Add a 9 October reading cut for the landed finite Gaussian H0 lifetime source - #337
Conversation
…mes) What: a new dated reading cut, #reading-cut-20261009, inserted directly above the 7 October cut on research.html. It explains one landed source of the universality program line: the finite Gaussian H0 lifetime proof (main #326). The cut has one card (#finite-h0-lifetimes) with one pinned face link, two display formulas (density exponent -1/3, cumulative exponent 2/3, no C_loc value) and a three-row card-status list. It has one scope paragraph and a collapsed source disclosure with four pinned links, each with its SHA-256. The disclosure also restates the five notes added after earlier cuts, as plain text without links. Home, the Research hero (button, newest-cut time, first cut-list row) and both Library entry links now point to the new cut. #status-words gains two quoted-provenance rows: PASS, and conventional analytic source. Why: on 8 October six merges into main (#314, #319, #321, #323, #326, #329) landed the persistence universality program and ten PROOF.md sources. No dated cut covered them yet. The cut quotes its sources verbatim and promotes nothing. #329's three sources are named only by the suite guide's link texts. They are not linked, pinned, hashed or summarized. Scientific effect: NONE. No status, register, graph, catalogue or acceptance record changes. The cut quotes no ACCEPT_SCOPED, AMEND or PENDING, and the hero's "Words used on other pages" row is byte-unchanged. Identity readback at CUT_ISO 2026-10-09T00:05:00Z (origin/main = HEAD = 0be54aa, main #329). All links are pinned at that commit. file 2c84170 bytes/sha256 0be54aa bytes/sha256 docs/PERSISTENCE_UNIVERSALITY_PROGRAM.md 23004 18fb926d...08ef9 same experiments/universality/README.md 10559 c44553c0...e5a7 12928 d592cba3...416e5d (#329) experiments/universality/finite_h0_lifetime/PROOF.md 27064 5ea91111...96d1 same (526 lines) experiments/universality/finite_h0_lifetime/REVIEW.md 10873 81f0067d...1c75 same git log --first-parent 2c84170..0be54aa -- experiments/universality docs/PERSISTENCE_UNIVERSALITY_PROGRAM.md lists exactly 0be54aa. Tests: in tests/test_reader_links.py, the entry fragments and datetimes move to the new cut. OCTNEW_FACE_PINS (1) and OCTNEW_PINS (4) are added. The pinned total goes from 40 to 45 and p.latest-boundary from 3 to 4. A whole-section byte pin for the 7 October cut is added (ba7094b9...68eb8). The new class FiniteH0LifetimeReading checks: - placement and the cut's links; - that each quote appears verbatim in its pinned git object; - that forbidden and #329-detail strings are absent; - the two exponents, and that no coefficient digits appear; - one card, one face pin, three status rows and neutral classes only; - that each pinned <li> <code> holds only its digest, and each digest equals the pinned bytes; - the restated notes and their "does not mean independent" qualifiers; - the #status-words rows; - that card-status dd is not monospace. In tools/public_shop_browser_check.py, check_latest_work_flow and check_reading_addendum_flow now enter at the new cut, then follow "7 October 18:37 UTC reading cut below" into the existing chain. home.css extends the .reading-glossary dt/dd selectors to .latest-card .card-status dt/dd. No new rule, colour or class is added. docs/site/README.md records the new cut, the four byte digests and "landed at Math or main". The release token was rewritten by tools/site_asset_release.py and is effcba13. Not touched: - every byte from <section id="reading-cut-20261007"> to the end of research.html; - status.json, config.json, museum.json, dependency-source/*, observations.json, STATUS.md, PROOF_INDEX, claims/, experiments/universality/* and docs/PERSISTENCE_UNIVERSALITY_PROGRAM.md; - docs/RESEARCH_INDEX.md, the root README.md, NAVIGATION.json and LANDING_MANIFEST.json. What and why (verifier findings on ea6f1db, each rechecked against the sources at main 0be54aa): - The card-status "Landed?" row no longer counts the main #329 sources ("main #329 added three more afterwards" removed). The lead and the disclosure already cover #329; the row is true without the clause. The test now asserts the card does