Gabriel Monteiro Alonso

I like building things and figuring out how they work. It is really satisfying about turning an idea into something people can actually use.

Right now, my main focus is TypeScript and React. I enjoy learning by building real projects, running into problems, and figuring out how to solve them.

Things I've built

dictate.

A voice-to-text app I'm building for iPhone and Mac. I work on pretty much everything, from the app itself (Swift/SwiftUI) to the backend (TypeScript and Convex), as well as the product side of things.

WhatsApp Audio Transcriber

A Chrome extension that turns WhatsApp Web voice messages into text. Built with TypeScript and React, with local caching, automated tests, and CI.

It's open source and available on the Chrome Web Store.

DictateOSS

An open-source dictation app for macOS. It runs Whisper locally using MLX, with the option to use Groq for faster transcription.

What I'm learning

  • Currently pursuing an MBA in Software Engineering at USP/ESALQ.
  • Going deeper into TypeScript, react and computer science in general.
