Why and what changed

The op-level SDK gave two hybrid-attention model families the wrong attention type per layer. _parse_hf_config_json in python/aisimulate/src/aisimulate_core/sdk/utils.py builds HybridMoEConfig.attn_layer_pattern. In that field, 1 means global (full) attention and 0 means sliding-window or local attention (sdk/common.py:125).

  • MiMo-V2-Flash: the config field hybrid_layer_pattern uses 1 for a sliding-window layer with the swa_* dimensions, and 0 for a full-attention layer.
    • The model authors' code agrees: modeling_mimo_v2_flash.py lines 408-413 at revision 1afd314a. So does vLLM: mimo_v2.py at v0.31.0, lines 376-404 and 463-464.
    • The SDK passed the pattern unchanged. The packaged config therefore ran with 39 full-attention layers and 9 sliding-window layers instead of 9 and 39, and the two groups had each other's KV head counts.
    • The SDK now stores the complement, after the existing length and value checks.
  • Llama 4: the SDK marked every second layer global.
    • vLLM v0.31.0 reads only no_rope_layers: a layer is global when no_rope_layers[i] == 0. When a config has no no_rope_layers, transformers v4.57.1 derives it so that every no_rope_layer_interval-th layer is global, and the interval defaults to 4. The SDK now uses the same rule.
    • vLLM never reads layer_types, so a layer_types list must agree with that rule. A config whose layer_types disagrees at any layer raises a ValueError.
    • The packaged Scout and Maverick configs set none of these fields. So 12 of their 48 layers are global (layers 3, 7, ..., 47), not 24.
    • Malformed layer_types, no_rope_layers or no_rope_layer_interval values now raise a ValueError.

Only these three of the 95 bundled models change. Memory predictions do not change, because the SDK gives every layer of these models the same KV-cache size (AISIM-2162).

The users of this change are people who read op-level predictions for MiMo-V2-Flash and Llama 4.

Review map

  • Risk level: medium
  • Start with: python/aisimulate/src/aisimulate_core/sdk/utils.py, the MiMo-V2-Flash and Llama 4 branches of _parse_hf_config_json.
  • Public or serialized contract changed: yes.
    • Op-level predictions change for MiMo-V2-Flash, Llama 4 Scout and Llama 4 Maverick.
    • Eight engine-step parity records are re-pinned: the four MiMo-V2-Flash records and the four Llama 4 Scout records. The values of the Scout disaggregated record do not change at the three decimals that it stores. The parity README explains each value.
    • Malformed Llama 4 layer fields raise new ValueError messages. They give the type, the length or the first bad entry. A layer_types list that disagrees with no_rope_layers, or with the interval default, also raises.
  • Compatibility or rollback concern:
    • Maverick now has three layer types: 12 global MoE layers, 12 local MoE layers and 24 local dense layers. Each phase therefore emits 29 operations instead of 20.
    • aisimulate_core mirrors the aic-core package of aiconfigurator (docs/ci/aic-sync.md). This PR changes the mirror in place, as fix: recognize Nemotron Super 3.5 checkpoints #562 did, and changes nothing in aiconfigurator.
    • The committed FPE support-matrix rows of these three models stay stale until the next scheduled run. The matrix is a scheduled audit, not a PR gate (REVIEW.md:46-47).

Evidence

  • Tests (local runs). The branch contains main 7980e95 (merge commit cc48595), so these runs and CI test the merged code:

    • At 39a7f54: pytest -c python/aisimulate/pytest.ini crates/core/parity_tests/perfmodel/test_engine_step_parity.py: 304 passed. The same command on test_compile_engine_parity.py: 85 passed. tests/unit/sdk: 5506 passed. All 95 bundled model configs parse to the same result as at cedc6bf.
    • At f34be52 (cedc6bf and 39a7f54 change only the parity README and the Llama 4 parser): tests/cross_package: 273 passed. tests/unit with tests/golden from python/aisimulate: 13557 passed, 22 skipped.
    • ruff check, ruff format --check and scripts/ci/check_documentation_links.py pass.
  • Fast CI: passed at 39a7f54 (run).

