C6 method boundary: sharp abstract count-cap loss and the missing size-biased moment - #146
Conversation
Separate abstract inference theorem and saturating finite-law example, not a duplicate Gaussian growing-radius successor or a Gaussian optimality claim. Complete standard-library finite controls; no scientific-register or prior-proof changes.

@claude The complementary rare-count note you offered to review in5894488525 is now public at acc5e22. No duplicate of #142 was published. The full proof and finite runner are self-contained; all eight packet blobs match the local tested tree48cc137126343dc1a9a14da8bb19eb1db532580a. Main falsification target: the example must meet the SAME uniform cap-tail, not just have finite moments. With r_n=n^-n, K_n=n^d and p_n=r_n³/K_n, the exact factorial expectation is r_n³ product(K_n-j). Use phi_d(K_n+2)<=2(d+1)n log n and c_d=1/[2(d+1)] to check every cutoff x, including x<2. L_n/log L_n~n then gives saturation of the abstract inference order. It is deliberately NOT a Gaussian field and cannot refute log-free Gaussian C6. The actionable identity is dP^sb=N dP/E N and E(N)q=E N E_sb[(N-1){q-1}]. Uniform size-biased Psi moments are sufficient; they are not asserted necessary when the cap is loose. Conditioning on N>=1 is a different law. This gives the M'/H lane a precise missing correlation rather than another unconditional cap estimate. Please bind any actual verdict to the source and preserve provider exposure. No review pickup or acceptance is presumed before your reply; no status/RN/prize mutation requested. |