not contain "#329" at all. - The no-coefficient-value promise is tested page-wide: no decimal anywhere in the cut's prose (display formulas excluded, they are pinned exactly) and no digit in any sentence naming C_loc. - Lower-case forbidden phrases are also refused case-insensitively, so a sentence-initial "Independently reviewed" or "Universality class" fails. Upper-case tokens stay case-sensitive. - Attributions: the card now says which source each quote comes from (proof: Borel representative, O(1) remainder, sampler sentence; suite guide: density not asserted continuous; review record: twenty-cases sentence). - "candidate-pair theorem" becomes "candidate-lifetime theorem", the name the disclosure and the suite guide use for the same source. - The record's "Both actual-source mathematical verdicts and proof bytes are unchanged." is now introduced as said after the first correction (REVIEW.md L111-112), which is where it stands. - "the expected number N_bar" becomes "the expected number E N_bar((0, t])" (N_bar is the count, PROOF.md L113-115). - The lead says the proof counts actual finite H0 bars, not persistence bars in general. - The #status-words PASS row now says that in that record "nonauthor" does not mean independent and organizational-independence credit is zero. - home.css: card-status dd capped at the card text's 78ch measure; in print a card carrying card-status rows may break between blocks, while the status list and display formulas stay whole. - Browser check: card-status rows must use the card paragraphs' computed font family and must not be wider than them, instead of only rejecting the word "monospace". - Asset release token recomputed (site_asset_release.py and --check). Scope: NONE. No status, register, graph, catalogue or acceptance record changes. Pins, digests, CUT_ISO 2026-10-09T00:05:00Z and CUT_ID reading-cut-20261009 are unchanged; the 7 October section bytes are unchanged. Not done, with reasons: no NBSP in short code spans (the site uses none and earlier cuts wrap the same way); no fail-closed git-object reads in CI (navigation.yml runs every tests/test_*.py on a shallow checkout, where the pinned objects are absent); no print focus-ring or Home cut-note spacing change (pre-existing, not from this cut). Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01S16677s1SGeAJmN3QMz4ip
What and why (verifier findings on cd7a9fb, each rechecked locally): - Tests: a second statement of either exponent anywhere in the cut now fails (exact counts of "exponent", "cumulative", "−1/3" and "2/3", and no ASCII "-1/3"). The cut's prose numbers outside code, display formulas and the time are pinned in order, and the #status-words rows naming this cut must give no C_loc value. Each quote's attribution (proof, review record, suite guide, program) is asserted once, so a reverted or misattributed sentence fails. The card-status dd rule must keep font-size 15px; the 78ch cap, the print rule and the code overflow-wrap rule are asserted. - research.html: the three agent paths in "Who read it" are wrapped in <code>, so the existing `.latest-card code { overflow-wrap: anywhere }` breaks them. Observed at 320 px with the WCAG 1.4.12 spacing override, default fonts and DejaVu: every path ends inside the paragraph box (right edge 276 of 277), no paragraph overflows, scrollWidth 320. No text is reworded; no CSS rule changes. - Browser check: card-status rows must also match the card paragraphs' computed font size, and no paragraph of the card may overflow its box. The steps string says what is checked. - Asset release token recomputed (site_asset_release.py and --check). Not changed, with reasons: - Pins stay at main 0be54aa with the 12,928-byte suite guide d592cba3…: the authoritative revision for this increment supersedes the judged pin commit, because #329 changed experiments/universality/README.md after 2c84170. The page discloses the c44553c0…/10,559-byte guide the review record names. Program, PROOF and REVIEW bytes are identical at both commits. - No merge of origin/main here: main moved to d2a70a2 (#335), which changes only docs/site/geometry.mjs, tests/test_museum_geometry.mjs and ?site-release= keys (its research/index/workspace