  • Full CI: passed at 39a7f54 (run).

  • CodeRabbit reviewed commit: 39a7f54. It confirmed the Scout refresh and the Llama 4 fix and resolved both threads. It then raised the naive KV-cache estimator, which turns every parser error into its raw-key fallback. That behavior predates this PR, so CodeRabbit withdrew the finding and resolved its thread. AISIM-2211 tracks the follow-up.

  • Codex reviewed commit: 39a7f54, with a local codex exec review of the PR diff against main, 7980e950..39a7f547 (codex-cli 0.163.0, gpt-6-astra). It found one issue, which does not apply: the default auto estimator selection moves past a refused Llama 4 config to the regression estimator. It does the same for every model that the op-level SDK cannot build (crates/core/src/perfmodel/py.rs maps a compile_engine failure to UnsupportedModel). An explicit op_level mode raises the parser's message, and offline prediction stops with it. The earlier reviews of aeb05094..089f8204, 7980e950..f34be525 and 7980e950..cedc6bf2 found no issues. The first review, at 3f7c815, found two Minor issues, which ae1ff03 fixes. It also raised the case where layer_types and no_rope_layers disagree. That case now raises an error (39a7f54), after CodeRabbit raised it again. An over-long no_rope_layers list raises an error.

  • Negative or boundary cases:

    • The packaged MiMo-V2-Flash config has global layers exactly at 0, 5, 11, 17, 23, 29, 35, 41 and 47. Scout and Maverick have them exactly at 3, 7, ..., 47.
    • Llama 4: a nonempty no_rope_layers list wins over the interval. A no_rope_layers value of [] means unset. A layer_types list that disagrees with the resulting pattern raises a ValueError, also through model construction with get_model. Nested and flat configs give the same pattern.
    • Llama 4: a wrong type, a wrong length or a bad entry raises a ValueError. So do a no_rope_layers value of 0, False, {} or "", and a boolean no_rope_layer_interval. MiMo-V2-Flash keeps its existing errors for a wrong length or a value other than 0 and 1.
  • Expected-value derivation: the new section of crates/core/parity_tests/perfmodel/README.md explains each of the 10 changed MiMo-V2-Flash values and the 7 changed Llama 4 Scout values, on the 2026-10 tables (vLLM 0.30.0). In MiMo-V2-Flash, 30 layers move from full attention to the 128-token window. For example, static context time goes from 22.821 to 21.437 ms, which is 30 × −46.123 µs.

  • Before/after output: B200, vLLM 0.24.0, TP 8, MoE EP 8, batch 1, OSL 2, SILICON database, op-level forward model. Before is main at aeb0509. These runs use the vLLM 0.24.0 tables. The parity README gives the same comparison on the vLLM 0.30.0 tables at main 7980e95.

  • Prediction regression gate, local run of the production collector on the three models and one control model, at 3f7c815 on base aeb0509:

    • 0 status changes and 0 regressions. All 2,462 drift rows are on the three models, and the control model does not move.
    • The largest rises are +16.6% for Maverick and +9.9% for Scout, in decode at 32,768 tokens on RTX Pro 6000 with SGLang 0.5.14. The per-layer costs do not change. On that system, the window layers fall back from the flashinfer data to the triton data (AISIM-2160).
    • The largest fall is −72.5% for MiMo-V2-Flash context time at 32,768 tokens.
  • Goldens: main's data: 2026-10 campaign — vLLM 0.30.0 / TRT-LLM 1.3.0rc29 / SGLang 0.5.21 perf tables for 8 systems #517 re-pinned every engine-step record on the 2026-10 tables (vLLM 0.30.0). After the merge, the eight records are re-pinned on the merged code with pin_goldens.py --refresh. Three runs give the same bytes. At main, the live engine gives exactly main's values for all eight records.

    • The four MiMo-V2-Flash records (10 values and 4 provenance entries) failed the 0.01% tolerance of the HYBRID cases. For example, static context goes from 22.821 to 21.437 ms (−6.06%).
    • Three Llama 4 Scout records (static, mixed and aggregated: 7 values and 3 provenance entries) still passed their 1% tolerance, but they moved. Rule 1 of python/aisimulate/.claude/rules/rust-core/parity.md asks a PR to refresh every record that its change affects. The largest move is +0.35%, in static generation (4.597 to 4.613 ms).
    • The values of the Scout disaggregated record do not change at the three decimals that it stores. Only its provenance entry changes.

