Expo SDK 57 app with Convex, Better Auth, and HeroUI Native.

Stack

• Expo Router on iOS, Android, and web
• Convex backend and HTTP routes
• Better Auth email/password sessions
• Expo SecureStore on native; cross-domain cookies on web
• HeroUI Native with Uniwind and Tailwind CSS 4

Local setup

Install dependencies:

pnpm install

Authenticate Convex CLI with account owning target project, then link deployment:

pnpm exec convex dev --configure existing --once

Set required backend configuration. Omit the secret value to enter it interactively:

pnpm exec convex env set BETTER_AUTH_SECRET
pnpm exec convex env set SITE_URL http://localhost:8081

Generate the Better Auth secret with openssl rand -base64 32. Never prefix it with EXPO_PUBLIC_.

Push backend and keep code generation current:

pnpm run convex:dev

Start Expo in another terminal:

pnpm start

The app currently contains one production-shaped email/password flow: registration, login, session restoration, validation, server errors, and sign-out.
