Preserved failure and minimal fix
#287's original run37353261771/job111909150914 failed the correct closed-tree inventory check because I omitted registration of the added files. The failure was reproduced locally in normal/-O; the successor appends two inventory rows instead of weakening a check. A separate metadata diagnostic passes both modes and rejects5 mutations. Earlier27 rational algebra cases and an omitted-k_+^2 negative control check the scalar step only, not the analytic Gaussian floor.
Two guarded update_ref calls failed at argument binding before execution. The corrected commit was therefore published on this separate branch using create_branch; no force-push, original ref mutation or permission bypass. The initial failure and source commits remain in ancestry. Do not separately merge #287's failing head. If this successor integration causes GitHub to recognize #287 as incorporated, report that native state as one integration, not two independent merges.
