feat(settings): user-facing prompt-cache TTL for Anthropic profiles (C6) - #2271
User-facing prompt-cache TTL setting (PR-C6, settings/UI): a "Prompt cache lifetime" control on the Anthropic provider profile (5 minutes default / 1 hour opt-in), completing the ADR-0006 phase chain (C5b knob emission -> C6 setting/UI).
Why
ADR-0006 Decision item 3. The emitter-side capability gate (shipped in #2264) is the ONLY gate (I2): the stored value is written verbatim; resolveCacheTtl re-checks promptCacheTtlSupport at request build and fails closed — a hand-edited 1h on a non-capable model never reaches the wire (byte-identical payload, no ttl key).
Implementation notes
Full persisted round trip per the repo's settings checklist: schema+default (packages/types/src/provider-settings/common.ts:40), ExtensionState via apiConfiguration, cachedState-bound control (SettingsView race rule), generic upsertApiConfiguration handler, getState/getStateToPostToWebview, import/export round-trip test (falsified by schema removal).
Capability-gated rendering: control only for models advertising promptCacheTtlSupport (3 hide-case tests).
i18n: 4 keys x 18 locales, programmatically verified.
Visual: gallery story anthropic-settings with programmatic geometry/contrast/overflow assertions (repo precedent LayoutContracts.visual.tsx); no pixel baseline committed because the CI container is Linux and host-rendered PNGs mismatch (existing baseline fails on this host) — regenerate via test:visual:docker:update if maintainers want one.
A storage-side TTL clamp proposed during development was deliberately DISCARDED as an I2 violation (second source of truth at the wrong layer); emitter-side coverage already pins the fail-closed behavior.
What: the OpenAI-native handler now sends a task-scoped `prompt_cache_key`
in the Responses request body on both body builders (streaming and
completePrompt), and no longer sends the `session_id` request header.
The key is `metadata.taskId`, falling back to the handler session id,
clamped to OpenAI's 64-character limit, and omitted for models whose
catalog entry has `supportsPromptCache: false`.
Why: OpenAI keys prompt-cache routing off the body `prompt_cache_key`
field. The `session_id` header we were sending is not part of the
prompt-caching API and is ignored on the public Responses API, so every
OpenAI-native task was leaving cache hit-rate on the table. The header
also carries an underscore in its name, which hardened gateways
(Envoy/nginx `underscores_in_headers`) reject outright, so it was a
latent 400 for anyone behind such a proxy with a custom base URL.
`prompt_cache_retention: "24h"` is untouched: it is the supported
lifetime control on the pre-5.6 models that set it in the catalog, and
the existing retention specs pass unmodified.
Impact: cache affinity now follows the documented body field, stable
across turns of one task and distinct across tasks. No usage
accounting, cost, or other request field changes. openai-codex.ts and
xai.ts are untouched: codex already sends a body key, and xai never had
the header.
…e rate
What:
- Add `cacheWritesPrice1h` / `cacheWritesPrice12h` to the ModelInfo schema plus
`deriveCacheWritesPrice1h` / `deriveCacheWritesPrice12h`, so the vendor
multiplier relationship is stated once in model.ts.
- Bill three write classes in `calculateApiCostInternal`: the 5m remainder is
derived as total - 1h - 12h (clamped at 0), so the classes always sum to the
aggregate and no token is billed twice or dropped.
- Scale the TTL rates with `cacheWritesPriceMultiplier` in long-context pricing.
- Carry `cacheWrite1hTokens` / `cacheWrite12hTokens` on `ApiStreamUsageChunk` and
read them from Anthropic `usage.cache_creation.ephemeral_1h_input_tokens`
(anthropic, minimax, anthropic-vertex) and OpenAI Responses
`input_tokens_details.cache_write_tokens_details.ttl_12h_tokens`
(openai-native `normalizeUsage` only).
- Thread the split through the Task usage accumulator, including the cancel-path
cost recomputation that runs when a provider yields no totalCost.
- Populate the rates: 22 Anthropic entries, 19 Bedrock Anthropic-family entries,
7 OpenAI GPT-5.6/6-class entries.
Why:
Anthropic bills a 1h cache write at 2x input versus 1.25x for 5m, and OpenAI bills
a 12h write at 2.5x versus 1.25x for 30m. The repo read only the aggregate
`cache_creation_input_tokens` and priced every write at the short rate, so a 1h
write under-reported by 37.5% and a 12h write by 50%. The vendors already report
the per-TTL split; it was being discarded.
Impact:
Reporting only. No request shape changes: the repo emits no `ttl` field, so live
traffic still reports 0/absent long-lived writes and pricing is byte-identical to
before (asserted against the historical cost literals). When the TTL knob lands,
a 1h write can no longer be billed at the 5m rate. 18 new tests fail on the base
blob; the new cost code has no surviving mutants.
…blocks
What:
- Pass `cacheWrite1h`/`cacheWrite12h` to the cost call inside `captureUsageData`.
The bag already carried them and fed the shared accumulator vars, but the
telemetry recompute passed only the aggregate write count, so a cancelled
request's telemetry billed every write at the short-TTL rate.
- Add `cacheWritesPrice1h`/`cacheWritesPrice12h` to the `tiers` schema and to the
four Anthropic and four Bedrock 1M-context tier blocks, derived from each
tier's own input price.
- Carry the tier's TTL rates through all three tier-merge seams (anthropic,
anthropic-vertex, bedrock) and derive them from the tier input price in the
OpenAI service-tier seam, so a flex/priority or 1M-context write is not billed
at the base tier's TTL rate.
Why:
Two under-reports survived the first pass. `captureUsageData` recomputes cost for
telemetry when a provider yields no final cost chunk (the cancelled-stream path),
and it dropped the split: 100k 1h tokens at claude-3-5-sonnet billed 0.375
instead of 0.6. Separately, the 1M-context tier merge overrode `inputPrice` but
not the TTL rate, so the entry-level rate derived from the 200K input price
survived: a 1M-context 1h write billed 6.0 instead of the tier's 12.0, a 50%
under-report.
Impact:
Both paths now bill at the correct TTL rate. Three new tests fail on the
pre-fix code (0.375 vs 0.6, and 6 vs 12); a fourth asserts the tier rate reaches
the cost function. No request shape changes.
What:
- Rename "bills a mixed 5m/1h split per class (0.465 case)" to
"(60/40 split, 0.51)".
Why:
The label cited a figure the test does not assert. A 60/40 split of 100k writes