Modeling or data provenance

This PR adds no data. It applies the existing measured per-layer costs to the corrected layers. The TTFT values at 32,768 tokens extrapolate beyond the collected B200 vLLM 0.24.0 context-attention data, which ends at 16,384 tokens. All TPOT values are inside the data. The MiMo-V2-Flash parity case mimo-v2-flash-b200-vllm-hybrid-attn-xshape does not exercise the attention xshape fallback, as on main. It now reads the vLLM 0.30.0 tables, which have head_dim 192 data for bf16 and fp8 KV, so a re-anchored case must pin the 0.24.0 data (AISIM-2159).

…ference models define them

MiMo-V2-Flash: hybrid_layer_pattern[i] == 1 marks a sliding-window layer
(Hugging Face XiaomiMiMo/MiMo-V2-Flash 1afd314a, vLLM v0.31.0), but the
parser stored the list as attn_layer_pattern, where 1 means global
attention. The packaged config was modeled with 39 full-attention layers
and 9 sliding-window layers instead of 9 and 39. Store the complement,
after the existing length and 0/1 checks of the raw list.

Llama 4: the parser marked every odd layer global. Build the pattern as
transformers v4.57.1 does: an explicit layer_types list wins, then a
nonempty no_rope_layers list (0 marks a NoPE layer with full attention),
then a NoPE layer every no_rope_layer_interval layers (default 4). The
packaged Scout and Maverick configs now have global attention at layers
3, 7, ..., 47. Malformed layer_types, no_rope_layers or
no_rope_layer_interval values raise ValueError.

The MiMo-V2-Flash engine-step parity goldens and the HybridMoE wiring pins
in tests/unit/sdk/models/test_hybrid_minimax_moe_blocks.py encode the old
layer plan; they are refreshed separately with before/after evidence.

Apply the five Minor findings of the Task 1 review of e876c12.

- Llama 4 errors: a no_rope_layers or layer_types value that is not a
  list or tuple now reports its type name, a wrong length reports
  "length N != num_hidden_layers M", and a bad entry reports the first
  offending value and its layer. The messages no longer print the whole
  list.
- Comment: vLLM v0.31.0 derives the same layers from no_rope_layers
  alone and ignores layer_types.
- Tests: pin that a nonempty no_rope_layers list wins over
  no_rope_layer_interval and that [] falls through to the interval;
  state what the MiMo 0/1 test proves; give the HybridMoE builder tests
  the SDK convention and the corrected layer plans (MiMo global_dense
  layer; Llama 4 global every fourth layer, Maverick 12/12/24).

The parser now reads the MiMo-V2-Flash and Llama 4 attention layer types
as their reference models define them. Refresh the tests and goldens that
pinned the old layer plan:

- goldens/engine_step.json: refresh the four
  mimo-v2-flash-b200-vllm-hybrid-attn-xshape records with
  pin_goldens.py --refresh. MiMo-V2-Flash now has 9 full-attention and 39
  sliding-window layers instead of 39 and 9. Only attention changes:
  static context 22.335 -> 20.785 ms, static generation 4.416 -> 4.421 ms.
  The parity README records all ten values and how each one follows from
  the layer counts.
- test_hybrid_minimax_moe_blocks.py: the Scout router scale factors are
  12 global and 36 swa MoE layers (was 24 and 24), and the MiMo-V2-Flash
  dense layer 0 is a global_dense span (was swa_dense).
- test_engine_step_parity.py: replace the stale MiMo-V2-Flash probe note
  with the refreshed golden. The case runs with fp8 KV, which silicon
  covers, so it records no xshape tag. That was already true before the
  layer-type fix.

The Llama 4 Scout parity records stay within their 1% tolerance at ISL
1024 and are not refreshed.

