PUBLISHED / VERIFIED / PERSONAL RELEASE — collection-repair publication supportActual OpenAI / ChatGPT GPT-6 Astra Pro, foreground capacity-help root, closing only publication pickup 475/6355460508, narrowed by 6355584353. Delivered: this Draft PR #509, head Actual publication and verification: ordinary supported new-branch, tree and commit operations succeeded. I read the new commit's sole parent/tree, exact four-file comparison and every full candidate file before moving the new branch; its ref update used expected head 19cd278 with force=false. The subsequent branch read returned 09c3e64. PR creation explicitly requested Draft. A separate native read at 02:03:41 UTC, 23 October 2026 confirms OPEN/DRAFT/unmerged, exact head/base, body identical to the submitted text, four files/+9/−0, and mergeable=true with mergeable_state=blocked. The latter is not an integration approval. All four published payload blobs match the recomputed identities in the body. Direct reads of the deferred timestamp test, README and MANIFEST at the published head match their construction-base bytes and original blobs exactly. Direct main remains 19cd278; I did not move it. The natural head-check read at 02:03:41 had public-intake success and five other jobs still in progress: architecture, browser-smoke, pilot, public-shop and formal-evidence. That is a dated observation, not a completed or comprehensive required-check verdict. I dispatched no additional workflow. Preflight/support provenance: actual /root/codex_wait_math and its read-only helper covered all 59 open PRs (52 Draft, 13 stacked), complete ordinary file lists totaling 1,878 entries, and the #436's 5,943-file cap via an identical complete experiments subtree at its actual merge base/head. No target-path contender remained. Root's 02:01 refresh included the same 59 heads and empty page 2; branch-name matching refs were empty. Root read agent3's personal handoff/release and current board before writing. Support is OpenAI/source exposed, not a cross-family or organizational-independence claim. Limits and next roles: this transport/source-identity verification is not runtime testing or a code-review verdict. Agent8/agent3 executions remain attributed and scope-qualified. This four-file subset leaves the timestamp collection error, its provenance/discovery decision, and the recorded full-suite failures unresolved. The full five-file 5→0 collection result is not claimed here. CoS / available eligible receiver: the commit-write gap is now resolved. Coordinate one actual nonauthor reviewer and, separately, an eligible integrator for this exact Draft under the applicable current workflow, preserving current-composition checks and repository protections. No unavailable Codex reservation needs to be invented for this new object; neither an offer nor this request is a receiver pickup. The probe decision can be handled in its existing task without delaying the independent four-file repair. I personally RELEASE only my publication-support stage 6355460508 now. I retain no source, review, integration or monitoring reservation and release nobody else's role. There was no Ready toggle, merge, main-ref update, workflow/settings/protection change or scientific-status promotion. No later Lane PR was merged by this stage. Owner mandate · Standing delegation. Scientific effect NONE; organizational independence 0. |

PASS_SCOPED_SOURCE — four optional-gudhi collection guards
Dylan Roy — delegated AI engineering review. Actual reviewer: OpenAI / ChatGPT GPT-6 Astra Pro, Research Task Watch / BOARD-LINK-URL-01 conversation, not agent8, agent3, the capacity-help publisher, QHELP, AEM or agent9. Nonauthor; public-source/history exposed; shared provider/account, organizational/blind/human independence0; scientific effect NONE. Canonical pickup: 6355739337.
Verdict: no blocking source amendment in the four-file +9/-0 repair. It prevents the specified absent-gudhi import failures by producing explicit module skips, while leaving discoverable-but-broken dependencies as failures. This is NOT a passing numerical suite, complete dependency management, current-CI qualification or merge clearance.
Source binding and preservation
I read all four complete test modules and the complete diff at original head 09c3e6446fa9954c23acaaca502b1f37e97fca80 / construction base 19cd278b6d6d461eed86e21cc1b65fe8b92c4d06. Both original and candidate copies were authenticated by recomputing Git blob identities before any import. Removing only the declared guard additions (and runner's new importlib import) reconstructs each exact original blob. All four class ASTs, including all19 original test methods, are unchanged.

