    • Updated repository manifests and maintenance automation to recognise the central guide and detect duplicate copies consistently.

Walkthrough

The pull request moves contribution guidance to .github/CONTRIBUTING.md. It removes the root AsciiDoc guide, updates repository references, and changes duplicate-file checks and cleanup workflows to use the new Markdown location.

Changes

Contributing guide migration

Layer / File(s) Summary
Canonical guide content
.github/CONTRIBUTING.md, CONTRIBUTING.adoc
The new Markdown guide contains contribution, setup, workflow, reporting, conduct, and licensing information. The root AsciiDoc guide is removed.
Duplicate guide enforcement
deno/.github/..., editors/vscode/.github/..., haskell/.github/..., pandoc/.github/..., rs/.github/..., validate-action/.github/..., .machine_readable/contractiles/dust/*

The migration leaves links pointing at different guides and disables the checks and cleanup intended to prevent duplicate contribution guidance. Correct these paths before merge so the canonical-guide policy is actually enforced.

- Around line 71-74: Update the workflow’s duplicate-guide check and removal
commands to use checkout-root paths: test .github/CONTRIBUTING.md as the
canonical file and deno/.github/CONTRIBUTING.md as the duplicate, then update
the FIXES message accordingly. Apply the same corresponding project-relative
paths in the other five project workflows, preserving the existing CHANGED

so the canonical path is ../.github/CONTRIBUTING.md for deno, haskell, pandoc,

validate-action unchanged.

In `@deno/CONTRIBUTING.adoc`:
- Line 22: Update the CONTRIBUTING.adoc link target to the repository’s
top-level .github/CONTRIBUTING.md using the displayed label “Contributing

In `@pandoc/CONTRIBUTING.adoc`:
- Line 22: Update the contribution-guide link target in all three files to point
to the repository-level manual at ../.github/CONTRIBUTING.md, keeping the
existing visible link label unchanged.

In `@validate-action/.machine_readable/contractiles/dust/Dustfile.a2ml`:
- Line 38: Update the run command in the Dustfile check to reference
../.github/CONTRIBUTING.md instead of ../../../../.github/CONTRIBUTING.md,
preserving the existing test for CONTRIBUTING.md and negated condition.

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Use the repository-relative path for the canonical contributing guide. The Dust command runs from each component root, so ../../../../.github/CONTRIBUTING.md resolves above the repository root in deno, haskell, pandoc, and rs. In editors/vscode, ../../../../../.github/CONTRIBUTING.md also resolves above the repository root. If a component contains CONTRIBUTING.md, the missing second file makes the test expression false, so the negation passes and does not detect the duplicate.

Change the five checks to use ../.github/CONTRIBUTING.md in deno, haskell, pandoc, and rs, and ../../.github/CONTRIBUTING.md in editors/vscode. Do not change validate-action here.
