Define

To license a product we should tell Passage, what the product is. To license a part of a product, we, again, should notify Passage on how it can recognize one.

Passage expects the following metainformation.

Project definition

Project is a simple notion: it has a unique name identifier and a version, which evolves according to your release plan.

Each version of the product is to be defined separately for Passage as they are all different licensing targets.

Feature definition

Feature is like a product in a product. Is also is defined with an identifier and a version. A feature versions are evolving its own way, which can or cannot correlate with the embracing product evolution.

Work to do

Thus, for define phase, you should

  • invent a product identifier and a version, which are the key values for the whole licensing configuration;

  • optionally grasp sets of separable functionality (features), identify each of them, and assign a version to the current state of them.
