Hi, I'm Ana 👋

Bioinformatics • Artificial Intelligence • Knowledge Graphs • Pathogen Research

I'm a bioinformatics and data science researcher working at the intersection of computational biology, artificial intelligence, and biomedical data integration.

I am currently an Assistant Researcher at the Centre of Biological Engineering (CEB), University of Minho, within the Bioinformatics and Systems Biology (BiSBi) research group.

My research focuses on developing and applying machine learning, generative AI, and knowledge graph approaches to study pathogens, infectious diseases, treatment response, and antimicrobial strategies.

  • 🧬 Working with biological and clinical data integration
  • 🤖 Developing predictive and generative AI approaches for pathogen-related research
  • 🕸️ Building and applying biomedical knowledge graphs
  • 🦠 Interested in pathogen genomics, phage–host interactions, and antimicrobial discovery
  • 🛠️ Developing reproducible tools and pipelines for bioinformatics, sequence analysis, and biomedical data science
  • 🔎 Interested in explainable AI, uncertainty-aware prediction, and reproducible computational research