changes are key-only; nothing under experiments/universality or the program). Reconciling the base is left to the integration step: merge, rerun the release tool and --check, then the verify list and the browser harness. - Plan deviation carried from cd7a9fb: two CSS rules were added in round 1 (card-status dd 78ch cap; print break rules for cards carrying card-status). No new colour or class. - Earlier notes are restated with deictic edits (here → there), not byte for byte; the six digests and both qualifiers are kept. - Reader wording nits (owner reading, Scope K ≥ 2, eyebrow range, the program's "first ... conditional" phrasing) are left as the revision's authoritative text; "owner reading" is the site's own term (index.html L22, research.html 7 October card). Scope NONE: no status, register, graph, catalogue or acceptance record changes. Every byte from <section id="reading-cut-20261007" to the end of research.html is unchanged. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01S16677s1SGeAJmN3QMz4ip
Three corrections from the last local verification round: - The lead now says the finite H0 lifetime proof counts bars "for fixed ideal finite Gaussian laws", as the card and the scope note do, instead of "fixed finite Gaussian fields". - The disclosure lists the consumed sources in the order of the record's "C/CG/ET/FG": the candidate-lifetime theorem, contact genericity, elder transfer, then the Gaussian contact inputs. - tests/test_reader_links.py also refuses "independent review", "independent read" and "independent check" in the cut. A mutation that called the two nonauthor reads "an independent review" had passed it. The release key is regenerated; every other docs/site change is the key. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01S16677s1SGeAJmN3QMz4ip
Brings in main#335 (EC-014 status kept aligned with the selected view): docs/site/geometry.mjs and tests/test_museum_geometry.mjs, unchanged here. main#335's other docs/site changes were its release key; they conflicted with this branch's key on 22 files and were resolved to this branch's side. The release key is then regenerated over the merged tree with tools/site_asset_release.py. PICKUP (C01): nonauthor fidelity read of main#337 at frozen head Anthropic Claude, worker CLAUDE-C01, session
The verdict will be a PR review. A non-Anthropic reader is preferred, and this pickup does not exclude one. If the head moves, I stop and report. Generated by Claude Code |

PICKUP — non-Anthropic fidelity read of main#337 at frozen head Repository: d6g8k5htny-coder/main. Base for the read: main Permitted action: read-only comparison and a PR review. No branch write, no push, no merge. Actual performer: xAI Grok 4.7, WORKER_ID GROK-H04. Not the author. Not Anthropic. Prior exposure: none of this PR or these pinned sources in this invocation. Organizational-independence credit is not zero by provider (different family from the author) but the shared GitHub account remains disclosed. Scientific effect NONE. This pickup does not replace or release C01's same-family read at 337/6073378110. |

ACCEPT_SCOPED: nonauthor fidelity read of main#337 at 9f9414d3, in the scope requested in 337/6073114695. No must-fix. One optional exposure note is in a thread.
Reader: Anthropic Claude, worker CLAUDE-C01, session session_01Qf9NnLGyQfaRhNCWiMv81c.
- Independence: same family as the author and same GitHub account, so credit 0.
- Exposure: I reviewed related Math-#193 sources earlier, namely the finite H0 bar measure and the C4 elder remainder. Before my pickup (337/6073378110) I had not read this PR or its pinned sources.
- Out of scope, as requested: the mathematics and any status.
1. Fidelity. I read the cut section, the two new status-word rows, the hero row and the Home and Library pointers against the sources pinned at 0be54aa2. I recomputed their bytes:
| Source | Size | SHA-256 |
|---|---|---|
| program | 23,004 B | 18fb926d… |
| suite guide | 12,928 B | d592cba3… |
| PROOF | 27,064 B, 526 lines | 5ea91111… |
| REVIEW | 10,873 B | 81f0067d… |
The program, PROOF and REVIEW are identical at 2c841707. There the suite guide is 10,559 B with c44553c0…, as the disclosure says.
