ci(code-coverage): triage variable Code Coverage job (flake suspect) #144

Closed

Description

@hyperpolymath

Forked from #92 close-out.

Symptom

Code Coverage workflow variability noted in original #92: PR #91 ran 11m33s green, others 10m54s red.

Scope

  • Confirm flake vs systemic.
  • If flake: add retry logic or split into smaller jobs.
  • If systemic: identify which test or coverage step is failing.

Acceptance

  • Stable green on main for at least 5 consecutive runs after fix.

    Closing stale — the Code Coverage job (named per the original pre-#108 rust-ci.yml) no longer exists.

    Investigation:

    • PR ci(rust): convert rust-ci.yml to thin wrapper (standards#174) #108 (b407293) replaced the inline Code Coverage job with a call to the standards reusable, where the coverage job is named Coverage (tarpaulin + codecov).
    • enable_coverage: true IS set in the wrapper (.github/workflows/rust-ci.yml:21) so coverage still runs — but under the new name.
    • HEAD-of-main check-runs — no Code Coverage name; the new Coverage (tarpaulin + codecov) check appears as expected on PRs.
    • Branch-protection required_status_checks — no Code Coverage listed.

    If Coverage variability is observed under the new name, file a fresh tracker citing actual recent failing runs against Coverage (tarpaulin + codecov).