at 3.75/6.0 costs 0.15 + 0.36 = 0.51, not 0.465. The assertion was already
correct; only the name was misleading, and a reviewer reading the label would
have expected a different number.
Impact:
Test name only, no behaviour change.
What:
- Add a per-tier case asserting the 12h write rate follows the tier's own input
price (default 25.0, flex 12.5, priority 50.0 for gpt-6-astra).
Why:
The service-tier seam was changed to derive the TTL rates from the tier input
price, but nothing pinned that behaviour. Without a test, a future edit could
revert to the standard-tier 12h rate and a flex/priority 12h write would be
mis-billed by 2x in either direction.
Impact:
Test only. Fails without the tier derivation (flex bills 2.5 instead of 1.25,
priority 2.5 instead of 5.0).
What: add a `promptCacheTtl` provider-settings knob ("5m" | "1h"), a
`ModelInfo.promptCacheTtlSupport` capability array, and a shared
`resolveCacheTtl`/`cacheControl` helper that the anthropic, vertex and
vercel-ai-gateway caching transforms plus the anthropic, anthropic-vertex,
openrouter, vercel-ai-gateway and zoo-gateway providers thread through.
Why: ADR-0006 phase 2. C5a (Zoo-Code-Org#2260) landed per-TTL write accounting, so a 1h
cache write is billed at 2x instead of the 5m rate. This is the matching
request-side mechanism: once the settings UI ships in C6, a user selecting 1h
causes Anthropic-shaped providers to emit `cache_control: { ttl: "1h" }`.
Impact: no behavior change by default. An unset knob resolves to `undefined`
and the marker stays the byte-identical `{ type: "ephemeral" }` literal, so no
`ttl` key is emitted unless the user opts in AND the resolved ModelInfo
advertises the capability. Absent capability means 5m only (I2), capability is
read from ModelInfo rather than id substrings, and every marker in a request
shares one resolved TTL (I4). Dynamic catalogs (OpenRouter, the gateways) carry
no capability data and therefore stay at 5m, as the ADR requires.
What: adds the 1h cache TTL selector to the Anthropic provider panel, gated
on the model's catalog capability, plus the four locale keys in all 18
locales.
Why: ADR-0006 decision item 3 ships the knob last, after the accounting
(C5a) and the mechanism (C5b) so no request can emit a 1h write that is
not priced. The control is the user-facing half; it renders only where
promptCacheTtlSupport advertises 1h (invariant I2), and selecting the
default writes DEFAULT_PROMPT_CACHE_TTL (undefined) rather than a literal
"5m" so an unset knob keeps emitting no ttl key (invariant I3).
Impact: Anthropic profiles gain an opt-in control; default behavior and
wire bytes are unchanged for every profile that leaves it alone.
Test: webview-ui Anthropic.spec.tsx 8/8.
What: adds the round-trip coverage the Persisted Setting Checklist asks for:
extension-side survival through getStateToPostToWebview (set and unset),
import/export schema preservation of both "1h" and "5m", and the
SettingsView cachedState buffer (restore, buffer-until-Save, and the
absence-vs-explicit-5m distinction).
Why: the knob rides apiConfiguration, so a missing schema field or a
missing state-post field would silently revert the control without any
type error. The import/export case is falsified by removing the schema
entry (test goes red), so it guards the field rather than the fixture.
Impact: test-only; no production behavior change.
Test: src 504/504 across the six affected suites, webview-ui 2235/2235.
… specs
What:
- openai-native: hash over-long task ids with sha256 hex instead of slicing to
64 chars. A slice drops the distinguishing tail, so two ids sharing a 64-char
prefix collapsed into one routing bucket. sha256 hex is exactly 64 chars, so
the result still fits OpenAI's cap.
- openai-native: clamp the 12h write subset at zero as well as at the write
total. A negative `ttl_12h_tokens` from a misbehaving gateway used to reach
the Task accumulator and the webview as a negative count.
- cost: cap the 1h and 12h write subsets at the remaining aggregate write total.
A malformed split (1h + 12h > total) billed the excess; 150k reported 1h
writes against a 100k total cost 0.9 instead of 0.6.
- Task.spec: replace the fixed 50ms sleep with `vi.waitFor` on the captured
telemetry call. The drain is fire-and-forget and touches the filesystem, so a
fixed sleep races it on a loaded worker.
- vercel-ai-gateway.spec: assert the TTL argument of the `addCacheBreakpoints`
mock call. The transform is file-mocked, so `JSON.stringify(mockCreate)` can
never contain `cache_control` and the old assertion could not fail.
- ttl.spec: compare raw `JSON.stringify` output against literal expected strings
in the byte-identical test. `toEqual` on round-tripped objects ignores key
insertion order, so a key reorder passed while the wire bytes changed.
Why:
Seven CodeRabbit "Minor" threads on the C5a/C5b stack. Three are production
correctness (cache-key collision, negative token count, overbilled split); three
are assertions that could not fail. The seventh thread's premise, forwarding the
TTL split into the telemetry recompute, already landed in b647ec7.
Impact:
Long task ids keep distinct cache buckets; malformed TTL splits can no longer
over- or under-bill or leak negative counts. No request shape changes for the
default path: the aggregate-only case still derives both subsets as zero.
What: adds an "anthropic-settings" gallery story and a matching visual test
that asserts the prompt cache TTL control's copy, default value, sibling
alignment, contrast and overflow behavior.
Why: the C6 control is a user-visible settings surface, and the repo asks
for gallery coverage on changes a reviewer would notice at a glance. The
story pins the default Anthropic model (claude-sonnet-4-5), whose catalog
entry advertises promptCacheTtlSupport ["5m","1h"], so the capability-gated
control actually renders.
Deliberately no toHaveScreenshot baseline: committed baselines are rendered
in the CI Linux container (visual-regression.yml) and run-docker.mjs states
host-rendered baselines are not reachable, so a Windows-rendered PNG would
fail the required webview-visual check. The assertions are geometric and
textual instead, following the LayoutContracts.visual.tsx precedent, and
they are falsifiable (a 7px injected offset turns the test red).
Impact: test/visual-infra only; no production behavior change.
Test: playwright -c playwright-ct.config.ts Anthropic.visual.tsx 1/1,
stable across two consecutive runs; eslint and tsc clean.