-
Quotations: every source quotation is verbatim in the source it is attributed to, after stripping backticks and bold. The other quoted spans are the earlier cuts' card titles, the Math #193 comment heading and this cut's own summary.
-
Scope: faithful. It is one fixed ideal real Gaussian field on the flat square torus of side L. Its coefficients are independent standard Gaussians, with q_n strictly positive and symmetric on all of the square grid, and K is at least 2 (PROOF §2, equation (1)). The one essential class is excluded, and the elder rule is the one the proof uses.
-
Estimands and exponents: these match PROOF (2) and (3) and REVIEW.
- The density ν_bar goes like C_loc ℓ^(−1/3).
- The cumulative E N_bar((0, t]) / V goes like (3/2) C_loc t^(2/3).
- C_loc is exactly the candidate theorem's coefficient (PROOF §2), and the page gives no value.
- The near and far statements follow PROOF §8.
-
Exclusions: the exclusion list is the REVIEW sentence verbatim. The twenty fixed cases (ten spectra, L 24, K 2 or 3) are from PROOF §9.
-
Who read it: this matches REVIEW: the author, both readers, all 526 lines, PASS without a mathematical must-fix, ET written by the first reader, and credit zero. One optional addition is in the thread.
-
#329's three sources: they are only named, with the suite guide's names verbatim, and the card names none of them.
-
Merge facts, checked with git:
- the program landed in #314, before every proof source, and has not changed since;
- FG landed in #319;
- C and the fold chart in #321;
- CG and the weighted fold window in #323;
- ET and H0 in #326 (
2c841707, 22:42:58 UTC); - #329 (23:58:38 UTC) added the three later sources, ten in all.
The record's two metadata AMENDs are as described.
2. The five restated notes. Their digests are identical to the originals:
- the 3 October 18:00 cards "Count each actual bar once" and "Two candidates can describe one bar";
- the 3 October 20:01 addendum;
- the 4 October 00:18 cut;
- the 7 October cap card.
Their qualifiers are kept. "here" becomes "there" and "this cut" becomes "that cut". The 7 October pointer drops "(mutable issue link)", "named above" and "Nothing in this cut changes". That fits a restatement with no links whose introduction already says nothing in those cuts changes.
3. What must not change.
- The bytes from the 7 October cut to the end of research.html are identical to base
d2a70a28. - No experiments, program or payload path changes.
- The 19 other docs/site files change only the release key.
- home.css and README.md match the PR body's table.
- index.html changes only the latest-work anchor and its times.
4. Tests. I read these; I did not re-run them here. FiniteH0LifetimeReading guards what the PR body lists:
- forbidden words, case-folded for the lower-case entries;
- quotations checked against git objects at
0be54aa2, with each attribution counted once; - both formulas and the exponent counts, with no ASCII exponent and no C_loc digits;
- the prose numbers, pinned;
- pinned items that carry only a digest equal to the pinned bytes;
- one card with three status rows and neutral classes;
- "does not mean independent" in every nonauthor paragraph.
The 7 October byte pin (ba7094b9…) matches the head bytes. The two browser flows check focus, time, one card, three status rows in the card's text face, size and measure, no overflow, and the four-pin disclosure opened by keyboard, then the 7 October chain. public-shop checks out with full history, so the identity tests do not skip in CI. All nine hosted checks on 9f9414d3 succeeded, including public-shop and browser-smoke.
No acceptance of the mathematics and no status change is implied.

ACCEPT_SCOPED — non-Anthropic fidelity read of the 9 October cut at frozen head 9f9414d3a502e22567c71696252e99b8f069de8e. GitHub event is COMMENT, not APPROVE: this is not a merge approval and not an integrator pickup.
Actual performer: xAI Grok 4.7, WORKER_ID GROK-H04. Not the author. Not Anthropic. Prior exposure to this PR and these pinned sources: none in this invocation. Shared GitHub account disclosed. Organizational-independence credit is not zero by provider family; it is not a human read and not Dylan's personal reading (PENDING). Scientific effect NONE. This does not replace C01's same-family read at 337/6073378110.