The comment on mimo-v2-flash-b200-vllm-hybrid-attn-xshape stated as fact
that the case runs with bf16 KV, where SILICON raises and HYBRID borrows the
nearest head_size. That is the case's intended purpose. The case sets no KV
mode, so the fp8 checkpoint runs with fp8 KV, which silicon covers, and the
static run records no xshape tag. Say so, and record that re-anchoring the
case on bf16 KV is a follow-up: the static, agg and disagg surfaces do not
pass kvcache_quant_mode.

The docstring of test_mimo_context_sequence_unchanged now describes the
corrected layer plan that the test pins (8 global MoE layers, 39
sliding-window MoE layers and the full-attention dense layer 0). The test
name stays, so the test ids do not change.

…figs

Apply the two valid Minor findings (F3, F4) of the Codex review of
aeb0509..3f7c815.

- no_rope_layers: check the type of the raw value first. None means
  unset; any value that is not a list or tuple raises the existing
  "must be a list" error, so 0, False, {} and "" no longer pass as unset.
  An empty list or tuple still means unset, as in transformers.
- no_rope_layer_interval: reject bool, like the other positive-integer
  checks in the parser. true no longer acts as interval 1.

Tests cover both cases, run the invalid-field cases on nested and flat
configs, and check that None, [] and () still mean unset. No prediction
for a valid config changes; the engine-step parity goldens still pass.

📝 Summary

Risk: Medium

Three areas need human attention:

  1. MiMo-V2-Flash layer mapping: The parser complements the validated hybrid_layer_pattern. Tests assert 9 full-attention and 39 sliding-window layers, including the corresponding KV-head counts and window sizes. Confirm that the source configuration semantics and the downstream layer plan agree.
  2. Llama 4 configuration validation: A nonempty no_rope_layers determines global attention layers; an empty or absent list uses no_rope_layer_interval, defaulting to 4. If layer_types is supplied, it must match that derived pattern. The parser rejects invalid types, lengths, values, and intervals. Confirm that rejecting conflicting configuration fields is the intended contract.
  3. Parity updates: Eight engine-step records were refreshed. MiMo-V2-Flash records moved beyond the stated tolerance; three Scout records moved within tolerance, while the disaggregated values did not change at stored precision. Confirm the refreshed metrics and pins, and account for Maverick’s reported increase from 20 to 29 operations per phase.

Changes and contracts

The parser changes per-layer attention assignment for MiMo-V2-Flash and Llama 4. Unit tests cover packaged attention patterns, nested and flat Llama 4 configs, fallback behavior, conflicting fields, invalid values, and generated operation dimensions. No public API change is reported. The configuration-to-attention mapping and its validation behavior change.

The parity README documents the layer assignments, refreshed metrics, and attention-cost reasoning. Memory predictions are reported unchanged. The parity-test comments clarify the MiMo-V2-Flash KV-mode assumptions. The objectives report that committed FPE support-matrix rows remain stale until the next scheduled run.

Evidence and readiness

The supplied objectives report 304 engine-step parity tests, 85 compile-engine parity tests, 273 cross-package tests, and 13,557 unit and golden tests passed, with 22 skipped. Ruff and documentation-link checks are also reported as passing. These are author-reported results; test execution was not independently verified here. Fast and full CI were pending.

The inspected parser and tests support the described layer mapping and validation rules. The supplied parity documentation supports the reported metric changes and calculation rationale. Current review findings were not supplied, so review severity counts are unavailable. Technical evidence supports the intended behavior, but pending CI means merge readiness is not established. Bot review is not approval.

MiMo-V2-Flash and Llama 4 attention patterns now reflect their model configuration. Builder expectations and engine-step parity records were updated to match. Performance-model documentation records the assignments, metric changes, and refresh command.

