Re-adds the empty-VSS-file guard removed during the non-incremental refactor. Without this check the build silently succeeded and wiped the output directory, giving users no feedback on a misconfigured searchPath. Includes a functional test that verifies the build fails with a descriptive message when the configured VSS directory is empty.
Husky v9 removed the `husky install` subcommand. The postinstall script must now call `husky` directly, otherwise npm install emits a deprecation warning and may fail in CI environments running Node with strict mode.