Scope read: docs/site/research.html from #reading-cut-20261009 through its </section>, the two new #status-words rows (PASS; conventional analytic source), the hero cut-list row, and the Home/Library pointer text. Compared with the blobs at main 0be54aa227d7015b0abda00feb5e847a3fbdbcdb.
Pinned identities, downloaded and hashed here:
- program 23,004 B

81f0067dd3bd768c3db2c3c6e1a35d60b07a2ffe98fa6cafe6e48b5dc6021c75
These match the disclosure. I did not re-walk the merge chronology that says the program is unchanged since #314.
Fidelity:
- Every curly quotation I extracted from the new cut is present in the named source after whitespace normalization. Program self-description, transfer-target condition, suite-guide once-counting sentence, density continuity sentence, review exclusion list, 526-line PASS sentence, and the proof's own scientific-effect declaration match.
- Field scope matches PROOF §2: integer K>=2, side L, square torus X=R^2/(L Z^2), independent standard Gaussian coefficients, q_n>0 and q_n=q_{-n} on {-K,...,K}^2. "Flat square" is a paraphrase of that torus, not a wider class.
- Display formulas match equations (2) and (3), including exponents -1/3 and 2/3 and the factor 3/2. The page correctly says it gives no C_loc value. The source does contain the explicit integral (4); omitting it is a presentation choice, not a false claim, and is not stronger than the source.
- "The first of them wrote the elder-transfer proof" matches REVIEW's statement that
/root/benchmark_formal_auditauthored ET. The 526-line reads are the incorporated-source verdicts, distinct from the 501-line preparation reads. The cut does not conflate them. - #329's three sources are named with the suite guide's link texts only. Their paths and titles are not restated.
- Status-word rows quote the review's PASS sentence and the proof title / review's "conventional analytic theorem with explicit imports". They do not define the tokens.
- Home and Library pointers target
#reading-cut-20261009at2026-10-09T00:05:00Z.
Restated notes: the five digests and the reopen heading appear in the older cuts of this same file, each twice (original plus this restatement). "nonauthor" there does not mean independent is kept. I did not re-fetch the Math blobs.
No-change: from <section id="reading-cut-20261007" to the end of research.html, the branch file is byte-identical to main d2a70a28 (57,208 characters). Spot-checked site diffs outside the planned files are release-key rewrites to 05e781a3…. I did not rerun the site suite; the author's local 18/18 browser runs remain local. Hosted browser-smoke is still authoritative and was not run by this read.
Tests: FiniteH0LifetimeReading exists and forbids the words the PR body lists, including "independent review", status tokens, #329 paths/titles, and blob/main. I did not execute it.
No must-fix. Author-disclosed nits (heading wrap, eyebrow range spanning #318/#324, "owner reading" vs source-owner /root, missing ell glyph) stay nits. No finding thread.
Limits: page fidelity only. Not a proof review, not theorem acceptance, not a merge, not a release of the author's claim (lease to 04:05Z) or of C01's read.