Full details: Modeling And Data Evidence

Explanation

The PR provides the required provenance and reproducible before/after evidence. utils.py cites the MiMo reference revision and vLLM revision for the pattern inversion, and the Llama 4 selection logic cites Transformers and vLLM behavior (python/aisimulate/src/aisimulate_core/sdk/utils.py:1029-1034,1054-1064). The parity README gives layer counts, affected records, exact before/after metrics, per-layer cost deltas, rounding behavior, and unchanged-memory reasoning (crates/core/parity_tests/perfmodel/README.md:98-201). The machine-readable golden contains the matching eight record updates and pins all eight records to native engine commit cc48595... (crates/core/parity_tests/perfmodel/goldens/engine_step.json:596-650,2224-2254). The README also provides the exact refresh command and documents reproducibility guards (README.md:90-96,203-213). Unit tests add packaged-model layer-location, layer-count, attention-dimension, and pattern-validation checks, so validation is not binary-only.

Full details: Compatibility Boundaries

Explanation

PASS. The PR changes only the Python model-config normalization, tests, parity goldens, and parity documentation. HybridMoEConfig keeps the existing public fields and normalized tuple contract (python/aisimulate/src/aisimulate_core/sdk/common.py:118-150), and the consumer still validates the same 0/1 patterns (sdk/models/hybrid_moe.py:115-135). No Rust source, PyO3 binding, schema, manifest, or version file changes are present. The existing maturin configuration still packages both aisimulate and aisimulate_core into the wheel and uses crates/core as its manifest (python/aisimulate/pyproject.toml:105-123); the crate remains aisimulate-core version 0.13.0 with the same library types (crates/core/Cargo.toml:4-17). The parser changes are documented and covered by refreshed goldens. The changed code adds no Dynamo import or dependency. The repository still documents exactly one aisimulate wheel and one aisimulate-core crate, with Dynamo integration optional (README.md:423-439). The downstream Dynamo contract remains the canonical aisimulate_core.sdk interface, as documented at linked repository commit 91a64d9e14526666c94418e9d7d3917f1a3e6765:.ai/ais-perf-model-guidelines.md:8-12.

Full details: Review Evidence

Explanation

The description names the local parity commands and results: 304 engine-step tests and 85 compile-engine tests. It identifies the refreshed parity records and reports before/after values. It also states the negative validation for malformed Llama 4 fields and the resulting ValueError messages. The changed tests cover invalid types, lengths, values, intervals, and conflicting layer_types in both nested and flat configs (python/aisimulate/tests/unit/sdk/test_utils.py:858-940). The description separates local test results from parity evidence, and it does not claim fake-runner or production evidence. No inactive nested workflow is cited as hosted CI evidence; the pull request changes no workflow files.

Full details: Description check

Explanation

The description is complete and follows the required template. It explains the behavior change, affected consumers, review risks, public and serialized contract changes, compatibility concerns, test and CI evidence, boundary cases, numerical derivations, golden updates, provenance, and tracking references.

Full details: Cross-Layer Contract

Explanation

The cross-layer contract remains broken. The PR changes AISimulate to complement MiMo hybrid_layer_pattern and derive Llama 4 patterns from no_rope_layers and interval precedence (python/aisimulate/src/aisimulate_core/sdk/utils.py:1021-1108), with corresponding AISimulate tests. The PR diff contains no AIConfigurator changes. The synchronized AIConfigurator consumer is still stale at commit 6cd6f9686ab7de6e8fb28171d6e350ee0aa4ed39: its parser passes the MiMo pattern unchanged and still uses alternating Llama 4 layers (aic-core/src/aiconfigurator_core/sdk/utils.py:618-660), and its unit test expects the old MiMo pattern (tests/unit/sdk/test_utils.py:430-484). Its CLI/API path calls get_model_config_from_model_path (src/aiconfigurator/cli/api.py:82-85), so the same model input produces different layer plans across the mirrored SDK and CLI. The sync map identifies aic-core/src/aiconfigurator_core/ and its tests as corresponding consumers (docs/ci/aic-sync.md:12-23).

