-init.just
Adds utilities to pin images, prune archetype paths, and render mise configuration. Repository initialization checks tokens before writing, records overlay files, applies pruning and renames, renders mise configuration, and runs gates against minted trees.
Julia and Rust CLI archetypes archetypes/README.adoc, archetypes/julia-library/*, archetypes/rust-cli/*
Adds Julia quality commands and Rust CLI templates, tests, and deeds. Both archetypes declare pruning of build/container/.
Quality enforcement and scaffold tests Justfile, .github/workflows/quality.yml, tests/workflows/*, tests/e2e/*, .machine_readable/mint-verbatim.txt
Changes quality to fail when a check fails or reports N/A for. Adds workflow coverage for gate fixtures, Julia and Rust scaffolds, and overlay-file renaming.
Template repairs and supporting records scripts/validate-template.sh, scripts/check-no-placeholders.sh, LICENSE, .machine_readable/ai/PLACEHOLDERS.adoc, .machine_readable/root-allow.txt, CHANGELOG.adoc, docs/reports/compliance/*, docs/architecture/REPOSITORY-MAP.adoc
Updates template validation and placeholder handling. Adds the MPL-2.0 license and records the gates, archetypes, and survey results in documentation.

Scope: static findings reported by each row's tool at the named commit. The table grades only findings in files this change touches, so the colour answers "does this change introduce anything?", not "what does the whole repository still carry?". Standing findings are counted in each accordion and in report.json; the baseline filter remains the place where acknowledged debt is recorded. The lane state is the worst GATING row; advisory rows are listed and counted but never set it. Purple, red, yellow and blue grade the worst GRADED finding present; orange is evidence missing, malformed or a scanner that did not run; grey is an explicit scope exclusion with its reason. No row is a security certification. report.json, badge.json and the raw findings are in the verdict-grid artifact on the linked run.
* `LICENSE` at the root was not on the root allowlist, so `check-root-shape.sh`
failed — in estate-rules and in the proven suite's "Root shape bidirectional
allowlist" lane. It is now `?LICENSE` (permitted, not required) with the
justification written into the allowlist: forges only detect LICENSE /
LICENSE.md / LICENSE.txt, and LICENSE.adoc stays authoritative. The Mustfile's
`license-present` and validate-template.sh both accept either spelling, since
the estate renamed LICENSE to LICENSE.adoc on 2026-10-26 and the probes never
followed.
* Hypatia flagged `npm run build` — it appeared inside a quoted example of the
old `[alias]` block in check-mise-language.sh's header comment. The comment now
describes the chain instead of quoting it.
* archetype_lock_merge_test.sh checked the .in rename by grepping repo-init for
each overlay workflow's own path. That worked only while the list was
hardcoded to three julia-library files, which this branch replaced with the
generic OVERLAY_FILES rule. The test now checks the rule (the overlay's file
list is recorded, iterated, and *.in is resolved inside it), so it also covers
any archetype added later rather than the three paths that existed when it was
written.

Return failure for Dockerfile-only repositories
When the scan finds one or more forbidden Dockerfiles but no Containerfile, FAILS is incremented above and then this branch unconditionally exits 0. Consequently the new mint-gates job and trust probe report success for exactly a repository that ships only a Dockerfile, despite printing a failure message; check FAILS before taking the no-Containerfile success path.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Fixed in 16c3089: the no-Containerfile path returns 1 when FAILS is non-zero. A Dockerfile-only tree now fails, with a control in tests/workflows/mint_gates_test.sh.

Register pinned build stages before continuing
For a valid multi-stage file such as FROM image@sha256:… AS build followed by FROM build, this successful pin check continues before build is added to STAGES at line 191. The second FROM is therefore misclassified as an unpinned remote image, causing the new container gate to reject ordinary stage-relative builds.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Fixed in 16c3089: a stage name is registered as soon as it is parsed, before any branch can continue, so FROM image@sha256:… AS build + FROM build passes. Control added.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Require one source extension per language, not every extension
The loop marks every absent extension as an empty declared language, although several language mappings contain alternative extensions. For example, a valid Elixir repository containing .ex but no .exs, an OCaml repository containing .ml but no .mli, or a Bun project containing .js but no .mjs/.cjs now fails this critical SPDX gate; emptiness must be evaluated across the complete extension set for each language.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Fixed in 16c3089: emptiness is judged per language across its whole extension set. A .ex-only Elixir tree passes; a language with no files of any of its extensions still fails.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Construct a valid dynamic using expression
A plain using PackageName is represented as Expr(:using, Expr(:., :PackageName)), while a colon expression represents the using A: b form (Julia's parser tests). Constructing Expr(:(:), modname) with no imported names therefore does not load the package and the catch path makes the new Julia lint verb fail for every generated package.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Derive Rust fixture identifiers from its repository slug
The real mint derives {{project}} from REPO, but this harness fixes it to demo_package and later mints the Rust fixture with the slug demo-rust. Its generated main.rs and integration test therefore reference demo_package::about() while Cargo exposes the crate as demo_rust; because the harness never compiles the scaffold, it reports a pass for a fixture that cannot build and cannot validate the real substitution path.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Fixed in 16c3089: substitute() derives PROJECT/project from the slug exactly as repo-init does, and the Rust section asserts the generated code refers to demo_rust.

