Summary

The corpus never named the uncertainty principle, although Main.md §3.4 already proves its structural core: non-commutativity blocks complete passive observation. It also already classifies that obstruction as giving no evidence for the OI core. This PR states the relation between the two notions explicitly, and answers the objection that observational incompleteness is the uncertainty principle.

Changes

  • papers/Main.md §3.4: new paragraph, "The uncertainty relations", after the passive-observation paragraph.
    • The preparation relation (Robertson) and the error–disturbance relations (Ozawa; Busch–Lahti–Werner) are inequalities in the commutator.
    • The passive-observation theorem is their qualitative, finite-dimensional counterpart, known as "no information without disturbance".
    • Like passive incompleteness, the preparation relation holds for every density matrix and pair of Hermitian matrices. So it holds in every finite operational theory, including the theory that is passively incomplete and lacks the core, and it does not discriminate the OI core.
    • OI's incompleteness concerns the hidden sector. Under (C4) it is already present for a single fixed readout, where no choice between measurements arises. The laws of such readouts are exactly the finite stochastic laws (S ⟺ D ⟺ Q_fb), and no uncertainty relation constrains them.
    • The relations bind only where non-commuting observables are operationally available. That availability belongs to the coherent-instrument completion (OI⁺), whose principles the core does not supply. Whether embedded observation selects this structure stays open (route (ii)).
    • New references [58]–[62]: Heisenberg 1927, Robertson 1929, Ozawa 2003, Busch–Lahti–Werner 2013, Busch 2009.
  • papers/Main.md §1.1: one sentence separating the two notions, with a pointer to §3.4.
  • papers/Explainer.md: a matching paragraph after "Passive observation, kept apart".
  • Book:
    • book/appendix-c-objections.md: new C.9.1 Observational incompleteness and the uncertainty principle: substantive or renaming? It covers the objection; what each statement says; where the uncertainty-type obstruction sits in the framework; the sharp form of the objection, with the concession that the framework does not derive the non-commutative structure from embedded observation; Heisenberg's microscope and Bell (cross-referencing C.2); and Spekkens' toy theory as a precedent.
    • The C.1 overview line is updated.
    • Six entries are added to book/bibliography.md.
    • All of this is mirrored verbatim into The-Incompleteness-of-Observation-FULL.md.
  • Built artifacts: Main, Explainer and book .tex/.pdf were rebuilt with sh ./build.sh. Page counts are 88, 68 and 543 (previously 87, 67 and 541). No glyphs were dropped.

Scope

No kernel identifier is newly cited. No existing claim, status label or count changes. The new text only points to results already stated in §3.4: the passive-observation theorems, the OI⁺ characterization, the realization theorem and the selection question.

Verification

These were run locally on the branch and all pass:

  • staleness_check (13 matched)
  • voice_check
  • claims_check
  • duplicate_check
  • mirror_check (0 divergences)
  • citation_check (0 broken, 0 duplicate reference numbers)
  • toolchain_check
  • lean_manuscript_census

A scan of the added lines for the §A.32/§A.33 register patterns (meta-commentary, reader instructions, revision-history voice, all-caps emphasis) found nothing. The Lean and gate jobs run in CI.

The branch is cut from main at a4020574.

… uncertainty relations

State how observational incompleteness relates to the uncertainty
principle, using facts the corpus already proves, and answer the
objection that the two are the same.

- Main §3.4: new paragraph "The uncertainty relations" after the
passive-observation paragraph. The preparation (Robertson) and
error-disturbance relations are inequalities in the commutator; the
passive-observation theorem is their qualitative finite-dimensional
counterpart ("no information without disturbance"); the preparation
relation, like passive incompleteness, holds in every finite operational
theory and does not discriminate the OI core. OI's incompleteness
concerns the hidden sector and is present under (C4) for a single fixed
  readout, whose laws (S <=> D <=> Q_fb) no uncertainty relation
constrains. The relations bind only where non-commuting observables are
operationally available, which belongs to the coherent-instrument
completion (OI+); selection stays open (route (ii)). References
  [58]-[62] added.
- Main §1.1: one sentence separating the two notions, pointing to §3.4.
- Explainer: matching paragraph after "Passive observation, kept apart".
- Book appendix C: new C.9.1 objection and response, C.1 overview line
updated, six bibliography entries; mirrored verbatim into FULL.md.
- Main, Explainer and book .tex/.pdf rebuilt with build.sh (88, 68 and
  543 pages; no dropped glyphs).

No kernel identifier is newly cited, and no claim, status label or count
elsewhere changes. Local checks: staleness, voice, claims, duplicate,
mirror, citation, toolchain and the Lean-manuscript census all pass; the
added-line register scan is clean.

…ass identity

The new "uncertainty relations" paragraph states that fixed-readout laws
are exactly the finite stochastic laws, by S <=> D <=> Q_fb. AGENTS.md
§A.34 asks for kernel witnesses for each direction beside such a
statement, so cite S_imp_D for the realization direction, D_imp_Qfb and
Qfb_imp_S for the converse, and their assembly finite_horizon_equivalence,
all in OIBridge/Equivalence.lean. Main .tex/.pdf rebuilt (88 pages, no
dropped glyphs). Census, staleness, voice, claims, duplicate and citation
checks pass.
