Done! Added exclude: ^notebooks/ to all relevant pre-commit hooks. Notebooks will now be skipped during pre-commit checks in CI and locally. (commit 75c9305)

Fixed! The pre-commit errors were caused by:

1. Trailing whitespace in release.yml - removed
2. Pytest failing with exit code 5 when no tests exist - now handled gracefully