Summary
Summary by CodeRabbit
New Features
Anthropic settings now offer a prompt-cache lifetime choice of 5 minutes (default) or 1 hour when supported by the selected model.
Supported providers apply the configured cache lifetime to requests, and repeated task-related completions can reuse prompt-cache affinity.
Bug Fixes
Usage and cost calculations now account for cache writes with different lifetimes, including 1-hour and 12-hour rates where available.
Cache-write usage totals are reported more accurately across supported providers.
The change adds profile-level prompt-cache TTL settings, model capability and pricing metadata, provider request handling, OpenAI Native cache affinity, and TTL-specific usage and cost accounting. It also adds tests and localized settings text.

TTL contracts and model pricing packages/types/src/model.ts, packages/types/src/providers/*, packages/types/src/__tests__/*
Model metadata now defines 5m and 1h TTL support and TTL-specific cache-write rates. Anthropic and Bedrock catalogs add 1-hour rates, and selected OpenAI models add 12-hour rates.
Anthropic settings show a TTL selector when the selected model advertises 1-hour support. Saving and importing or exporting provider profiles preserves configured values. Locales add selector labels and descriptions.
The resolver returns 1h only when settings request it and model metadata supports it. Cache transforms and provider handlers apply the resolved TTL to cache markers. Tests cover unset and unsupported settings as well as supported requests.
OpenAI Native requests use a task ID or handler session ID for prompt_cache_key, omit the key for unsupported models, and hash keys longer than 64 characters. Task IDs pass through message enhancement and completion calls.
Provider usage reports TTL-specific cache-write token counts. Task collection forwards those counts to cost calculations and telemetry. Cost calculation resolves TTL rates, caps each TTL subset at aggregate writes, and prices the remainder at the short-TTL rate.