ai-dynamo/aiconfigurator

  • The shared convention is 0 = sliding-window/local and 1 = global/full attention. [::ai-dynamo/aiconfigurator::aic-core/src/aiconfigurator_core/sdk/common.py:118-142]
  • MiMo’s parser currently copies hybrid_layer_pattern directly into attn_layer_pattern; its tests assert identity. The PR’s inversion therefore changes the interpretation relative to this compatibility reference. [::ai-dynamo/aiconfigurator::aic-core/src/aiconfigurator_core/sdk/utils.py:618-634] [::ai-dynamo/aiconfigurator::tests/unit/sdk/test_utils.py:428-461]
  • The bundled MiMo config uses 0, 1, 1, ..., so migrating the shared interpretation requires updating this parser/config or explicitly preserving a conversion boundary. [::ai-dynamo/aiconfigurator::aic-core/src/aiconfigurator_core/model_configs/XiaomiMiMo--MiMo-V2-Flash_config.json:25-28]
  • Llama 4 parsing still hardcodes alternating attention (i % 2), and tests expect that pattern. This diverges from the PR’s layer_types → no_rope_layers → interval precedence, including the default every-fourth global-layer schedule. [::ai-dynamo/aiconfigurator::aic-core/src/aiconfigurator_core/sdk/utils.py:649-660] [::ai-dynamo/aiconfigurator::tests/unit/sdk/test_utils.py:357-389]

ai-dynamo/dynamo

  • Dynamo’s Llama 4 sample config has no_rope_layers: []; its inspected model-card test only validates config loading and the BOS token, not attention-layer assignment. [::ai-dynamo/dynamo::lib/llm/tests/data/sample-models/Llama-4-Scout-17B-16E-Instruct/config.json:25-34] [::ai-dynamo/dynamo::lib/llm/src/model_card.rs:2773-2780]

Arsene12358 and others added 4 commits October 29, 2026 11:30
The layer-type fix moves 12 of the 24 odd Llama 4 layers from global to
chunked attention. The four Scout records still pass their 1% tolerance,
but Rule 1 of rust-core/parity.md asks a PR to refresh every record that
its change affects. All four surfaces moved between the live engine at
the base and at the branch head, so refresh all four with
pin_goldens.py --refresh:

- llama4-scout-b200-vllm-isl1024-osl2::static
- llama4-scout-b200-vllm-isl1024-osl2::mixed
- llama4-scout-b200-vllm-isl1024-osl2::agg
- llama4-scout-b200-vllm-isl1024-osl2::disagg

Largest moves, live at base to after: disagg_tpot 7.233 -> 7.217 ms
(-0.22%), static_gen 4.619 -> 4.615 ms (-0.09%), mixed_step
22.061 -> 22.059 ms (-0.01%). The diff touches 10 leaves and the 4
post_freeze_pins entries. The parity README gets a table with the
recorded, live-at-base and after values, and the Scout keys in its
refresh command.

The old records already differed from the live engine at the base, by up
to +0.19% in mixed_step. That gap predates this PR. The static and disagg
records were last pinned in PR #244. The mixed and agg records still hold
the values from the PR #73 sync. The gap stayed inside the 1% tolerance,
so no PR refreshed them. Their old pin commits are not in this
repository's history.

The merge takes main's engine_step.json, which #517 re-pinned on the
2026-10 perf tables. The next commit re-pins the MiMo-V2-Flash and
Llama 4 Scout records on the merged code.

…10 tables

On the merged code, the four MiMo-V2-Flash records failed the 0.01%
HYBRID tolerance, for example static context 22.821 -> 21.437 ms
(-6.06%). The Llama 4 Scout static, mixed and aggregated records moved
inside their 1% tolerance, and the disaggregated Scout record kept its
values at three decimals. The largest Scout move is static generation,
4.597 -> 4.613 ms (+0.35%). The parity README section and the MiMo case
comment now give the numbers on the vLLM 0.30.0 tables.

The disaggregated pipeline rounds the prefill TTFT to three decimals
before it applies the 1.8 factor. The MiMo bullet now states this, and
the Scout bullet gives the exact reason why its disaggregated TTFT keeps
its value.