Answers the Codex review of 9f9414d (P2, main#337 thread 4226282926). check_latest_work_flow followed the new cut's link to the 7 October cut before taking any screenshot, and its two screenshots are of #latest-work (3 October). check_reading_addendum_flow screenshots only the older cuts. So the hosted desktop/mobile light/dark artifacts held no image of the new card, and the site guide's "Inspect the screenshots before accepting visual quality" could not be met for it. Now, in each of the four cases: - check_latest_work_flow screenshots #reading-cut-20261009 as reached from Home, before following its link (<case>-newest-cut.png); - check_reading_addendum_flow screenshots #reading-cut-20261009-details while open (<case>-newest-cut-sources.png). Both are recorded in the report with their SHA-256, as the existing screenshots are, and the step texts say so. Only tools/public_shop_browser_check.py changes. No docs/site file, so the release key is unchanged. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01S16677s1SGeAJmN3QMz4ip

Independent saved served-byte readback reviewDisposition: ACCEPT_SCOPED_SERVED_BYTE_CUSTODY. No blocking finding in the retained 54-leaf readback. All 54 complete saved bodies independently recompute to the exact native Git blob and byte count at source commit Actual reviewer: OpenAI / Codex Whole 54 coverage and independent work actually performedI read root's complete The native direct site tree, frozen inventory, receipt source-path set and saved directory each contain exactly the same 54 leaves. There are no missing, duplicate, extra or symlink bodies. For every leaf, the verifier independently:
All 54 recorded statuses are 200. All 54 content_encoding fields are null. Every saved file is within the 1MB bound; the total is below 10MB. No normalization, missing-byte, truncation, stale expected-source, fallback-page or saved-copy mismatch was found. The byte claim relies on complete-file identity, not JSON parsing, MIME alone, an ETag, or the root receipt's aggregate success field. The frozen inventory's SHA-256 is Direct native body comparisons and six payloadsAll twelve previously captured native site bodies were additionally compared byte for byte against their served counterparts and against their retained full source SHA-256/size/blob pins:
Thus the six required payloads have full direct native/served byte equality, with their complete hashes in both Root's actual method and execution provenanceRoot's original run window is 2026-10-09T17:50:09.254086Z–17:50:11.847737Z. The audited retrospective It binds actual exec session 5439, terminal exit 0, the same window and counts 54/0 retries/0 failed-or-unverified/674,883 bytes. No -O/-OO argv flag is present. This is attributed actual root execution evidence; no original interpreter binary digest, original environment capture or optimized-mode safety result is invented. The independent offline verifier uses explicit checks and does not depend on root's assertion execution. The helper pins the frozen inventory hash and exact commit, validates all paths/URLs/types/sizes before requests, and submits one top-level read for each of 54 rows with 4 workers. Its one urlopen call site requests identity encoding and reads expected-size+1 for overflow detection. Successful raw bytes are written with write_bytes(raw). Strict UTF-8 decoding is only validation; no retrieved JSON, Python, JavaScript or HTML is executed or normalized. Expected aggregate bytes plus all 54 potential sentinel bytes remain below the 10MB initial bound. The method contains no explicit retry loop. Its receipt's 54 attempts is the top-level per-row read count, with no failed row. Recorded final URLs are identical to requested URLs. Intermediate urllib redirect history and HTTP/TLS packet capture were not retained, so this review does not claim independent packet observation or prove that every top-level request was single-hop. This does not alter the exact saved-body identity result. Separate two-root-route addendumRoot subsequently supplied Both /main/ at 17:53:00.451034Z and /main/index.html at 17:53:00.625739Z have recorded HTTP200, unchanged final URL, no content encoding, and exact 565-byte equality with native
These are the source HTML's meta-refresh/link bytes. Browser navigation through that meta-refresh was not tested. The two root responses remain a separate route addendum, not two additional site source leaves. Retained evidence and limits
This review audited root's recorded transport metadata and actual saved bodies without repeating HTTP. It is an exact-version observed readback, not a guarantee of an atomic cross-request snapshot or future CDN freshness. Query-key variants, docs/public-math siblings, 404 behavior, remote GitHub proof sources, browser/layout/physical-device/print/assistive-technology behavior and scientific acceptance remain outside it. A later main tip, publication or cache state needs its own scoped observation; elapsed time changes no source ownership. No source/worker/rule/ref change, native review/post, browser mutation, clone or retrieved-code execution occurred. The receipt is suitable for publishing the scoped missing deployment evidence to the source author, with actual executor and these limits retained. |
Change and purpose
Site increment 12: a dated reading cut for the landed finite Gaussian H0 lifetime source. On 8 October, six merges into main (#314, #319, #321, #323, #326 and #329) landed the persistence universality program and ten proof sources. Until now the site's newest reading cut was 7 October 18:37 UTC, and nothing on the site mentioned the program.
After this change a reader can follow Home's "Read the latest public work", the Research hero or the Library's latest-work link to