Full details: Security Boundaries
Explanation
No concrete changed security-boundary failure is present. The new TTL setting is constrained to "5m" or "1h" by promptCacheTtlSchema, and profile persistence parses it through the provider settings schema. resolveCacheTtl emits "1h" only when both the stored value and resolved model capability match; otherwise it fails closed. The OpenAI cache key is emitted only for prompt-cache-capable models, and overlong keys are SHA-256 hashed. The forwarded task ID is an opaque task identifier, normally UUIDv7 or a restored task ID, and the streaming path already sent task IDs to the provider before this change. No changed path executes the values or bypasses an approval or allowlist control.
Full details: Persistence Integrity
Explanation
No changed persistence defect is present. promptCacheTtl is added to baseProviderSettingsShape as an optional field, so the existing profile save, load, export, and import schemas retain both "1h" and "5m" (packages/types/src/providers/common.ts:42-46). The changed UI buffers the value and sends it on Save; selecting the default intentionally stores undefined, matching DEFAULT_PROMPT_CACHE_TTL and resolveCacheTtl, which treats the vendor default as no emitted TTL (Anthropic.tsx:34-46, 122-151; src/api/transform/caching/ttl.ts:14-23). The profile persistence implementation is unchanged in this PR, and its existing saveConfig, activation, export, and import writes are awaited. Added tests cover settings save round trips and export/import retention.
Full details: Lifecycle Resource Cleanup
Explanation
No changed lifecycle path can be shown to leak a resource or duplicate work. The diff adds TTL resolution and cache-control data only (src/api/transform/caching/ttl.ts:14-31), passes request metadata, and adds usage counters. Anthropic streaming still uses the existing withFinallyCleanup(..., removeExternalAbortListener) path (src/api/providers/anthropic.ts:267); the new code only records TTL-specific usage (:271-302). OpenAI changes add a scalar cache key and pricing data (src/api/providers/openai-native.ts:381-418, :1456-1480), not a listener, timer, watcher, task, or new cancellation path. Task changes only accumulate and recompute counters (src/core/task/Task.ts:4023-4073, :4217-4223).

