Description
There is no Rust .deed parser anywhere, and rs/ is not one
rs/ reads as the ecosystem's Rust implementation. It is not. Measured 2026-09-22 from rs/Cargo.toml:
[package]
name = "a2ml"
version = "0.1.0"
description = "Parser and renderer for A2ML (Attested Markup Language)"
repository = "https://github.com/hyperpolymath/a2ml-rs"
homepage = "https://github.com/hyperpolymath/a2ml-rs"Three things follow:
- It is the A2ML crate, not a DEED crate. Name, description and both URLs say so.
- Its
repository/homepagepoint at a different repo (hyperpolymath/a2ml-rs), socargometadata for anything built here advertises the wrong origin. - A2ML is superseded. The owner's standing doctrine is that A2ML is dead and must not be pushed around, left in place, built on, or connected to anything new.
rs/sitting unmigrated insidedeed-ecosystemis all four at once, by position.
Why it matters now
hyperpolymath/standards#837 (owner ruling D73-C) is translating real files to .deed, and the first consumer that needs a Rust reader — launch-scaffolder's crates/launcher-common — has to be told explicitly not to reach for deed-ecosystem/rs, because the name implies it is the right dependency and it is not. That instruction currently lives only in session notes. It should live here.
Acceptance criteria
rs/is one of: migrated to an actual.deedparser, renamed so its name does not imply one, or removed fromdeed-ecosystem— decided explicitly, not left ambiguous.- If any Rust
.deedparser is to exist, this issue names where it lives, so consumers have one answer. repositoryandhomepagein any survivingCargo.tomlpoint at the repo that actually contains the crate.- A note in
README.adocstating the Rust status, so the next consumer does not have to measureCargo.tomlto find out. - Regression: a check that no crate inside
deed-ecosystemdeclaresname = "a2ml".