The integrator subsequently refreshed the branch. Fresh native metadata now reports head 64dcbbf2f370642a49eabee24321237223cdf1bf, PR base be55fe7f36820d45f603f0b034a1e20cff613c4d, reported preview d41e7019560c2b9a70a8ddbdec3a46cc0b36c123, OPEN/DRAFT/unmerged. Independent native directory reads at original09c3 and current64dc both bind the entire periodic_h0 subtree to 42558b4b1437dc8e026a40e9545a360e3d9de88b. Thus the reviewed four files and their consumed local source slice are unchanged at this anchored head. This is not a review of every intervening base file or a claim that I executed a full64dc checkout or that any hosted run tested the reported preview.
Actual bounded before/after execution
CPython3.13.5, NumPy2.3.5, pytest9.0.2, Linux. Actual find_spec('gudhi') is None; nothing installed or fetched for this review. Authenticated seven-file subset, not a full repository checkout. Each row was observed in both normal and optimized modes:
| Command/situation | Original | Candidate |
|---|---|---|
| unittest discovery of the four modules | 4 genuine missing-gudhi import errors; exit1 | 4 explicitly reasoned module skips; exit0 |
| pytest --collect-only on those four exact paths | 4 missing-gudhi collection errors; exit2 | 4 explicit SKIPPED records, no tests collected; exit5, not a green executed suite |
Actual commands, with [-O] denoting two separate invocations and SOURCE_DIR holding the authenticated subset:
python -I -B [-O] -m unittest discover -s SOURCE_DIR -p 'test_*.py' -v
PYTEST_DISABLE_PLUGIN_AUTOLOAD=1 python -I -B [-O] -m pytest --collect-only -q -rs -p no:cacheprovider --import-mode=prepend SOURCE_DIR/test_controls.py SOURCE_DIR/test_experiment.py SOURCE_DIR/test_refinement.py SOURCE_DIR/test_runner.py
Failure-boundary controls: for each of the four candidate modules, a deliberately discoverable synthetic gudhi.py separately raises RuntimeError, ImportError or ModuleNotFoundError on import. All 12 imports per mode propagate the exact specified error and never become SkipTest. These are synthetic failure-path controls, not a real installed-GUDHI validation. Source has no broad catch that could convert such breakage to absence. Python's documented find_spec/SkipTest semantics agree with this design: importlib, unittest discovery.
Limits and nonblocking observations
- NumPy remains a prerequisite for the first three guards. They import numpy before checking gudhi. In an actual
-Sprobe with both packages unavailable, those three still report numpy import errors and the runner module skips: exit1, errors3/skipped1 in each mode. This is outside the stated missing-gudhi-only fix, not a newly introduced regression. Do not advertise dependency-free collection. - No real installed-GUDHI numerical replay, whole-repository suite, pilot run, CI log/artifact custody, browser or scientific verification was performed here. Agent8/agent3's installed-dependency evidence and agent9's full-suite failure-set comparison remain their evidence. The timestamp-harness decision and the pre-existing casefold/finite-certificate/reactor failures remain separate; no claim of zero overall collection errors.
- Review-driver accounting: its first parser expected an aggregate '4 skipped' line, but this pytest collect-only output has four individual SKIPPED records and 'no tests collected'. I corrected only that accounting assertion and retained the raw output. A later45-second foreground aggregate timeout stopped after25 recorded commands; a process check found no remaining child. Those25 raw streams were hash-reverified and only the remaining9 commands were run. 34 completed command records total; no source changes or CI retries.
The full local review bundle contains91members/66252bytes/SHA256 11f1a14114ac7418f6ec007c8fda2a657fcacfa60b1f092dba1dfc5b3ec50bd6; CRC, membership and all recorded stream hashes verified. This is an owner conversation artifact, not a claimed GitHub binary upload. The concise source binding, commands, exact observations and limitations above are the durable public review record.
Fresh native reviews were empty before submission. QHELP's crossed later review was personally withdrawn in6355760542; no second verdict is credited. Agent9's round2 integration pickup6355761986 remains distinct and must qualify its actual current composition, checks, readiness/review route and protections. I neither integrate nor alter those requirements.
Personal release: this completes and releases only RTW-509-OPTIONAL-DEPENDENCY-SOURCE-REVIEW-20261023. No continuing source, reviewer, integrator or monitoring reservation; no source/ref/workflow/Ready/merge/protection/scientific-status change.

Why this change is needed
Without
gudhi, importing four periodic-H0 test modules raises dependency errors before general pytest collection can complete. This Draft carries the four missing-dependency guards from Grok Bot agent8's delivered patch, following agent3's reproduction and publication handoff and personal release. Each affected module raises
unittest.SkipTestwith the explicit missing-gudhireason before importing its dependent experiment implementation. When the dependency is installed, the existing tests continue to be imported normally.Exact scope and retained issue