Full details: Regression Evidence
Explanation
The Vertex completePrompt TTL integration remains under-tested. The changed handler now calls resolveCacheTtl(this.options, info) and emits cacheControl(...) at src/api/providers/anthropic-vertex.ts:325-356. The existing completePrompt test only covers the unset default and expects an ephemeral marker at src/api/providers/__tests__/anthropic-vertex.spec.ts:1084-1108. The new capable and fail-closed TTL tests exercise createMessage only, so they cannot detect a missing or incorrect TTL in completePrompt. The required UI snapshot is present and does not cause this failure.
Resolution
Add focused completePrompt tests for a model with promptCacheTtl: "1h" and promptCacheTtlSupport: ["5m", "1h"], and for configured "1h" with absent or unsupported capability. Inspect the request sent to messages.create; assert cache_control.ttl is "1h" only for the capable case and that the ttl key is absent in the fail-closed case.

Add an accept-path test for the TTL argument on createMessage.
The new handler test covers only the reject path. It asserts that the third argument to addCacheBreakpoints is undefined for a model without TTL capability. VercelAiGatewayHandler.createMessage passes resolveCacheTtl(this.options, info) as that argument, and no handler-level test asserts "1h" for a model whose catalog entry advertises promptCacheTtlSupport including "1h". A handler that always passed undefined would still pass this suite.
Add a sibling test. Use a model that is in the gateway prompt-caching set and has supportsPromptCache, with catalog info that includes promptCacheTtlSupport: ["1h"]. Set promptCacheTtl: "1h" and assert that lastCall![2] is "1h".
The test guidelines require accept-path and reject-path tests for guards through every public entry point. resolveCacheTtl gates the TTL on model capability, and createMessage is the public entry point that calls it. The gateway catalog currently supplies no TTL capability, so this is a test gap rather than a current production failure.

“1h” TTL; configure promptCacheTtl as “1h” and assert addCacheBreakpoints
receives “1h” as its third argument, alongside the existing reject-path

Assert that the Vercel default model info has no TTL capability.
The test titled "leaves dynamic-catalog defaults without capability so they fail closed" checks openRouterDefaultModelInfo.promptCacheTtlSupport but not vercelAiGatewayDefaultModelInfo. For the Vercel default, it checks only that the model id is in VERCEL_AI_GATEWAY_PROMPT_CACHING_MODELS. If promptCacheTtlSupport: ["5m", "1h"] were added to vercelAiGatewayDefaultModelInfo, this test would still pass.
The handler uses that info only when the gateway catalog does not supply the default model. In that case, RouterProvider.getModel() falls back to defaultModelInfo. The handler then passes it to resolveCacheTtl, which returns "1h" when the user has selected 1h. Catalog-supplied entries are not affected by this default-info change.

Add a tier-level 1h rate check for Anthropic and Bedrock catalog entries.
The catalog test checks only model-level cacheWritesPrice1h against inputPrice. A regression in a tier's 1h rate passes it. The Anthropic provider test covers the Sonnet 4.5 tier. The other tier entries have no equivalent check. Every tier entry in the Anthropic and Bedrock catalogs already sets its 1h rate to 2x its tier input price, so a tier-level check passes on the current data.

