…N-302) A fork of another owner's publicly released agent earns nothing until it beats that base on at least fork_min_shared_seeds (default 3) shared confirmation seeds through the crown gate's paired test. This covers tail slots as well as the crown, and same-owner successors are exempt. The unreleased-copy sentinel records each agent's base in agent_fork_bases: the other-owner released agent with the most shared distinctive content, or a copy-court released-base clear. fork_must_beat_base (off/shadow/enforce) is an audited setting on the emission eligibility policy and ships shadow: forks are published as fork_unproven and rehearsed, and nothing is withheld. Enforce drops unproven forks from the payable pool, which validators already fold as served, so no heartbeat protocol bump is needed. Backroom gains get_fork_gate (who would lose emissions) and set_emission_eligibility_policy. The board shows each fork's duel on the King and the challengers. 🟠 High · bug — Refresh fork classifications when court evidence arrives · 🔎 Verified by trace
If a court recommendation naming a released base is recorded after an agent’s first classification, this query never selects that agent again because its fork-base row already exists, and store_fork_base ignores conflicts. The later recommendation is therefore never passed to court_fork_bases, leaving the fork_must_beat_base gate with a missing or stale classification; refresh classifications when court evidence changes and allow the stored result to be updated.
Why Ditto flagged this (confidence 88%)
The new loop selects only pending_fork_candidates at lines 283–285, then stores the result at line 296; the referenced query and store implementation use a missing-row selection and conflict-do-nothing insert. Once the first classification has written a row, a later court recommendation cannot trigger reevaluation, so the court evidence source at line 289 cannot affect the gate’s stored classification.

In `apps/platform/ditto/api_server/unreleased_copy_sentinel.py` at lines 283–285, change fork classification so an agent is reconsidered when its court-cited released-base evidence changes, rather than only while it has no `agent_fork_bases` row. Update the persistence path in `apps/platform/ditto/db/queries/fork_bases.py` as needed so recomputation can replace or clear a prior result instead of silently ignoring conflicts. Add a regression test that first classifies an agent, then records a qualifying court recommendation, and verifies the stored classification and gate input reflect that recommendation; run the focused fork-base and sentinel tests.

🟠 High · bug — Do not report fork emissions as known when no pin exists · 🔎 Verified by trace
When _active_pin returns None, this loop treats every fork as in the pool but assigns it a zero share, so currently_earning and would_lose_emissions are false regardless of its actual payout status. The endpoint therefore tells operators that no fork will lose emissions precisely when they need this information to assess enforcement; without a pin, these fields must be represented as unknown rather than as a confirmed zero.
Why Ditto flagged this (confidence 85%)
The endpoint gets payable ledger rows at lines 412–414, but when no pin exists lines 440–445 create empty share and membership data; lines 473–475 then report every fork as in-pool with zero share and not earning. This makes the operator-facing would_lose_emissions result at lines 503 and 517–519 assert “none” without evidence about payout status, contrary to the endpoint’s stated pre-enforcement purpose at lines 404–405.

In `apps/platform/ditto/api_server/endpoints/admin_emission_eligibility.py` around lines 473–475, stop treating a missing active pin as proof that forks are in the pool with zero shares. Represent pool membership, share, earning status, and derived loss status as unknown when `pin is None`; update the `AdminForkGateRow` fields in the response model to accept nullable values if needed, and ensure the response-level `would_lose_emissions` list excludes unknown rows. Add a focused endpoint test for a missing pin with a fork row, asserting the response does not claim that the fork is earning or that it definitely will not lose emissions. Run the focused endpoint tests.

🟠 High · bug — Resolve public fork duels with the ledger’s band settings · 🔎 Verified by trace
_fork_duels_for calls resolve_fork_duels without the ceiling-clamp or statistical-cap settings that the scoring path supplies. When either setting changes scores at a fork boundary, the public eligibility record can disagree with the ledger about reward_eligible; build_public_leaderboard then filters emission_rows using that record and can publish a different champion from the fold.
Why Ditto flagged this (confidence 82%)
At lines 2466-2471, the public path calls resolve_fork_duels with only the benchmark version and minimum shared seeds, while the scoring path at scoring.py:1119-1125 supplies the ceiling-clamp and statistical-cap settings. Thus, when either setting affects a comparison near the fork boundary, the public duel can yield a different eligibility result; the public leaderboard uses that result to filter emission rows at lines 4288-4293, so the published champion can diverge from the ledger fold.