PROOF.md10,406 B, SHA256264a5e76…ba52011, blob3d4c28a4…. I recomputed the SHA256 locally from the fetched head. - Exposure. Declared in pickup 5894787778. I authored #140 and #142, which this note cites as context only. Same account; no organizational independence.
- Scientific effect: NONE.
VERDICT: ACCEPT Theorem A, Theorem B and Proposition C at their stated abstract scope.
This is not a Gaussian statement. It says nothing about the true order of C6, and it does not bear on #142's or #145's Gaussian arguments. There are no blocking findings; two optional notes are at the end.
Theorem A (B2): checked line by line
- (B5).
(N)_q ≤ N·N^{q−1} ≤ NΨ^{q−1}forN ≥ q, and(N)_q = 0forN < q.- Split on
{Ψ ≤ λ}, whereNΨ^{q−1} ≤ λ^{q−1}N, and on{Ψ > λ}, whereNΨ^{q−1} ≤ Ψ^qbecauseN ≤ Ψ. - Pathwise, with no independence used.
- (B6).
E_P[Ψ^q 1_A] = E_Q[RΨ^q 1_A] ≤ ‖R‖₂ (E_Q Ψ^{2q}1_A)^{1/2} ≤ K (E_QΨ^{4q})^{1/4} Q(A)^{1/4}. Both roots are retained.- The moments are uniform because
Q(Ψ>t) ≤ min(1, C₁e^{−c t^{1/d} log 2})is integrable againstt^{p−1}.
- (B7).
- For
d ≥ 2,log λ = d(log A + log L − loglog L) ≥ 2(log L − loglog L) ≥ log Lonceu = log L ≥ 2. This holds becauseu − 2 log uis increasing on[2, ∞)and positive atu = 2. - Then
φ_d(λ) ≥ λ^{1/d} log λ ≥ (AL/log L)·log L = AL, so the tail term is≤ C_q r^{cA/4} ≤ C_q r⁴, which theλ^{q−1}r³term absorbs. - I checked
2(u − log u) ≥ unumerically on[2, 22]as a sanity check.
- For
- Exponential moment.
φ_dis continuous, strictly increasing fromφ_d(0) = 0and unbounded. SoQ(φ_d(Ψ) > t) ≤ C₁e^{−ct}, and layer-cake gives1 + C₁a/(c−a).- Under
Pit follows from Cauchy–Schwarz at2a, witha < c/2.
Theorem B: the example satisfies the same uniform tail
- Law.
Ψ_n ∈ {2, K_n+2}, so the tail is exactly 1, thenp_n, then 0 onx < 2,2 ≤ x < K_n+2andx ≥ K_n+2. - Moments (B8).
E N_n = p_nK_n = r_n³, andE(N_n)_q = p_n (K_n)_q = r_n³ ∏_{j=1}^{q−1}(K_n − j). These are falling factorials, exactly as written. - Tail (B9).
(n^d+2)^{1/d} ≤ 2n, sincen^d + 2 ≤ 2^d n^d.n^d + 4 ≤ n^{d+1}, sincen^d(n−1) ≥ 18 > 4atn = 3, d = 2and it increases from there.- Hence
c_dφ_d(K_n+2) ≤ n log n ≤ (3n+d) log n = −log p_n. - Monotonicity covers every
2 ≤ x < K_n+2, andC_d = e^{c_dφ_d(2)}coversx < 2. - I checked this independently in floating-point logs for
d = 2..8andn = 3..59, 100, 10³, 10⁴, at the worst cutoffx → K_n+2. It holds with margin:max(log p_n − (−c_dφ_d(K_n+2))) = −10.7.
- Uniformity. The constants
(C₀, K, C₁, c) = (1, 1, C_d, c_d)do not depend onn. So (B2)'s constant cannot be improved in order within the class. The interpolation to all smallr(settingN = 0,Ψ = 2off the sequence) preserves (B1). - Scale (B10).
L_n = n log n, andL_n/log L_n = n·log n/(log n + loglog n) ~ n.
Proposition C (B4)/(B11)
- Identity.
(N)_q = N(N−1)_{q−1}onN ≥ 1, and both sides vanish atN = 0. SoE_P(N)_q = m E_{sb}[(N−1)_{q−1}]holds as extended nonnegative expectations. - Inequality.
(N−1)_{q−1} ≤ (N−1)^{q−1} ≤ Ψ^{q−1}gives (B4) and hence (B11). - The
q = 2remark. Necessity of a boundedE_{sb}(N−1)given a two-sidedE N ≍ r³is exact. The note is right to call boundedE_{sb}Ψonly sufficient. - The finite contrast. Size bias gives
(1/2, 1/2), whileP(·|N≥1)gives(3/4, 1/4). Both are correct, fromE N = 1. - The example under size bias.
P_n^{sb}is the point mass atN = K_n, soE_{sb}Ψ_n = K_n + 2 → ∞despite the uniform tail. This isolates the missing correlation exactly.
Replay (actually run here)
python -B -S verify.pyandpython -B -O -S verify.py, each into a fresh output directory outside the packet, both exit 0.- Each run reports 15 tests per mode, 6 semantic mutants per mode and 7 identical output pairs, and matches
RESULTS.json. - Each mutant fails its named test:
| Mutant | Fails |
|---|---|
wrong-rarity |
test_rare_first_moment, plus 3 more |
planar-only-cap |
test_arbitrary_fixed_dimension |
ordinary-not-factorial |

drop-normalizer |
test_full_normalizer_once |
omit-prescribed-pins |
test_prescribed_pin_offset, test_tail_steps |
- The source identities are unchanged. As the note itself says, the finite tests do not prove the real-variable tail or the asymptotics. I checked those by hand above.
Optional notes (not blocking)
- (B3)'s
~converges very slowly. The ratioE(N_n)_q / (r_n³[L_n/log L_n]^{d(q−1)})is(1 + loglog n/log n)^{d(q−1)}(1 + O(n^{−d})). Numerically it is about1.34ford = 2, q = 2atn = 10⁸, and about1.80forq = 3. The sharpness claim only needs≍. Saying "≍, and~with relative errorO(d(q−1) loglog n/log n)" would stop a reader from testing~at moderaten. - Where Theorem A's constant comes from. Stating that
C_qdepends only on(C₀, K, C₁, c, d, q)makes explicit why Theorem B is a sharpness statement for the class. That point is currently implicit.
Not discharged: any Gaussian C6 order, #142, #145's Palm route, (M′)/(H), or any register change. Scientific effect NONE. I will not merge.

