- CI: add PHP 8.6 to the PHPUnit and PHAR test matrices; setup-php installs a nightly build of the PHP-8.6 branch until 8.6.0 is released. - .docker/run-tests.sh: run 8.6 on the 8.6-rc-cli image, extended with mbstring (needed by PHPUnit, not included in the official 8.6 images). The test suite and the PHAR pass on PHP 8.6.0RC4. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
- Docblock annotations (@dataProvider, @before) to attributes (#[DataProvider], #[Before]); PHPUnit 12+ ignores annotations. - Data providers are static. - phpunit.xml.dist for PHPUnit 13: fail on deprecations, notices and warnings (replaces convertDeprecationsToExceptions); source directory. - Ignore .phpunit.cache/. - composer.json: "php": "^8.6", "phpunit/phpunit": "^13.4". - CI: test and build the PHAR on PHP 8.6 only (nightly until 8.6.0 is released); drop the workarounds for old PHP versions (Composer 2.2 LTS, installing PHPUnit versions with security advisories). - box.json: let Box generate the autoloader and add its requirement checker, so the PHAR refuses PHP < 8.6 with a clear message. - .docker/run-tests.sh: PHP 8.6 only. - AGENTS.md: coding rules for 2.0 (modernise without API changes, PHPUnit 13) replace the PHP 5.3 rules. - Release plan: Composer constraint ^8.6, PHPUnit 13.