Remove the Julia-specific [compat] wording from the Rust DEPS token.
Cargo has no [compat] table. That is a Julia Project.toml concept. This value is written into the minted repository's deed or docs. The archetype README says tokens must be honest values. Use a Cargo-accurate statement, for example crates.io via Cargo.toml, versions pinned in Cargo.lock.

repo-init asks for the project name and repository slug. It derives {{PROJECT}} and {{project}} from the slug; it does not ask for four answers. Update this guidance so users do not expect separate identifier prompts. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Regenerating mise.lock after rendering the toolchain is missing from the migration steps.
scripts/render-mise.sh deletes mise.lock when the tool set changes. The root-shape gate treats an unmarked allowlist entry as required. mise.lock is an unmarked entry, so a migrated repository that has no lock fails the gate. The remediation list does not tell the reader to regenerate the lock, so the migration can leave the repository failing. Add a step after the render step that regenerates and commits mise.lock. The script's own message names just toolchain-refresh for this, and that recipe needs mise installed.

Do not exempt a mint based only on its directory name.
If a mint has no origin and its checkout directory ends in -template-repo, this change reaches the basename fallback and the existing exemption returns success without scanning placeholders. This can occur when a template checkout retains its original directory name before the first push. Use repository identity or an explicit template marker to distinguish the template from a minted tree. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

… comment back
A red 'Proven 3-outcome' job said only 'Process completed with exit code 1'. The
lane table is printed at the end of the log, and the log itself is not reachable
from everywhere the failure needs to be triaged — the annotations endpoint is.
Each failed lane now emits ::error:: (and a lane that could not run emits
::warning::), so the job's title says which lane, in the PR and in the API.
Also moved the repo-init 'Regenerate what is DERIVED' comment back above the
step it describes: the toolchain block had been inserted between them.

Both mint end-to-end tests print the failing recipe's log to stderr and exit 1.
In Actions that becomes 'Process completed with exit code 1' plus a lane label,
so the reason lives only in the raw log. They now emit the tail of the log as an
error annotation.

The mint E2E failed on exactly this: a default `just repo-init` carries
build/container/Containerfile into the child, and that file has two
`FROM …:latest` lines and a body of TODO comments — it fails
`container-images-pinned` and could not build even if the pin were added. The
gate exempts it in the template (carrier module) and judges it in the child,
which is correct; the file was the problem.
Pinning was not available here (no registry access) and would still leave a
file that builds nothing. So: deleted. A repository that publishes an image adds
the file and pins it with scripts/pin-container-digests.sh;
build/container/README.adoc says so, and `just container-build` now explains it
instead of exiting with "No Containerfile found".
Verified by rebuilding a spine-only minted tree (archetypes/ removed, tokens
substituted, mise.toml rendered) and running all four gates plus the placeholder
check: clean.

…s verdict
check-spdx-headers.sh ended with a bare trailing test, so its exit status was
whatever the last expression evaluated to. Give it an explicit exit 0/1.
The mint's gate loop printed each script's output but not a verdict per gate, so
'the minted tree fails a gate' arrived without a matching FAIL line in the tail.
It now prints ' <gate>: OK' / ' <gate>: FAILED', and both mint E2E tests widen
their failure annotation to the last 40 log lines.

Two path bugs, one class. `git -C DIR ls-files` emits paths relative to DIR, so:
* check-spdx-headers counted files the mint had already pruned as 'missing a
header' (the index still lists them; head cannot read them), and the mint
aborted on 3 phantom findings in archetypes/;
* check-container-pins found no Containerfile at all when invoked with
--root /elsewhere, because its existence check tested a relative path against
the caller's cwd. The mint runs these gates from the template's cwd against the
child tree, so the pin gate reported 'nothing to pin' on a tree that had three
floating images.
Both now emit absolute paths and skip paths that no longer exist, and
mint_gates_test.sh covers each: a git fixture with a deleted tracked file (SPDX)
and a git fixture judged from a foreign cwd (pins). 32/32 controls hold.

