Summary

  • add a documentation-reviewed OpenRig profile in Orchestrators
  • classify it as agent-native because coding agents are persistent named workers and the product owns task assignment, run separation, retained work/evidence, and an independent check gate
  • distinguish it from nearby listings by focusing on local coding-team topology, stable seat identities, queue-backed ownership, proof, and restore state

Qualification rationale

OpenRig crosses the coding-orchestrator boundary rather than merely launching an agent:

  • Task assignment: a lead/owner routes queue-backed work to named specialist seats
  • Run separation: each seat runs in a separate tmux session, with explicit role and address
  • Retained state/evidence: the local control plane persists topology, queue ownership, transcripts, proof, snapshots, and restore outcomes
  • Separate gate: the shipped first-project workflow separates an outcome owner from an independent checker; the listing does not claim autonomous merge or deployment

The closest substitutes were reviewed. AgentGrid is a graphical desktop workspace; Symphony centers on ticket-driven isolated Codex runs; Paperclip adds company-style goals, budgets, and governance; Mission Control is a broader fleet operations surface; OneCLI emphasizes governed sandboxes and credentials. OpenRig's useful distinction is a local, cross-harness coding-team topology with durable seat identities and recoverable work state.

First-party evidence

Reviewed against OpenRig's current product page and stable v0.6.4 sources:

All material release claims are pinned because the website documentation still identifies version 0.5.14.

Verification

  • npx -y node@24 --test — 84/84 passed
  • npx -y node@24 ./scripts/validate-content.mjs — passed for 16 categories, 51 tools, and 1 redirect/retirement
  • git diff --check — passed
  • canonical website, repository, tagged README, getting-started guide, release, and license URLs — HTTP 200 with expected HTML content
  • duplicate sweep across current content and open PR patches for OpenRig, its domain/repository, and close naming/capability terms — no duplicate found

Uncertainties and limits

  • this was a documentation review, not an install or runtime test
  • Pi, Slack, multi-host operation, restore behavior, and cross-seat handoffs were not independently tested
  • the listing records current platform, sandbox, shared-workspace, reboot, and restore limitations from the tagged sources

No merge, deployment, or publication was performed.

Policy assessment
OpenRig passes all five inclusion checks as agent-native in Orchestrators: named Claude Code/Codex workers receive owned queue tasks in separate tmux sessions; durable communication, project/proof and restore state survives runs; the shipped owner/checker workflow reviews the exact candidate separately before human publication. This is a material multi-run lifecycle, not just an agent launcher, and not security isolation or automatic correctness/landing.

Self-authored fix: tools/openrig.md now discloses automatic provider hooks/trust/settings writes, incomplete preview/rollback guarantees, trusted-private-network-only deployment, model costs and Apple-silicon/WSL2 caveats; adds the documented MCP interface; refreshes review provenance and removes evaluative SEO wording. The existing description was preserved. Focused commit b1e43e0: b1e43e0. A complete fresh second review used this exact committed head.

Evidence checked
All five exact evidenceSources URLs validated: https://openrig.dev ; https://github.com/mvschwarz/openrig/blob/v0.6.4/README.md ; https://github.com/mvschwarz/openrig/blob/v0.6.4/docs/reference/getting-started.md ; https://github.com/mvschwarz/openrig/releases/tag/v0.6.4 ; https://github.com/mvschwarz/openrig/blob/v0.6.4/LICENSE . Independent current website/docs, implementation/skills, security, release and npm checks agree on Apache-2.0 source and stable 0.6.4. Website docs remain 0.5.14; release claims stay pinned to 0.6.4. Pi, remote operation and provider runs were not independently exercised.

Checks run
npm run validate:content — passed. npm test — 90/90 passed, Node 24.20.0, isolated final-head merge with main 273dfa6. Current GitHub head and direct-parent/path/author checks passed.

Reviewer-owned SEO metadata

tools/openrig.md
agentSummary — accepted: "OpenRig lets a lead coding agent route work to named Claude Code and Codex seats without a person relaying messages between terminals. Its local control plane retains task ownership, proof, transcripts, and restore state, while the shipped starter separates implementation from an independent check before a person decides whether to publish the change." The tagged starter/queue support routing and independent review.
seoTitle — accepted: "OpenRig Persistent Teams for Claude Code and Codex" The product page and tagged README support persistent teams.
seoDescription — rewritten: "Run named Claude Code and Codex seats as a local team with durable task ownership, independent checks, proof records, and explicit restore outcomes." The release/guide support explicit restore results, not a quality guarantee.
Reviewer commit: b1e43e0, b1e43e0; description preserved.
