Summary

  • The wiki menu follows what the family looks for (Start, Recent, Diary, People, Topics, Documents, Notes & links) instead of the vault's folders. Topics are grouped by area of life and appear once something is filed under them; documents are listed by type, year and sender. Nothing moves on disk.
  • Every page opens with breadcrumbs that follow the menu, a label saying what it is, one title, and chips linking a document to its topics and people. List pages show date, type, sender and people instead of raw tags.
  • Fixes links that opened a 404: diary year and month links, and diary entries cited on generated pages.

An existing instance needs only ./stack restart memory: topic areas come from the ontology shipped with the wiki when the vault does not name them. Diary and reference links are rewritten the next time those pages are regenerated.

@arthware-dev arthware-dev changed the title feat(wiki)!: sort the wiki menu by what the family looks for feat(wiki)!: restructure and polish the wiki Sep 26, 2026
The wiki's menu showed the vault's folders, which are laid out for the
programs that write them: kinds of records and topics side by side
under `family/`, the diary three folders down, documents only by date,
folder slugs instead of names.

The menu now follows the family's questions, in this order: Start,
Recent, Diary, People, Topics, Documents, Notes & links.

- Topics group the ontology's topics and the family's chat-room topics
by area of life. A topic appears once something is filed under it,
  with a count.
- Documents are listed by type, by year and by sender.
- Topics without a page of their own, document types, notes and
  bookmarks get generated list pages.
- Labels follow `[core] language` (English and German).

Nothing moves on disk. The ontology gains an optional `area` per topic
and `[area.<id>]` groups, which the classifier ignores. A vault seeded
before areas existed takes them from the ontology shipped with the
wiki, so an existing instance needs only `./stack restart memory`.
README files are no longer published in the wiki.
The home page's References linked diary entries by their file path,
but the wiki does not publish `diary/entries/`, so those links went
nowhere. A cited entry now links to the month page that shows it.
Pages now open the same way: breadcrumbs that follow the menu, a label
saying what the page is, one title, and a line with the date, the
sender and chips linking to the page's topics and people. A document
reached from Documents leads on to its topics from there.

- List pages show a date, the title and what each entry is (type,
sender, people) instead of raw tags.
- Documents gets an overview page and a page per year; document lists
sort by the document's own date.
- The sidebar title keeps the family's name first, set like the page
titles, with search at full width.
- Thin scrollbars; German labels for the footer and the greeting.
Less space between the title, search and menu, shorter menu rows, and
both sidebars start at the top edge of the page card.

On a phone the menu opens as a panel over the page, under the header
row, instead of inside that row where it squeezed the title and search.
It folds when a page opens or on a tap outside it. The family's name
stays on one line.
The diary index linked each year as `2026/about` and each year page its
months as `03`, relative to the page. The wiki resolves links from the
vault root, where those name no page, so every year and month link on
the diary pages opened a 404.

The links are now root-based (`/family/diary/2026/03`), like the other
links the wiki generates. The pages are rewritten the next time the
diary compiles.

A person page rebuilt after new filings cited the wrong diary entries:
"heart-shaped pancakes" linked to the Halloween entry, and most dated
lines on a page with diary sources pointed at a neighbouring entry.
Document and note citations were right.

A rebuild renumbers the previous page's citations by matching each
reference to the current evidence. The References block links a diary
entry to its month page, but the match looked for the entry's own path,
so no diary citation matched, kept its old number, and every diary
entry was offered to the model as new.

- Match a source by the title and link its References row shows, read
from one helper the References block uses as well.
- Stamp the person pages the compiler writes. A page without the stamp
is rebuilt once from the evidence alone, so the wrong citations
already in a page's text are not carried forward as its baseline.