In `apps/platform/ditto/api_server/endpoints/public.py`, update `_fork_duels_for` at lines 2466-2471 to accept and pass the same `ceiling_band_clamp` and `statistical_band_cap` values used by the scoring/ledger call to `resolve_fork_duels`. Thread the correct values through the public leaderboard eligibility caller (and any other caller that evaluates the same fork policy), rather than relying on resolver defaults. Add or update a focused test showing public fork eligibility agrees with the ledger when each setting is active, and run that test plus the relevant public/scoring tests.

🟡 Medium · bug — The king's fork line can stay beside its facts · 🔎 Verified by trace
.crown-duel-king is a wrapping flex container, so display: block on its fork item does not make that item start a new row. When the king's facts and fork text fit together, the fork text appears beside them instead of on its own line; give the item a full-width flex basis.

Why Ditto flagged this (confidence 94%)
Lines 1774–1776 make .crown-duel-king a wrapping flex container, while lines 1934–1936 only set display: block on the fork item. That does not force a flex item onto a new row, so when the facts and fork text fit together they can render on the same row, contrary to the stated own-line layout.

In `apps/platform/dashboard/src/styles/pages/leaderboard.css`, replace the `display: block` declaration at line 1935 in `.crown-duel-king .crown-duel-fork` with `flex: 0 0 100%`, preserving the margin. This makes the fork item occupy its own row in the wrapping flex container. Verify the king facts and fork text render on separate lines at a width where they would otherwise fit together.

🟡 Medium · bug — Do not treat every compared base as a court-cited fork base · 🔎 Verified by trace
bases_compared contains comparison candidates, but this loop adds every valid ID whenever the overall recommendation has an eligible basis; it does not require that an individual base was proven public or cited by that basis. The fork detector treats a court-cited base as eligible even when it was not released before the candidate upload (fork_gate.py:114-124), so an unproven comparison candidate can become a stored fork base and affect the gate.
Why Ditto flagged this (confidence 86%)
At fork_bases.py:101-103, every ID in bases_compared is added after only checking the recommendation-wide basis at lines 91-93. The triage evidence records public_before_held_upload separately (copy_court_triage.py:604), while fork_gate.py:114-124 allows a court-cited ID to bypass the ordinary release-time check; consequently, an unproven base that was merely compared can be persisted as a fork base and affect the gate.

Fix `apps/platform/ditto/db/queries/fork_bases.py:101-103` so comparison candidates are not all treated as court-cited fork bases. Trace the evidence written in `apps/platform/ditto/api_server/copy_court_triage.py` and identify which specific base(s) support the clear basis and have proof of public release before the held upload. Record that per-base distinction in the evidence, and have `court_fork_bases` add only those eligible base IDs; do not use the top-level `public_before_held_upload` field as a per-base flag. Add or update focused tests for an unproven compared base and a proven cited base, then run the relevant copy-court and fork-gate tests.

🟡 Medium · bug — Fork-gate duels omit the ledger's fleet-dependent scoring flags · 🔎 Verified by trace
When the fleet activates the ceiling-band clamp or statistical band cap, resolve_fork_duels can compute a different required lead here than it does on the scoring path. That can invert beats_base and make this endpoint report an incorrect would_lose_emissions decision.
Why Ditto flagged this (confidence 86%)
The new endpoint calls resolve_fork_duels at lines 419–424 without the ceiling_band_clamp and statistical_band_cap inputs that the scoring path supplies (scoring.py:1119, 1125). In a fleet regime where either input changes the required lead, the endpoint can therefore produce a different beats_base result, which flows directly into would_lose_emissions at line 503.

