JOREK: 3D Non-linear MHD and Hybrid Fluid-Kinetic Code for Fusion Plasma Simulations

License: LGPLv3 CITATION

About JOREK

The non-linear extended MHD code JOREK resolves realistic toroidal tokamak X-point geometries with a G1 continuous flux-surface aligned grid including main plasma, scrape-off layer and divertor region. It is based on robust fully implicit numerics, and includes sheath boundary conditions, resistive wall effects, two-fluid effects and neoclassical flows, kinetic particle models, and further extensions. Main physics applications are the physics and control of disruptions and edge localized modes (ELMs).

License

JOREK is licensed under LGPLv3.0-or-later. For contributions: Sign commits with Signed-off-by (DCO 1.1), where DCO refers to Developer Certificate of Origin that ensures compliance with the license requirements.

Citing JOREK

All publications using JOREK must cite the overview article (Nuclear Fusion 61, 065001 (2021)) and relevant prior works listed in CITATION.cff and on the JOREK code website. GitHub generates BibTeX/APA.

Community Rules

  • Forks/Renaming: Stick to 'JOREK' or 'JOREK-fork'. Renaming fragments the community—merge upstream!
  • Share all own developments based on the code with the community via pull requests upstream to the central repository.
  • Include the JOREK Team as co-author in all publications referring to the most recent JOREK overview article as affiliation/footnote. At present this is "For a list of JOREK team members refer to the author list of M Hoelzl, GTA Huijsmans, FJ Artola, E Nardon, M Becoulet, N Schwarz, A Cathey, SJP Pamela et al. Nuclear Fusion 64, 112016 (2024) Doi: 10.1088/1741-4326/ad5a21".
  • Contributions: Pull requests require DCO. Discuss in Issues.
  • Code of Conduct: See GOVERNANCE.md
