… file, Ray NPU visibility, pin waiver) Found on a ModelArts notebook (1x910B4, CANN 8.5.1, verl fork acad9875): - npu-smi board query used ID 0; the container only sees physical ID 4. - CANN 8.x keeps its version in <arch>-linux/ascend_toolkit_install.info. - Ray hides NPUs from CPU-only actors; verl then refuses vLLM-Ascend in YetoTaskRunner. Set RAY_EXPERIMENTAL_NOSET_ASCEND_RT_VISIBLE_DEVICES=1 on Ascend nodes only. - YETO_VERL_ALLOW_UNPINNED=1 (bring-up only) records pin mismatches as problems_waived instead of exit 2. Found while running yeto's verl island on a Huawei ModelArts notebook (1x910B4, CANN 8.5.1, verl fork acad9875, vllm-ascend 0.16). Do not merge without review.
catalog._first_npu_id(): npu-smi board query used ID 0; the container only sees physical ID 4.<arch>-linux/ascend_toolkit_install.info.verl_main: on Ascend nodes setRAY_EXPERIMENTAL_NOSET_ASCEND_RT_VISIBLE_DEVICES=1; otherwise the CPU-only YetoTaskRunner sees no NPU and verl refuses vLLM-Ascend. Verified on the card through the env var; the code path itself has not run on a card yet.YETO_VERL_ALLOW_UNPINNED=1(bring-up only): pin mismatches recorded asproblems_waivedinstead of exit 2.On-card result with these workarounds: 20 rounds Qwen3-0.6B LoRA gsm8k, exit 0, 21/21 publication checks VERIFIED, abs_diff 0.008-0.013, k3 0.0003-0.0006, tis_clipfrac 0.