🟡 Medium · bug — Resolve fork duels at each ledger row's benchmark version · 🔎 Verified by trace
rows can include entries scored at the desired benchmark version while ledger_context.active_bench_version still identifies the canonical version. Passing that single version to resolve_fork_duels at line 1122 makes desired-version forks compare against confirmation data from the wrong benchmark, so valid forks can be classified as fork_unproven and withheld when enforcement is active; group rows by their own bench_version, resolve each group at that version, and merge the results.
Why Ditto flagged this (confidence 82%)
At lines 1118–1124, the resolver receives every row's agent/miner pair but only ledger_context.active_bench_version; during a rollout, desired-version rows therefore use the canonical version's confirmation data. That can classify an otherwise proven fork as unproven and withhold it under enforcement, so fork duels must be resolved per row benchmark version.

In `apps/platform/ditto/api_server/endpoints/scoring.py`, replace the single-version `resolve_fork_duels` call at line 1122 with version-aware resolution: group the `(agent_id, miner_hotkey)` pairs by each row's `bench_version` (using `ledger_context.active_bench_version` only when a row has no version), call `resolve_fork_duels` once for each group with that version and the existing options, and merge the returned mappings before calling `evaluate_ledger`. Keep the current behavior when fork evaluation is disabled. Add a focused test for a rollout where rows from the canonical and desired versions both include a fork, asserting each resolver call uses its group's version and the results are merged. Run the focused scoring tests.

🟡 Medium · bug — Fork detections disappear when ledger rows lack a benchmark version · 🔎 Verified by trace
When ledger rows have no bench_version, the conditional at lines 418–427 leaves duels empty; for a detected base with a non-null base_agent_id, line 471 then drops the fork from this endpoint’s response. The endpoint documents that it reports every ledger fork, so represent the detection with duel evidence marked unavailable rather than omitting it; reporting zero shared seeds would incorrectly imply a duel was performed.
Why Ditto flagged this (confidence 82%)
At lines 418–427, no ledger bench_version makes duels empty; the loop then skips any detected base with a non-null base_agent_id at line 471, even though bases were fetched independently at line 417 and the endpoint documents reporting every ledger fork at lines 400–405. Thus a detected fork is omitted specifically when its duel cannot be resolved, rather than surfaced as having unavailable duel evidence.

In `apps/platform/ditto/api_server/endpoints/admin_emission_eligibility.py` at line 471, change the fork response construction so a detected base with a non-null `base_agent_id` is still returned when `resolve_fork_duels` has no result, including when all ledger rows lack `bench_version`. Represent unavailable duel evidence explicitly (update the response model and its consumers as needed); do not report fabricated zero-seed duel results or treat an unavailable duel as proof the fork beats its base. Add a focused endpoint test for classified fork bases with null ledger benchmark versions, then run that test and the relevant API-model tests.

The new loop at lines 286–306 processes multiple pending candidates, but an exception in the per-candidate work escapes the loop before later candidates are stored. Since the failed candidate has no stored fork-base result, it remains pending; repeated ticks can therefore hit the same failing batch and prevent its other candidates from being classified. Per-candidate exception handling lets the rest of the batch progress.

Add fork-base detection and an emission gate requiring paired wins — Adds SN-302: agents detected as forks of another owner's released agent must beat that base on shared confirmation seeds before they earn emissions when the gate is enforced. The change stores detected bases, evaluates paired duels during ledger scoring, and exposes the policy and its effects through admin tools and public board displays. Review closely how the detector selects a base and how enforcement interacts with policy rollout and pinned emissions, since this can change payouts.