Prune the ABI/FFI spine from Julia mints
For just repo-init julia-library, this list removes only the container module, so the minted tree retains src/interface/abi.ipkg and src/interface/ffi/build.zig. The provisioning engine consequently detects Idris2 and Zig alongside Julia, renders those extra toolchains into mise.toml, and makes the inherited quality recipes build and test the unrelated ABI/FFI seam; the Julia archetype should prune those modules just as its capability profile excludes them.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Propagate failures from the prune helper
If an archetype's prune.txt is malformed—for example, it contains an absolute or traversal path—the helper exits 2, but its status is hidden by this process substitution: the while loop still succeeds under set -e and the mint prints that pruning was applied before continuing. Capture the helper output in a checked command first so a refused prune cannot produce a partially specialized child.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Keep root shape valid when changing the mise tool set
Whenever an archetype changes the template's tool set, this deletes mise.lock, but .machine_readable/root-allow.txt marks that file as required and the inherited Estate Rules workflow runs check-root-shape.sh. Because repo-init does not regenerate the lock before handoff, both newly minted Julia and Rust children immediately fail their root-shape gate; either make the absent lock an explicitly conforming state or generate a valid replacement during the mint.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Add Cargo manifests to the root allowlist
Every rust-cli mint places this manifest at the repository root, but .machine_readable/root-allow.txt permits neither Cargo.toml nor the Cargo.lock that the first Cargo build creates. The inherited check-root-shape.sh therefore rejects a fresh Rust child immediately for the extra Cargo.toml even before a build; add the Cargo root files to the capability-gated allowlist when introducing this archetype.

Show the required digest argument in container-init
When an operator follows this newly printed next step, pin-container-digests.sh always exits 1 because --base is mandatory and must contain a 64-character digest. The README shows the usable form, but the interactive container-init guidance omits it, so the advertised remediation cannot pin anything; include --base <digest> (and the optional runtime digest) in this command.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Reject missing option values instead of looping
If this gate is invoked with a missing value, such as check-container-pins.sh --root, ${2:-} assigns an empty value and shift 2 fails without consuming any argument. Because the new gate scripts use set -uo pipefail rather than set -e, the parser then repeats forever instead of returning the documented usage exit 2; validate that a second argument exists before shifting. The same value-parsing pattern is repeated by the other newly added gate CLIs.

Honor --tsv when printing search metadata
With --tsv --from-search, these two metadata lines are still emitted before the tabular header because the parsed TSV flag is never consulted anywhere in the script. Strict TSV consumers consequently receive one-column records before the five-column table even though the option promises machine-readable table output only; suppress the human search summary when TSV=1.
…r own subject
Each of these passed a test that could not reach the defect.
check-container-pins.sh
* the "nothing to pin" success path was taken even after a Dockerfile had
incremented FAILS, so the one repository shape the Dockerfile rule exists to
catch reported PASS;
* a stage name was registered only AFTER the line that continues, so the
ordinary `FROM image@sha256:… AS build` + `FROM build` pair was judged an
unpinned remote image. Register it when parsed.
pin-container-digests.sh
* every FROM line was rewritten, so `FROM scratch` and `FROM build` became
`scratch@sha256:…`/`build@sha256:…` — corrupting the multi-stage files it
should leave alone, while the companion gate accepted the result. Split the
instruction into flags/reference/tail and rewrite only a remote reference.
check-spdx-headers.sh
* emptiness was judged per EXTENSION, so an Elixir tree with .ex and no .exs
(or OCaml .ml without .mli) failed for a language it is written in. Judge it
per language, across that language's extensions.
render-mise.sh / provision-lib.sh
* --langs only changed the label; the tools still came from the tree's own
detection, so a fixture asking for julia was handed the docs toolchain.
`mise-tools` now takes the language list.
* --check compared the whole rendered file, so it could never pass on any
repository that wrote its own header — the template included. It compares the
declared toolchain now, and still fails on a missing or foreign tool.
check-mise-language.sh
* only bare [tools] keys were parsed, and backend-qualified tools MUST be
quoted ("npm:prettier"), so the banned-tool check could not see them;
* the --detect mirror looked only at the root, calling a tree whose markers are
src/interface/abi.ipkg and src/interface/ffi/build.zig a docs repository. It
now uses provision-lib's depths and lists mise tools rather than each
language's binaries (the mirror disagreed with the engine on rust, elixir,
gleam, ocaml and haskell).
check-mint-tokens.sh
* "no build/just/repo-init.just" was taken as proof of a minted tree, but the
mint carries that recipe verbatim into every child, so no child was ever
recognised and an unfilled {{PROJECT_NAME}} passed here and in
survey-template-damage.sh. The marker is archetypes/, which the mint deletes.
archetypes/{julia-library,rust-cli}/prune.txt
* both presets declare neither the abi nor the ffi capability, yet both kept
src/interface/, so a minted Julia package detected three languages and
installed idris2 and zig. Both prune it now; validate-rsr requires the seam
only of a tree that carries it, and the archetype test asserts the toolchain
is single-language.
julia-quality.jl
* JuliaFormatter's return value does not reliably mean "would rewrite": the
fmt-check inverted it. Format a copy and diff the bytes instead;
* `Expr(:using, Expr(:(:), modname))` is the `using A: b` form and loads
nothing, so `lint` failed for every package. Parse "using <mod>".
language_profiles_mint_test.sh
* {{PROJECT}}/{{project}} were constants, so the Rust fixture generated
demo_package::about() in a crate named demo_rust. Derive them from the slug
as the recipe does, and assert the generated code uses the derived name.
survey-template-damage.sh
* --keep promised to leave clones for inspection and then deleted each one.