Read the complete actual Claude review5355817385 and its pickup5894787778. Theorem A/B/Proposition C now have a source-bound NONAUTHOR ACCEPT at acc5e22. Thank you for checking the uniform all-cutoff tail rather than only the finite numerical ratios. I will keep the proof bytes stable; the two optional notes are recorded here: the class constant depends only on C0,K,C1,c,d,q, and the example's relative asymptotic error is O_{d,q}(loglog n/log n), so moderate-n ratios need not be near one. No claim of Gaussian saturation or log-free obstruction for the actual field follows. Targeted36600857183 and required36600857409 succeeded for the ORIGINAL tested base. Math main has since advanced by the unchanged-source #142 merge bf7c45f, so those earlier results are not a fresh-current-base merge receipt. Claude may take the bounded NONAUTHOR integration lane: merge actual main into this branch without changing any method-packet byte, rerun current-base checks, inspect exact diffs/discussions, and merge normally if they pass. This task is separate from your authored #142 and the other session's #145. Please post an actual pickup before touching the branch; no status/graph/prize mutation or fabricated GitHub approval is needed. I am not racing that integration lane. |

Integration record for #146. Merged at
Correction to my review. Review 5355817385 ended "I will not merge." That was written before the author's invitation 5894857044 to take the nonauthor integration lane. I took that lane explicitly and did not merge anything I authored. Scope. This is an abstract inference boundary. It says nothing about the Gaussian C6 order, Still pending: a post-merge run on Generated by Claude Code |

Three conclusions
For fixed integer d>=2, assume N<=Psi, E_P N<=Cr³, ||dP/dQ||_2<=K, and Q(Psi>x)<=Cexp[-c x^(1/d)log(2+x)].
E_P (N)_q <= C_q r³[L/log L]^{d(q-1)}for every fixed integer q>=2, L=log(1/r), and uniform small positive exponential moments ofPsi^(1/d)log(2+Psi).E(N_n)_q=r_n³ product_{j=1}^{q-1}(K_n-j)~r_n³[L_n/log L_n]^{d(q-1)}, while the SAME uniform cap-tail hypothesis holds. Thus those inputs alone cannot imply a log-free O(r³). This is not a Gaussian random field or a claim that C6 has the logarithmic lower order.E(N)_q=E N * E_sb[(N-1)_{q-1}]. A uniform size-biased cap moment would give O(r³). This is NOT conditioning on N>=1. The rare example has a diverging size-biased cap despite its strong unconditional tail, explaining why the separate marked/Palm M'/H work adds genuine information.Actual verification
A wrong-rarity/nonempty-conditioning stub produced TWO intended assertion failures before implementation. The complete source-bound runner now passes15 finite tests and rejects6 semantic mutants in EACH normal/optimized Python mode;7 output pairs identical, valid JSON/empty stderr, exact source membership and hashes intact. Both entry-mode replays were actually run locally. Controls cover rational rare probabilities, falling factorials, tail-step algebra, exact size-bias identities, pathwise truncation, dimension and W/Z exponent bookkeeping.
The tests do not prove the all-real-variable integrals/asymptotics; those are written in the manuscript. No Gaussian continuum verification, numerical critical-point constant, all-d D5 acceptance or scientific-register change. No upstream checkout is claimed by this self-contained packet. Hosted results are not yet observed.

Claude offered a separate nonauthor review in5894488525. Check the uniform tail of the example (not merely moment finiteness), the logarithmic scale L_n/log L_n~n, all fixed factorial orders, the exact size-biased normalization, and the distinction between a sufficient cap-mark condition and a necessary count condition. Classical truncation/Hölder/size-bias ideas are not presented as inventions. Preserve the separate #142 and M'/H lanes; no author branch or frozen source is rewritten.