The same staleness applies to release evidence recorded late: a fork classified "not a fork" before its base'sreleased_atlands stays exempt forever. Classification needs a refresh trigger, not only an insert. - High,
admin_emission_eligibility.py:475: when there is no pin,would_lose_emissionsreads false for every fork. That is the exact input the operator needs before switching toenforce. - High,
public.py:2470:_fork_duels_fordropsceiling_band_clampandstatistical_band_cap, so publicreward_eligiblecan disagree with the ledger. Underenforce,build_public_leaderboardfiltersemission_rowson that record, so the board can project a different champion from the one validators fold. The admin endpoint (line 424) has the same gap. - The Medium findings also still apply:
scoring.py:1122resolves every row at a single bench version.fork_bases.py:103treats everybases_comparedentry as a court-cited base.admin_emission_eligibility.py:471drops forks when ledger rows have no bench version.- In
sentinel:306, one candidate's error aborts the whole batch.
Additional findings
- The dashboard mislabels
fork_unprovenand states the wrong payment status.apps/platform/dashboard/src/components/board/chips.tsx:112-123andcomponents/evidence/AgentEvidence.tsx:223-224are unchanged.- Both show the chip and note whenever
posture_satisfied === false. That now includes every shadow fork, becauseclassifysetsstate = "fork_unproven"andposture_satisfied = False. - They take "enforcing" from
record.enforcement, which is the review ladder, notfork_enforcement. The label then falls through to "Would not earn · review open" or "Not earning · review open". - Result: with review
enforceand forkshadow, a fork that is still being paid is told publicly that it is "Not earning". With reviewshadowand forkenforce, a withheld fork is told it "is still being paid". In both cases the label blames an open review that does not exist. - Fix: switch on
state === "fork_unproven"and usefork_enforcementfor that state.
- The shadow rehearsal records forks under the review posture.
LedgerEligibility.withheld(emission_eligibility.py, unchanged) still filters onposture_satisfied, so shadow forks go into_record_eligibility_rehearsalwithenforcement: record.enforcement(the review value). With reviewenforceand forkshadow, the log atscoring.py:1139says "withheld", becauseenforcingis now review OR fork, for forks that are being paid. Fix: filter onreward_eligiblefor actual withholding, and record the fork ladder for fork rows. - Rewards consequence of
enforcethat needs explicit sign-off (not a code bug). A withheld incumbent stays crowned and unpaid under protocol 28 (scoring.pyaround lines 1200-1240). So an unproven fork that already holds the crown whenenforceis switched on burns the champion share every epoch until it beats its base, and nobody else is paid that share. The same applies to a fork that takes the crown from someone other than its base. A base outside the retest cohort, retired, or with no confirmation seeds at the current bench version yieldsbase=None, which means "unproven" forever (fork_bases.pyresolve_fork_duels,fork_gate.pyfork_duel). The activation note mentions the out-of-cohort case. The bench-version-bump and retired-base cases are worse, because no future seeds will ever arrive. Beforeenforce, decide whether a base with no current-version evidence should exempt the fork, or should schedule the base for retest. - Minor.
agent_fork_bases.base_agent_idusesondelete="SET NULL", and null means "not a fork". Deleting a base row would silently and permanently exempt every fork of it, because the PK row exists and is never reclassified.RESTRICT, or deleting the row so it is reclassified, is safer. - Rebase hazard. Since this branch was cut, #3317 changed
load_contexton main to take a worker-computedoverlap(db/queries/unreleased_copy.py:216)._classify_forksmakes a second in-processload_contextper candidate per tick. After the rebase, reuse the overlap the signal already computed in the same tick, so the sentinel does not repeat the heavy work on the event loop.
What looks right: the separate fork_must_beat_base ladder, withholds switching to reward_eligible, the fleet-gated effective_policy downgrade, the same-owner exemption via canonical owners, and the deterministic base tie-break. Shipping in shadow changes no weights, provided finding 1 is fixed so the board does not misreport payment.
Recommended next step: rebase onto main and re-parent the migration. Fix the three High findings plus findings 1 and 2. Get product sign-off on finding 3 before any enforce, then re-request Ditto Review.
Summary
fork_min_shared_seeds(default 3) shared confirmation seeds, through the crown gate's paired test (koth._dethrone_decision+CrownGate). This applies to tail slots as well as the crown. Same-owner successors are exempt, using the unreleased-copy canonical owners: hotkey, payment coldkey, and attested links.api_server/fork_gate.py, recorded in a newagent_fork_basestable by the unreleased-copy sentinel). The base is the other-owner agent, publicly released before the upload, with the largest shared distinctive content from the feat(platform): flag unreleased-agent copying across languages in shadow mode #3303 index. Common idioms and the owner's own earlier items are removed first, and the pair must reach the calibrated threshold of 40. A copy-court released-base clear also names a base.fork_must_beat_base(off/shadow/enforce) plusfork_min_shared_seedson the audited emission eligibility policy.