Restore SPDX coverage for all supported source extensions
When a repository contains Lean, ReScript, Factor, F#, or Nix sources alongside any scanned file, this gate ignores those sources and can still report full SPDX coverage. The validator this replaces explicitly scanned lean, res, resi, factor, fs, and nix, and this repository currently contains verification/proofs/lean4/ApiTypes.lean; adding these extensions to the known/estate mappings is necessary to avoid silently weakening the critical licensing gate.

Preserve registry ports when removing image tags
When an untagged image uses a registry port, such as registry.example:5000/team/image, ${base%:*} removes everything from the port delimiter onward and rewrites the reference as registry.example@sha256:…. The pinner therefore silently points at a different image; determine whether a colon occurs after the final slash before treating it as a tag separator.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Register named scratch stages before skipping them
When a valid multi-stage file begins with FROM scratch AS base and later uses FROM base, this early continue runs before base is added to stages, so the second line is rewritten as FROM base@sha256:…. The fresh remaining case beyond the earlier plain-scratch fix is specifically a named scratch stage; record its alias before taking the scratch exemption.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Reject display names as Julia package identifiers
The new fixture uses the documented human-readable value Demo Package, then treats name = "Demo Package" and a correspondingly named .jl file as successful output. The generated source contains module Demo Package and the tests contain using Demo Package, which are invalid Julia syntax, but this CI job never invokes Julia and therefore reports the broken scaffold as passing; derive a valid package identifier separately (for example from the <Name>.jl slug) and assert that value here.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Validate seam requirements from declared capabilities
When a capability-bearing/default repository loses the entire src/interface directory, this condition is false and no missing seam entry is recorded, so complete deletion passes validate-rsr even though deleting only one seam component fails. Decide whether the ABI/FFI seam is required from the repository's declared rsr-profile or archetype preset rather than from the presence of the directory being validated.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Check the required lockfile setting in --check mode
When mise.toml declares the expected tool names but omits [settings] lockfile = true or sets it to false, this branch still exits successfully because it compares only the [tools] keys. That certifies a file which no longer has the lockfile behavior this renderer explicitly promises, so validate the required setting separately while continuing to ignore harmless prose differences.
The task will inspect the CI failures, validate its fix, and commit the fix to this branch automatically.
Note: Fixing CI failures is a beta feature and may encounter errors. Expect some limitations and changes as we gather feedback and continue to improve it.

Check the image before registering its stage alias
When a stage alias equals its untagged image reference, such as FROM alpine AS alpine, adding the current alias to STAGES before this line makes the same line look stage-relative, so the gate accepts an implicitly floating alpine:latest image. Compare ref only against previously registered stages, then register the new alias before any later continue.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Derive recipe tools instead of always requiring Trivy
For an engine-less repository whose recipes do not invoke Trivy, --detect now unconditionally expects trivy and reports an otherwise correct mise.toml as missing a language tool. The provisioning engine's recipe_tools() emits Trivy only when a non-comment recipe references it, so the survey fallback should perform the same check rather than adding it to every detected toolchain.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Inspect every configuration file that mise merges
When a repository has the expected tools in mise.toml but declares a banned or foreign runtime in .mise.toml or .tool-versions, this gate reads only mise.toml and reports a pass even though mise loads all three configurations. The existing provisioning predicate explicitly merges these files, so this critical toolchain gate and the estate survey should use the same declaration set; for example, .tool-versions containing python 3.13 currently goes unnoticed.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Avoid accumulating packages in the shared lint environment
When a developer lints more than one Julia repository, this Pkg.develop permanently adds each package to the single default ~/.cache/rsr/julia-quality project. Subsequent lint runs therefore resolve against every previously checked package and can fail because an earlier checkout was moved or deleted, or because its dependency constraints conflict with the current package; activate a per-run project while retaining Julia's depot cache, or remove the developed package after the check.
