TreeViz is built to be driven by AI coding agents such as Claude Code and
Codex. Install the treeviz-agent skill from this repository, then describe
the figure in plain language. The agent loads the tree and metadata, styles the
figure through the TreeViz browser API, checks the layout diagnostics and
exports the result. The same app also works by hand in the browser.

Copy the skill directory into the agent's skills folder:

cp -R treeviz/.agents/skills/treeviz-agent ~/.codex/skills/Restart the agent so it loads the skill. The skill uses the hosted app at
https://treeviz.newlineages.com/?api=1, so the agent also needs a way to
drive a browser, such as Playwright, agent-browser or Claude in Chrome. To
update the skill, pull the clone and copy the directory again.
Example request:
Use the treeviz-agent skill. Draw tree.nwk as a circular tree, color the
leaves by the phylum column in metadata.tsv, add a heatmap ring for the
abundance columns, and export an SVG and a .treeviz.json session.
