Summary

  • Default installer now uses /releases/latest endpoint to install only stable (non-pre-release) versions
  • Added --pre CLI flag to opt into installing pre-release versions (preserves previous behavior)
  • When a newer pre-release exists, a notification is printed: Note: Pre-release v0.5.0-alpha.1 is available. Use --pre to install it.
  • Updated install.sh bootstrap script to parse and forward the --pre flag
  • Closes centy issue Add E2E tests to pre-push hook #4

Changes

  • lib/src/github.rs: Added VersionInfo struct, split version resolution into stable (/releases/latest) and pre-release (/releases) paths, added check_prerelease_notice() for user notifications
  • lib/src/lib.rs: Updated install() signature to accept prerelease: bool, prints pre-release notice to stderr
  • lib/src/main.rs: Parses --pre from CLI args
  • install.sh: Parses --pre flag from arguments and forwards it to the installer binary
  • lib/tests/e2e_install.rs: Updated call sites for new signature

Test plan

  • All 57 unit tests pass
  • Clippy passes with strict linting (deny all, pedantic, nursery)
  • Verify --pre flag installs pre-release version in staging
  • Verify default install picks stable version only
  • Verify notification appears when pre-release is available

… --pre flag

Default behavior now uses /releases/latest to install stable versions only.
The --pre flag opts into pre-release versions, and a notification is shown
when a newer pre-release is available. Closes #4.

After installing/upgrading the binary, the installer now detects if
centy-daemon is running (via PID file or process search), stops it
gracefully with SIGTERM (falling back to SIGKILL), and restarts it.
Adds --no-restart flag to skip this behavior.

Closes #5