…r session
`completePrompt` built its `prompt_cache_key` from `this.sessionId`, which is
regenerated for every handler instance. Prompt enhancement builds a fresh
handler per request (`singleCompletionHandler`), so repeated enhancements of
one task each started a new cache bucket and could not reuse the previous
prefix.
`CompletePromptOptions` now carries an optional `taskId`. `MessageEnhancer`
sets it from the open task, `webviewMessageHandler` passes
`currentCline?.taskId`, and the OpenAI native handler feeds it through the
existing `getPromptCacheKey`, which already prefers `metadata.taskId` and
falls back to the session id. Callers with no task keep the old behaviour.
Tests: two new provider cases (task-scoped key across handler instances,
session fallback without a task id) and two enhancer cases (task id
forwarded, options omitted when no task is open). The provider case fails on
the pre-fix code with the session uuid in place of the task id.
What: type the six Anthropic spec mocks against the real control props,
give the prompt cache TTL label an htmlFor bound to the trigger id, and add
a label-activation assertion plus a pixel baseline to the visual test.
Why: CodeRabbit review of PR Zoo-Code-Org#2271 raised three Minor findings. The untyped
mocks let a wrong prop shape pass unnoticed, and the label wrapped no control,
so clicking it did nothing for pointer users.
Impact: label clicks now open the selector; the spec fails on a wrong-typed
callback, and the visual test fails when the label association is removed.
What: add the anthropic-prompt-cache-ttl-dark.png baseline rendered by the
pinned Playwright container in the webview-visual CI job.
Why: webview-ui/AGENTS.md forbids creating committed baselines from host
rendering, and Docker is unavailable on the authoring host, so the CI
container fallback supplies the authoritative PNG.
Impact: the visual test's screenshot assertion now has a baseline that
matches CI, closing the last CodeRabbit finding on PR Zoo-Code-Org#2271.
Merge commit:064dfb8fa — Merge remote-tracking branch 'myk1yt/feat/cache-ttl-knob' into feat/cache-ttl-setting
Ancestry:git merge-base --is-ancestor origin/main HEAD → true; parent and previous head both ancestors of the new head
Mergeable:MERGEABLE (was CONFLICTING)
Conflicts resolved
None. The merge completed with exit 0 and zero conflicted paths. The branch's 27 changed files and the parent's 117 changed files are fully disjoint (comm -12 on the two change sets is empty), so git had no overlapping hunks to reconcile. The predicted src/api/providers/__tests__/anthropic.spec.ts and minimax.spec.ts conflicts did not materialize: those files are touched only by the parent, and this branch had already absorbed the identical TTL type layer at the previous stack-sync commit 613438691.
This branch: the settings/UI knob in webview-ui/src/components/settings/providers/Anthropic.tsx (useId, htmlFor label association, capability-gated control), the SettingsView cached-state round trip, the gateway TTL accept-path test, and the container-rendered visual baseline.
No assertion was dropped.

@myk1yt Thanks for the update. Your reported results distinguish the clean merge from the post-merge regression checks. The named test runs also show that the targeted tests ran rather than being skipped.
I have not independently verified the new head or CI results. Before merging, confirm that all required checks pass on 064dfb8fa9ff84a0f11ec271a2c20dd638f75bc3, including the CI-only mutation check.
The saved regression assessment separately identifies missing Vertex completePrompt coverage for supported and unsupported "1h" settings. The reported streaming TTL tests do not establish coverage for that separate entry point. Confirm those focused cases before treating that assessment as resolved.

Forward options?.taskId in Codex completePrompt.
The OpenAI Codex completePrompt ignores the new taskId option. It always keys the request with the handler's own sessionId. Each prompt enhancement creates a fresh handler, so two enhancements of one task send different prompt_cache_key values and can miss reusable prompt caches. Pass options?.taskId through, falling back to this.sessionId when it is omitted.

The enhancePrompt case passes currentCline?.taskId to MessageEnhancer.enhanceMessage. No test in src/core/webview/__tests__/webviewMessageHandler.spec.ts sends an enhancePrompt message. The messageEnhancer.test.ts cases pass taskId directly to enhanceMessage, so removing the handler argument would not fail any test.

