The output writes log records to a Manticore Search table through the HTTP /bulk endpoint, as NDJSON lines. A record goes as it is: the daemon takes its "id" field as the document id or generates one. Regular mode sends every chunk as one /bulk request of insert or create operations, which Manticore runs as one transaction. A retryable item status, 408, 429 or a 5xx reply without item statuses retries the chunk; any other failure drops it. Shared mode loads a finite source into one table with Manticore's bulk_import. Data requests stage the records, Shared_Indexers sets how many indexers the daemon starts for the load, and one Finish request sent from the exit callback publishes it. The load is published only if every chunk was delivered; otherwise the log names the statement that cancels the staged data. Signed-off-by: Stas Klinov <stas@manticoresearch.com>
The formatter test checks the NDJSON lines of Regular insert and create and of Shared, for records with and without their own id. A bad mode, action, shared_indexers or an empty table fails the start. Signed-off-by: Stas Klinov <stas@manticoresearch.com>
A local receiver answers as the Manticore /bulk endpoint. The Regular case checks the request lines, a retried item and a dropped one. The Shared cases check the requests of one load and the Finish sent at exit, the Finish over TLS with workers 0, an empty source, retried and malformed replies, a failed Finish, and loads that end with pending, exhausted or failed data and so are not published. was never sent from a sent request with an unconfirmed reply. In the
session_started handling, log the PURGE recovery message for FLB_ERROR and the
never-sent status, and reserve the completion-unknown message for a sent request
with an unconfirmed reply.
- Around line 470-474: Serialize Shared-mode start requests by adding an atomic
session_starting state and claiming it before selecting bulk_uri; callbacks that
cannot claim it should release their acquired resources and retry. In the
request completion handling, clear the claim on both success and failure, and
preserve setting session_started on success so later requests use join_uri.

Only a load that failed before the Finish named the statement that cancels its staged data. A Finish that the daemon rejected left the load unpublished without it, and a Finish that could not be sent at all was reported as unknown. Count a Finish that was never sent as not published, and log the statement for every unpublished load; only a Finish sent without a confirmed reply stays unknown, since the load may have been published. A Finish that the daemon rejects must log the statement that cancels the staged data, and a Finish with an unknown outcome must not. Signed-off-by: Stas Klinov <stas@manticoresearch.com>

Hi @eschabell, thanks again for the review of the docs PR fluent/fluent-bit-docs#2785 and for the patch, it was really helpful. The docs PR is approved and waits for this one but there is no movement here yet. The CI workflows still wait for approval to run as it is my first PR to fluent-bit and nobody has looked at the code so far. Could you help with a review here, or maybe tag someone who usually reviews new output plugins? Thanks, |

Will this build for all release targets with no modification? This includes Windows and macOS plus all the various Linux targets defined in the packaging/ directory. You can test this in advance for the Linux targets as they use containers to build each specific target.

Thanks Patrick, good question. The packaging workflow (pr-package-tests.yaml with the ok-package-test label) runs only for PRs from this repo, so I ran it for this branch in our fork:
https://github.com/manticoresoftware/fluent-bit/actions/runs/39788860168
Linux
All 39 targets from packaging/build-config.json built their packages and out_manticore compiled in each of them with no warnings.
The rockylinux/9 job is red only because the step after the build, "Retrieve target info for repo creation", timed out after 5 minutes. The packages were already built and uploaded.
Windows
The x64, x86 and arm64 packages built there too, and here the Windows checks with the unit tests passed.
macOS
The Apple Silicon package built with no compiler warnings from the plugin. The Intel job did not start, it needs the macos-14-large runner which our fork does not have.
Docker
The container images built as well.
The plugin uses only Fluent Bit core APIs, with no new dependencies and no platform specific code.
One more thing about the CI of this PR: the unit test failures are in flb-rt-out_http (out_http.c:91) and flb-rt-out_s3 with ASan, flb-rt-out_manticore passed in every job. Because of them the macOS, aarch64 and qemu jobs were skipped. Could you re-run the failed jobs of this PR, so they run too?
