Why

The "12a" stacked-dome mark merged in #11 read as an upside-down screw/mushroom. Two iterations followed on feedback: a ringed planet (too blob-like), then a multi-color geometric layered mark (right direction, but busy).

What changed

Final mark in app/components/ui/Logo.tsx: a simple, single-color, geometric exobase mark.

  • Three precise, faceted atmospheric shells rising from a horizon to a single point of light that has launched beyond them - the abstracted exosphere culminating at the exobase.
  • One professional brand purple (#9A3AD9) across every element - no gradient.
  • Angular by design: sharp mitered corners, flat caps, three layers.
  • Legible down to the 28px header size. Wordmark (lowercase exobase in Space Grotesk) unchanged, as is the Header.tsx / waitlist.tsx usage.

Only Logo.tsx changes; no other files touched.

Test plan

  • pnpm run typecheck / lint / build
  • Verify in browser preview on / and /waitlist

The "12a" stacked-dome mark read as an upside-down screw/mushroom: the
discs widened toward the top, and only the top disc was purple over a
muddy grey stack. Replace it with a clean ringed-planet mark in the
Interspace purple gradient (indigo #2C2EA5 -> purple #9A3AD9, violet
#5E17EB orbit ring). Legible down to the 28px header size. Wordmark
(lowercase "exobase" in Space Grotesk) is unchanged.

Reworks the icon per feedback: the ringed planet read as too blob-like.
Keeps the layers concept but reduces to 3 precise, faceted atmospheric
shells rising from a horizon to a single point of light - angular and
geometric (sharp mitered corners, flat caps), evoking the layered
exosphere culminating at the exobase. Interspace gradient: indigo
#2C2EA5 (dense lower layer) -> violet #B388FF (exobase boundary), on a
#5E17EB horizon. Wordmark unchanged.

@heyinterspace heyinterspace changed the title fix: redesign Exobase logo mark as a ringed planet fix: redesign Exobase logo mark (geometric 3-layer exobase) Jul 9, 2026
Per feedback: drop the multi-color gradient for one professional brand
purple (#9A3AD9) across all three faceted atmosphere shells, the horizon,
and the launched point of light. Keeps the abstracted star-into-atmosphere
concept; simpler and cleaner. Wordmark unchanged.
