CodeQL: trace-probe stops building a regex from its argument; docker workflows get a read-only token - #57
Conversation
…rce with a built regex The opt-out lookup built a regular expression from the command-line probe name, escaping only its first dot (CodeQL js/regex-injection, high). run-browser-probes.js now exports PROBES and starts a run only when invoked directly; trace-probe looks the entry up by file name. All 20 probes resolve as before; a name such as '[a-z_]+_e2e.js' no longer matches another probe's entry.
Both workflows inherited the repository's default write token while using it only to check out (CodeQL actions/missing-workflow-permissions, three alerts); image pushes log in with the Docker Hub secrets. docker.yaml also pasted the dispatch tag input and the version into its shell steps, where a value like $(cmd) would run; they now arrive as environment variables. The version stamp it writes is unchanged.

…e sed sees it The release's last step commits the version bump and pushes it to develop with the checkout token, so contents: read would fail every release after the images publish; it is contents: write again, now declared. Passing VERSION through env kept it out of the shell but not out of the sed program: a tag such as '1/;e cmd;#' ends the substitution and GNU sed's e runs cmd. Get Version now stops the run unless the tag is letters, digits, . _ - only, before any image is built. The commit message takes VERSION from env too.

…version bump The job running the third-party Docker actions held a contents: write token for the sake of its last step. Build now runs at contents: read and outputs the version; bump-version needs build, checks out develop with actions/checkout@v4, stamps ver.cljc with the same sed, and commits and pushes with the only write token in the workflow. Images and the version they carry are unchanged.

…ljc took a compile-time date ver.cljc's date became (build-date) in dde07c0 because this single-quoted sed had written the literal text $(date +%m-%d-%Y) into it. The pattern needs a quoted string, so on integration and develop alike the line changes nothing; the images and develop both get their date at compile time.

…n versions Releases publish images and push a version bump to develop, so they run only in Orcpub/orcpub; on a fork the build job, and bump-version after it, skip. The Node 16 actions GitHub no longer runs move to current majors: checkout v4 (as every other workflow here), login, setup-qemu and setup-buildx v4, build-push v7, whose inputs this workflow uses unchanged. provenance: false keeps the images single-platform, as build-push v3 published them; v4 and later attach a provenance attestation by default. actionlint reports nothing on the file.

…or the notice saveCookie built 'expires=...path=/' with no ';' between them, so the consent cookie took the path of the page it was dismissed on (/pages/dnd/5e from the builder) and the notice came back on every other page. cookie_notice_e2e.js checks the notice shows on a first visit with its policy link, that Got it! removes it and writes a site-wide cookie that outlives the session, that another page and the next visit stay clear, and that the localStorage opt-out hides it. Before the fix: 7/9, failing on the cookie path and another page; after: 9/9.
boot_rescue and builder_card_export were exempt from overlay suppression in the probe runner but not in run.sh, which reads the suite header, so the two runners ran them differently. Neither depends on an overlay: both pass with overlays hidden (17/17, 13/13 under run.sh). Only whats_new_e2e.js and cookie_notice_e2e.js keep them, and both carry the header run.sh reads.

Fixes the four CodeQL alerts on #32, plus one injection CodeQL did not report. No app code changes. This stays open as the branch's working PR; it merges when the owner says the branch is done.
