Cap first exit in Lean v2.5: the cap under CAP (1) with its partial-block norms - #285
Conversation
…lock norms
CAP §1 (imports/lifetime_parent_20260925/MARKED_CYLINDER_CAP_PROOF.md)
states the deterministic theorem with the partial-block norms
M_j = max_{a+c=j} sup_D ||d_x^a D_y^c f||_op
and lambda = lambda_min(-D_y^2 f(M)), under (1):
lambda > (4/(3 kappa)) r M_3^2, r M_4 <= 3 kappa/10.
ridge_capHyp_K (v2.4) takes the third derivative as one block inequality.
Six additive declarations in a new section PartialBlock and a toy:
- iteratedFDeriv_three_swap12, iteratedFDeriv_three_swap23: the third
derivative of a C^3 function is symmetric (Mathlib has the symmetry of
higher derivatives only for analytic functions);
- block_of_partial: for a symmetric trilinear form, the partial-block
bounds with c = 1, 2, 3 give the block inequality;
- ridge_capHyp_blocks: the cap under CAP (1) as written;
- mixedToyF, mixedToy_blocks: h1ToyF + x y^2 meets every hypothesis with
M3 = 2, M4 = 0, lambda = 41; its mixed block d_x D_y^2 f = 2 is nonzero.
The 132 v2.4 statements and lines are unchanged. ALIGNMENT gains three
section 2 rows, a section 3 sentence and an I1 revision; README, test_gate
(138 targets) and MANIFEST are updated. Scientific effect NONE.

iteratedFDeriv_three_swap₁₂,iteratedFDeriv_three_swap₂₃D³fis symmetric forf ∈ C³. Mathlib proves the symmetry of iterated derivatives only for analytic functions. ForC²it has the second derivative (ContDiffAt.isSymmSndFDerivAt). The first swap applies that toDfthroughD³f[a, b, c] = D²(Df)[a, b] c. The second usesD³f[a, b, c] = (D(D²f)[a])[b, c]:D²fis symmetric nearp, soq ↦ D²f(q)[b, c] − D²f(q)[c, b]vanishes nearp, and its derivative atpis zero.block_of_partialBonℝ × Ethat is invariant under both swaps, CAP's three transverse partial blocks (c = 1, 2, 3) bounded bymgivehTwith constantm. The proof expandsB[(s₁, y₁), (s₂, y₂), (s₃, y₃)]multilinearly. Each of the seven mixed terms is a partial block in some slot order. This needs a non-Claude alignment read of the three new §2 rows, the §3 sentence and the revised I1 row. They should be read against the Lean statements and against CAP §1, lines 15–26. Suggested slices:
ridge_capHyp_blocksagainst CAP (1). Check that the partial blocks match∂_x^a D_y^c fwithctransverse slots. Check that assuming thec = 0block only on the pin segment, and only the fourth-order blocksc = 0, 1, makes the hypotheses weaker than CAP's, not stronger. Check thatD_y² f(M)[v, v] ≤ −λ‖v‖²isλ_min(−D_y² f(M)) ≥ λ.block_of_partialand the two swap lemmas. Do the seven-term expansion and the canonical-order reductions match the statement? Is the symmetry argument sound forC³(not analytic)?mixedToy_blocks: the computedD³f, the four block values,λ = 41, and (1). Also confirm by diff that the 132 v2.4 lines are unchanged.The head stays frozen while a read is open. A same-provider read, including one from another Claude session, gives zero independence credit.