Multi-repo context ai-dynamo/aiconfigurator, ai-dynamo/dynamo

Linked repositories findings

ai-dynamo/aiconfigurator

  • The frozen parser still interprets MiMo’s raw hybrid_layer_pattern directly, with 0 = SWA/local and 1 = global; its checked-in 48-layer config contains 9 zeros and 39 ones. This is opposite the PR’s corrected inversion and is a cross-repository semantic mismatch to account for. [::ai-dynamo/aiconfigurator::aic-core/src/aiconfigurator_core/sdk/utils.py:618-647] [::ai-dynamo/aiconfigurator::aic-core/src/aiconfigurator_core/sdk/common.py:112-123] [::ai-dynamo/aiconfigurator::aic-core/src/aiconfigurator_core/model_configs/XiaomiMiMo--MiMo-V2-Flash_config.json:25-31]
  • Llama 4 normalization in aiconfigurator still hardcodes alternating local/global layers, while its 48-layer config only provides interleave_moe_layer_step; it does not encode the PR’s every-fourth-layer fallback. [::ai-dynamo/aiconfigurator::aic-core/src/aiconfigurator_core/sdk/utils.py:649-669] [::ai-dynamo/aiconfigurator::aic-core/src/aiconfigurator_core/model_configs/meta-llama--Llama-4-Scout-17B-16E-Instruct_config.json:6-20]
  • Hybrid operation counts are derived directly from the normalized attention pattern, so this semantic difference affects generated op predictions, not only metadata. [::ai-dynamo/aiconfigurator::aic-core/src/aiconfigurator_core/sdk/models/hybrid_moe.py:134-146]

ai-dynamo/dynamo

  • The only downstream match is a Llama 4 Scout test fixture: it has 48 layers and text_config.no_rope_layers: [], with no layer_types or no_rope_layer_interval fields in the shown text config. No Dynamo implementation code references the changed parser fields. [::ai-dynamo/dynamo::lib/llm/tests/data/sample-models/Llama-4-Scout-17B-16E-Instruct/config.json:29-35]

…layers

vLLM v0.31.0 builds the Llama 4 decoder from no_rope_layers alone and
never reads layer_types, while transformers keeps an explicit
layer_types even when it disagrees with no_rope_layers or with the
default that no_rope_layer_interval gives. The SDK let layer_types
decide alone, so such a config gave attention predictions for the wrong
layers; the global layers now come from the effective no_rope_layers,
and a layer_types that disagrees raises a ValueError that names the
first such layer. The packaged Scout and Maverick configs set none of
these fields, so their results and the goldens do not change.

ai-dynamo/aiconfigurator

  • The frozen MiMo unit test asserts the raw hybrid_layer_pattern is used directly, so it will retain the pre-PR semantic interpretation. [::ai-dynamo/aiconfigurator::tests/unit/sdk/test_utils.py:429-466]
  • Its checked-in MiMo config contains 9 zero entries and 39 one entries, while the frozen hybrid test still documents a 24 global_moe / 23 swa_moe / 1 swa_dense split. [::ai-dynamo/aiconfigurator::aic-core/src/aiconfigurator_core/model_configs/XiaomiMiMo--MiMo-V2-Flash_config.json:25-31] [::ai-dynamo/aiconfigurator::tests/unit/sdk/models/test_hybrid_minimax_moe_blocks.py:40-42]
  • Frozen collector cases explicitly cover Scout, Maverick, and MiMo, so regenerated compatibility/parity data may need coordinated updates even though aiconfigurator is not a runtime dependency. [::ai-dynamo/aiconfigurator::collector/cases/models/Llama4ForConditionalGeneration_cases.yaml:6-10] [::ai-dynamo/aiconfigurator::collector/cases/models/MiMoV2FlashForCausalLM_cases.yaml:6-8]

ai-dynamo/dynamo

  • Dynamo’s Scout fixture has 48 layers and no_rope_layers: []; the model-card test only parses the file and checks the BOS token, so no direct Dynamo attention-pattern consumer was found. [::ai-dynamo/dynamo::lib/llm/tests/data/sample-models/Llama-4-Scout-17B-16E-Instruct/config.json:29-35] [::ai-dynamo/dynamo::lib/llm/src/model_card.rs:2787-2793]
  • Llama 4 references in Dynamo are deployment defaults/documentation rather than consumers of the changed SDK parsing behavior. [::ai-dynamo/dynamo::examples/backends/trtllm/launch/epd_disagg.sh:13-18] [::ai-dynamo/dynamo::examples/backends/vllm/launch/agg_multimodal.sh:99-103]