The new test reads only the first usage chunk, so it never reaches the final cost calculation at src/api/providers/minimax.ts:258. Omitting cacheWrite1hTokens from that call leaves every test passing. The default model, MiniMax-M3, has a 1h write rate of 0.6 per million tokens. Add completePrompt tests for the one-hour cache TTL.
completePrompt now sets cache_control through cacheControl(resolveCacheTtl(this.options, info)) at src/api/providers/anthropic-vertex.ts:349. The completePrompt tests only cover the unset setting, which yields { type: "ephemeral" }. No completePrompt test sets promptCacheTtl.
A regression at this call site would not fail the suite. Examples include passing this.options.promptCacheTtl directly to cacheControl, or emitting ttl without the capability check. The streaming TTL tests cover createMessage, which computes its TTL separately. ttl.spec.ts tests resolveCacheTtl and cacheControl directly and does not reach this call site.
Add two cases to the completePrompt describe block in src/api/providers/__tests__/anthropic-vertex.spec.ts:
Supported capability with promptCacheTtl: "1h". Inject promptCacheTtlSupport: ["5m", "1h"] by spying on getModel, as the streaming test does. Expect the text content block to carry cache_control with ttl: "1h".
Unsupported model with promptCacheTtl: "1h" and no 1h capability. Expect cache_control to be { type: "ephemeral" } with no ttl.
This is a coverage gap, not a current production failure. The change needs no production code edit.

…ove)
Re-anchors the prompt cache TTL knob onto Zoo-Code-Org#2233's new provider-definition
layout: the knob stays in baseProviderSettingsShape, which now lives in
packages/types/src/providers/common.ts. Updates the TTL spec imports to
the new module paths.
Brings the leaf's settings/UI prompt-cache-TTL surface onto the parent's
re-anchored provider layout (Zoo-Code-Org#2233 moved provider-settings/ to providers/
and added the TTL knob to baseProviderSettingsShape).
No textual conflict: the two sides touch disjoint paths. The leaf's delta is
webview/settings/UI only (Anthropic.tsx control, i18n, SettingsView and
ClineProvider specs); the parent's delta is packages/types + provider runtime.
packages/types/src/providers/common.ts resolves byte-identical to the parent,
which already carries both Zoo-Code-Org#2233's structure and the TTL knob.
Verified: 32 co-touched specs run by name (1178 tests), check-types green for
packages/types, src and webview-ui, eslint --max-warnings=0 on all 97 touched
files, no stale provider-settings/ imports, eslint-suppressions.json unchanged.
Re-merge onto updated parent (#2264 @ 923478c7d, main @ 070ee98eb)
This branch (leaf of the wave-5 Track A cascade) has been re-merged onto its updated parent branch feat/cache-ttl-knob, which now carries main@070ee98eb.
No textual conflict occurred. GitHub predicted one in packages/types/src/providers/common.ts, but the merge applied cleanly because the two sides touch disjoint paths:
This branch's delta vs the merge base (5891cdc63) is webview/settings/UI only: Anthropic.tsx TTL control, 17 i18n locales, SettingsView.spec.tsx, ClineProvider.spec.ts, importExport.spec.ts, Anthropic.spec.tsx / Anthropic.visual.tsx, Playwright story, and one baseline PNG. It does not touch packages/types.
Path intersection between the two sides is the empty set, so common.ts had no competing edits. It resolves byte-identical to the parent, which already carries both #2233's re-anchored structure and the TTL knob in baseProviderSettingsShape. Verified: git diff myk1yt/feat/cache-ttl-knob HEAD -- packages/types/src/providers/common.ts is empty, and vs origin/main it shows exactly the two TTL hunks (import + schema field).
The merge delta is set-identical to the parent's delta (126 files), confirming nothing from either side was dropped.
Silent-breakage scan
The real hazard class in this cascade, checked explicitly:
Stale provider-settings/ imports: 0. Scanned packages/types/src, src, webview-ui/src, apps for import statements referencing the [refactor] Move default provider ID functionality into provider definition #2233-deleted paths. The only textual hits are in src/dist/extension.js, which is untracked, gitignored build output.
Parent's spec import fix survived.packages/types/src/__tests__/prompt-cache-ttl.test.ts correctly imports ../providers/anthropic.js and ../providers/common.js.
Duplicate module specifiers: 3 found across merged/adjacent specs (provider-default-model.test.ts, attemptCompletionTool.spec.ts, git.spec.ts). All three are pre-existing on origin/main (identical before and after the merge), not merge-caused. Left untouched as out of scope.
Merge markers: none in tracked source.
SettingsView cachedState discipline intact.Anthropic.tsx writes through setApiConfigurationField, which writes to setCachedState; SettingsView.tsx is not touched by this branch at all.
Verification
corepack pnpm install --frozen-lockfile: exit 0, lockfile up to date.
32 co-touched specs run by name (targeted, no full suites): 1178 tests, 0 failures.
check-types: packages/types exit 0, src exit 0, webview-ui exit 0. The pre-push hook additionally ran the full 11-project turbo check-types graph: 11 successful, 11 total.
eslint --max-warnings=0 on all touched files: src 35 files exit 0, packages/types 48 files exit 0, webview-ui 14 files exit 0. --prune-suppressions was not used; src/eslint-suppressions.json is unchanged (git diff origin/main HEAD for that file is empty).
Note on review state
Any CodeRabbit approval recorded at the old head 064dfb8fa is superseded by design: the branch now contains a new merge commit with a different tree. CI is re-running against 0001e9880faacf3f7bbfd72e8d19a33d98d30f84; please key any follow-up review off that sha.
No @coderabbitai mention was issued from this update.

