Where the information came from. Everything here is assembled from material a member of the public can reach with a browser and no credentials — the company's own website, developer portal and documentation, the specifications it publishes for public use (OpenAPI, AsyncAPI, JSON Schema,
apis.json,llms.txtand similar), its public repositories, and its public status, pricing and changelog pages. Nothing here is obtained by breaching a system, defeating an access control, or using credentials of any kind.The rating is an independent assessment. The Kin Score and Agent Readiness rating are independently calculated scores of a company's public API artifacts, produced by API Evangelist against a published rubric. They are not certifications, endorsements, security assessments, or audits, and they score published artifacts — not the quality, safety, or security of the software.

Full detail: Where this data comes from
Certn is a Canada-based, globally operating background check and identity verification platform. Its RESTful API lets HR, property management, gig, and marketplace platforms order and retrieve criminal record checks, identity verification, credit, employment, education, credential, and reference checks across 200+ countries and territories, then receive results and adjudicated reports. The API authenticates with OAuth 2.0 client credentials (a Client ID and Client Secret exchanged for a Bearer token) and pushes status updates via signed webhooks. API access is free - you pay only for the checks you use.
Note on API versions: The original api.certn.co v1/v2 REST endpoints are documented and confirmed but were deprecated on 2026-04-13 and are scheduled for discontinuation on 2026-08-05 in favor of the newer CertnCentric APIs. The CertnCentric portal (centric-api-docs.certn.co) is a client-rendered SPA whose exact endpoint paths could not be scraped; its resource groupings (cases, checks, reports, packages, webhooks) are modeled honestly here and flagged with x-endpoint-status in the OpenAPI.

Receive server-to-server POST callbacks as screening results become available. Certn signs each payload with a Certn-Signature header (HMAC-SHA256 with a timestamp and v1 signature) and retries on 408/500/502/503/504. Webhook endpoints are registered in the Partner dashboard, not via a public REST endpoint.
