I am a California-based software engineer with more than two years of hands-on experience across cloud architecture, backend systems, applied AI, and technical education. I enjoy translating ambiguous, real-world problems into systems that are understandable, testable, and useful.
Created and taught a practical AWS deployment path covering Docker, GitHub Actions, EC2, ECR, ECS, RDS, Amplify, and S3. The material connects cloud fundamentals with repeatable deployment workflows and supported my AWS masterclass for UTEC students.
Co-built the winning UTEC CS2031 team project: a tutoring marketplace backed by Java, Spring Boot, Spring Security, PostgreSQL, hexagonal architecture, vertical slicing, and asynchronous Whereby integration. I contributed 46 commits to the public backend repository.
Co-built a handwritten-digit recognizer with backpropagation implemented in C++, supported by CMake, automated tests, documentation, and a Flask web experience. I contributed 29 commits and helped turn the model into an interactive application.
Created an interactive AI art installation that transformed detected emotions into poetry, narration, and generative visuals. The project combined computer vision, an emotion-recognition model, OpenAI, Stable Diffusion, and text-to-speech, and was exhibited at Lima's Museum of Contemporary Art.
My public TripleTen work lives under @gromero-ca. Spots demonstrates responsive design, BEM, modular JavaScript, API integration, and deployment; the Todo application focuses on component-oriented JavaScript and client-side validation.
Additional applied-AI work includes butterfly classification with logistic regression, SVM, KNN, and decision trees, plus a contribution to the four-person SkillBoost team project.
At UTEC, I helped restructure and teach Platform-Based Development content for more than 600 students and created over 100 hours of technical material across AWS, Docker, CI/CD, Spring Boot, React, cybersecurity, and system design. I also served as a teaching assistant for introductory computer science and delivered an AWS cloud masterclass.
Teaching sharpened the way I engineer: make assumptions explicit, document decisions, reduce accidental complexity, and leave systems easier for the next person to understand.