@myk1yt Acknowledged. Any follow-up review should use 0001e9880faacf3f7bbfd72e8d19a33d98d30f84, not the previous head.
You report a conflict-free merge, 1,178 passing tests, clean type checks, and clean lint checks. I have not independently verified the merge, test results, current CI results, or provider approval status. A new commit alone does not establish the provider’s current approval state.
Before merging:
Confirm that all required CI checks pass on the new head, including the CI-only mutation check.
Confirm the focused Vertex completePrompt cases from the saved regression assessment: emit ttl: "1h" when the model advertises support, and omit ttl when capability is absent or unsupported. Aggregate test counts do not establish those specific cases.
This update does not establish that the saved coverage concern is resolved. It also does not request a new review, so I have not triggered one.

Learning: Persistence integrity: Fail only when a concrete changed persistence path can lose or corrupt state because an operation is not awaited, a write is non-atomic, rollback or explicit partial-failure behavior is missing, or a persisted default is not propagated to a consumer. ## Test Placement Guidance
- For a guard or validator, test the accept path and the reject path through every public entry point. A test that only rejects bad input does not prove the guard still accepts good input.

Learning: Regression evidence: Fail only when a concrete changed behavior lacks focused coverage at the lowest valid test layer, tests merely mirror implementation, an affected error/negative/unset branch is omitted, or a durable visible UI change lacks its required Playwright component snapshot. Do not demand tests for unchanged behavior, mechanical configuration, or every branch without a plausible regression scenario. Cite the changed behavior and missing evidence.

What
User-facing prompt-cache TTL setting (PR-C6, settings/UI): a "Prompt cache lifetime" control on the Anthropic provider profile (5 minutes default / 1 hour opt-in), completing the ADR-0006 phase chain (C5b knob emission -> C6 setting/UI).
Why
ADR-0006 Decision item 3. The emitter-side capability gate (shipped in #2264) is the ONLY gate (I2): the stored value is written verbatim;
resolveCacheTtlre-checkspromptCacheTtlSupportat request build and fails closed — a hand-edited1hon a non-capable model never reaches the wire (byte-identical payload, nottlkey).Implementation notes
