This web application helps users discover the best trees/plants to plant based on their location (Only Danish locations). The suggestions are derived from a dataset provided by GBIF (Global Biodiversity Information Facility).
- Clone this repository.
- Open project in an IDE.
- Set Up Own API Keys.
- Open http://localhost:8080/ in a webbrowser.
Simply enter a street name in Denmark, and the app will fetch location data and suggest suitable trees/plants to plant based on your input.
🌿 This project uses a dataset derived from GBIF, filtered to include plant observations in Denmark from the dataset “Species recordings from the Danish National Portal Arter.dk”.

The dataset has been modified by reducing the number of columns from 223 to 6 to fit the needs of this project. The modified version is available here: https://github.com/esralund01/PlantTreeAI.
Data accessed through the GBIF network is free to use under the GBIF Data User Agreement.
🏡 This project uses data from the Danish "Styrelsen for Dataforsyning og Infrastruktur" (Dawa). The data used includes access addresses, and it was retrieved in April 2025.
