   Just to confirm you were using the newer Upgrade process for this?

   Do you have a copy of the log files from /portals/_default/logs that you could share so we can see the details on the failure?

   Can you clarify the steps to reproduce

   • Install <- Which version?
   • Add a soncond language (which one, just the language or did you install a pecific language pack, be very descriptive on how this was done).
   • Update <- Update DNN to 10.4.0 ??? If so form what (see first step)

   installation of DNN 10.4.0 fails at 50% due to missing function:

   I am very surprised that the "fieldCount" error is not part of those logs...

   And this is a normal plain 10.3.3 starting site or did that have some experiments with the new MVC pipeline or other similar things.

   I think the error we see in the logs would happen at next startup and not in the middle of the install so I wonder if the logs represent those screenshots or we may be chasing 2 different issues.

   Does this site include old 3rd party extensions or themes or does this happen on a clean 10.3.3 just by having that language installed (and let us know which and where you got the language pack).

   I now searched all sourrounding logs for "fieldCount". No such error....

   I now installed a clean 10.3.3 build. Selecting "German" installed your language pack automatically.
   No problems with this build, I successfully upgraded it...

   

   But I have two running sites, one installed 2008 or so and one newer site installed 2019. I "always" upgraded them "successfully" and they are both running on 10.3.3 now.

   Both sites are basically just your installation with not many or any 3rdparty moduls installed. I coded my own theme, starting from your home.ascx, and modules based on your view.aspx templates based on PortalModuleBase and they seem to work, I have full control over them.

   I don't use any mvc in my modules.

   On my second newer site "identiy switcher" is the only 3rd party module. I'd love to update those modules but your links lead to nowhere.

   

   So to conclude: This problem doesn't affect a new Installation. But it affects BOTH of my Installations. I don't think that this is a language issue, but you should always test your upgrades WITH a second language installed please.

   This is the only error I see that I'm sure that it's not my errror:

   fieldcount 0 - 2 might may be a hint to: PASS 0 - 2 parameters to the function LogOtherExceptions(param1, param2) but there is no Function for YOUR 2 parameters ... well I don't know either.

   I could not find the word "fieldCount" in your running installation. In your actual source code I find:

   

   I don't think it's the Version, but it might be an sql update query.

   I don't have googlemaps in my 2nd installation, so this might not be the error, but maybe BouncyCastle.Cryptography.dll or the following libraries are the problem???

   So for now I don't know more, please inform me if you need more information I don't want to exit DNN at Version 10.3.3...

   you should always test your upgrades WITH a second language installed please

   This is an open source project without a dedicated paid testing team, we do release candidates (RC) versions so that people like you can help test with their specific scenarios.

   I now installed a clean 10.3.3 build. Selecting "German" installed your language pack automatically. No problems with this build, I successfully upgraded it...

   I will move this to a discussion until we can get some clear steps to reproduce this. If you want to try to pinpoint it better, you could try adding your custom stuff (theme, modules, etc.) one at a time and try to upgrade until you can pinpoint which one prevents the upgrade. Now that I am thinking about it, maybe one of those extensions have a 2 part version instead of 3 part and this is related to the same issue as #7543 which could be Owin or something else in a similar fashion. That issue produces the same fieldCount issue.
